Hi Ladies,

EXCITED and ASPOTOFTEA: Congrats on your upcoming deliveries. I really wish you guys all the best on your c-sections and look forward to hearing the good news from you guys!!!

WONDERCAT: Hope you're doing well. I know what you mean by still working!!! It has become sooo hard! I will be going one more to the office on Friday and that's it after that!!! Working the patients is becoming increasingly dificult and with my tummy bulging out more than ever, I'm having upclose and personal experiences with patients when I ask them to turn towards me! :-) And of course my legs are becoming more and more swollen, although I try to put them up in betweeen patients.

CHARR AND IANMICHAEL: Hope you guys are doing well. Keep us posted.

Although I feel that I'm ready to give birth, I don't feel ready in other respects. The crib came in with a defect, so now we're waiting for a new one. At least we have a bassinet. I have to do laundry with the baby's clothes ASAP. My bag is partially ready. I still have to finalize my pediatrician's selection (debating between 2). As you can see, NOT READY!!! Hopefully I'll be done with everything by this weekend. Peanut is expected to arrive on NOvember 15, with a range of NOV1-21 given by my OB. I have an u/s next week to determine the right course of action (inducing, c-section or wait).

I got my H1N2 preservative-free shot this past weekend.

It's really been a pleasure interacting with all you guys as well as a great source of moral support. Hope that we will keep in touch after the babies are born and exchange useful information with one another.

Have a great week.

Hello, Ladies! Well, I have big news. Our baby boy, Noah Jeffrey, was born at 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 16 (3 weeks early). He's 2 weeks old today and already growing and changing!

My delivery was not exactly routine. My water broke at 4 a.m. and when I got to the hospital my blood pressure was sky high. They discovered I had pre-eclampsia. They had me on Pitocin to get contractions going since I wasn't dilating yet and also had to put me on an IV drip of magnesium for the pre-eclampsia. What an awful drug for me. It made me nauseous and soooo groggy. I did get fully dilated and after 2 hours of pushing, the baby wasn't coming so we decided a c-section was the safest way to go. I was in and out throughout the procedure due to all the drugs but the minute they pulled Noah out, he was crying and I instantly started to cry. He weighed 5 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19 1/4 inches long. He's such a tiny little guy. I was in the hospital 5 nights trying to get my liver enzymes and blood pressure to come back down. It's still a work in progress with medication but I'm on the mend finally.

Noah is an angel and such a blessing!!! He's really quite a good baby, but of course the nights are a bit sleepless. He's certainly worth it though.

Hope all of you are doing well and I know you're all getting more than ready and anxious for your arrivals. Hang in there!

HUGE congrats Charr! So exciting.

Welcome to baby Noah. Sounds like his arrival was quite eventful, but so glad it is behind you. I am sure it is wonderful to be home and to have that baby in your arms after your very long journey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing the great news and enjoy every moment.

Would love any advice you have for those of us with scheduled C-sections. How is the scar and how are you feeling? Anything you wish you had known before going into deliver?

Give Noah a big hug from all of us and again, huge congrats to you and your family!

Hi Ladies,

hope you are all doing well.

yesterday I ended up going to the emergency room. Some careless idiot suddenly cut in front of me while I was driving. I had to swerve my car abruptly.Luckily I was able to avoid him. I then called my OB to ask if I needed to be concerned. He wanted me to check in at the hospital, just in case. Luckily peanut was doing great and my amniotic fluid level was good too so they released me after monitoring me for 2 hours.
It really put things in perspective, how not to fuss about minor details in life.
So that was Halloween night :-)

Looking forward to heatring from you all.

CHARR! CONGRATULATIONS! How exciting!

Sorry to hear that it was rough at times, but I am so glad that you and baby Noah are okay and doing well. (Also I sympathize with you, I was on the mag sulfate in the hospital in July and it was a horrible, horrible drug!!) I hope you are feeling much better.

Nancy, that is SO scary! Idiot drivers. But, at you are okay and your baby is okay, so that is good, good news. Quite the scare though. You just never know who is in the car next to you, I always try to remember that when I'm driving, I wish everyone did!

excited, I'm nervous! I'm trying not to be, but can't help it. My OB ran over what to expect and what will happen on Wednesday, but still. I am anxious about it though, doesn't matter if I'm nervous, I want to get this show on the road!

In preparation, I'm eating soft and easy digestible foods for the next two days, as someone told me one of the worst things is the digestion and bowel movement after a c-section. So I figure if I'm eating "gentle" foods, I might help that part out.

I also got the advice that if your OB is willing, stitches are better than staples. My OB sort of made a face and said she would go ahead with stitches if everything was going well and there were no problems that would make her want to close me up fast. Stitches are more time consuming, but I hear they are more comfortable on the wound than the staples.

My sister in law said the first day you are still numb sort of so it doesn't hurt too bad, but the 2nd day when they get you out of bed and it's been a day is tough. So I've asked my family to give DH and me some privacy on the 2nd day, as we adjust to having the babies and I'm trying to heal.

good luck, you are just a few days after mine! I hope it all goes well.

I will post here after I get home and let you ladies know all about the babies and such. Take care all of you!!

Hello. As for advice, if you have family that can stay with you for the first couple of weeks after, it's much needed. You will be so exhausted and in recovery mode and having people there to look after the baby and cook meals, etc. allows you to get much needed naps. The pain following a c-section is probably varied person to person. The first days are rough getting in and out of bed naturally. My doctor only does stitches as he feels they heal better and leave less of a scar. Most doctors don't do them because it's more time consuming than staples. The hardest part for me has been the sleep deprivation but just take it one day and one night at a time! Good luck to you all and keep us posted.

Charr: the fact that you're still able to send us a message gives me hope that you still managing to have at least a minute or two to e-mail us!
I am very excited for you that you're enjoying baby Noah. It's really a cute name.

On my end,saw my OB today. Baby definitely cephalic (head down and dropped). Ready to comne out anytime now. Estimating about 8lbs. If not born on his own by the 11th, I will see him again then he will induce me no later than November 15. We shall see... My nesting has been ridiculous!
Have a great week guys and waiting to hear the good news from you all!

Hi everybody! My big news is that I am now the proud mommy of a 12-day-old baby boy. Sean Charles arrived almost 3 weeks early on October 24, weighing 6 lbs. 8 oz. and 19 inches long. My water broke at midnight that Friday night and after 19+ hours of labor including an hour of pushing he came out as an emergency c-section. By that point I had almost no amniotic fluid left so the contractions were compressing the umbilical cord and causing him to become distressed. Of course, by that point he was pretty well wedged down in the birth canal. He did have pretty bad jaundice so after going home Wednesday we were re-admitted Friday so that he could get treated for that overnight. However he is now doing very well, eating up a storm (he thinks B-O-O-B-I-E spells "Mommy!") and gaining weight appropriately. We also found a new renter for our house, so things are starting to settle down nicely.

On the stitches/staples thing - I had staples, and heard that the other option would have been glue. There were a dozen that they cut out before I went home and I can't say that I found them to be the most painful part of the process. (And fortunately the post-pregnancy pooch covers them so you can't see how disconcerting they probably look.) For example, the lovely hemorrhoid from pushing was pretty uncomfortable. I have spent the past two weeks living on a blow-up ring. Very classy. Actually one of the worst parts was how much my legs and feet puffed up immediately after the birth, evidently from all the fluids I got after getting the epidural. I couldn't bend my legs more than a few centimeters which made getting in and out of the hospital bed miserable and the skin on my feet was so tight it was painful. They are completely back to normal now, thank God!

aspotofTea - YES, the constipation is bad. I'm not going to lie to you. I didn't poop at all in the hospital, which I understand is pretty normal, and once I did when I got home it's a sloooooow process. They should give you stool softeners in the hospital. Mine did not give me any to bring home, so I would advise having some on hand for when you are released. As of yesterday I'm past the constipation and have gone straight past normal to diarrhea. ARgh! Also, what I have been experiencing is that other than the "second day worst" thing is that you can feel pretty good for a couple of days and then have a sudden relapse. You stretch the wrong way or get up too fast and get a shooting pain in the incision.

I have had my mother and sister staying with me which is indescribably wonderful. Take all the help you can get, both in the hospital and at home. Take all the pain medication you need and don't let anybody make you feel guilty or less of a person for it. Your body heals better when it's not in pain. Fortunately my in-laws aren't speaking to us again because, evidently, my husband doesn't visit his mother enough (yes, I know it doesn't make sense - she's crazy!) so we don't have to deal with too many visitors.

Congrats to charr and good luck to everybody else who is still waiting on their little bundles of joy! I have a finite time to finish up some other things on the computer before I turn into the boob fairy again!! :)

Hi ladies!

Wondercat, many congratulations on the arrival of your son. I'm glad that you both are doing well now, so glad to hear it!

Last wednesday my twins were born! My son Fox was born at 12:37 pm, 6 lbs 6 oz and 20 inches long. My daughter Violet was born a minute after her brother, 6 lbs 2 oz and 19 inches long.

After an incredibly difficult pregnancy, they arrived healthy! A little low blood sugar due to my mild gestational diabetes, but they just got some glucose water right after birth once, and they were just fine. both born with full heads of hair, especially the boy, which the nurses in the hospital just loved. They would "style" his hair after his bath each day haha.

C-section went well, it wasn't fun, but health wise all was fine. The recovery has been slow but it's going well. We're all at home now and adjusting to our new life, figuring out a routine, etc.

Excited and Nancy, can't wait to hear about the births of your babies!

Hi all. Congrats on all of your beautiful arrivals. Love the names!

We are thrilled to share the news that Alexis Rose arrived on November 3 at 1:11 p.m. at 6 lbs, 13 oz and 20 inches long! A huge relief after the doctor told us to expect her to be in the NICU!

We had a C-section scheduled for Saturday and the doctor told me I would not go into labor enough - sure enough my water broke early Tuesday morning! I was feeling a little off Monday night and went to bed early. My husband and I were going to go through my hospital bag Monday night, but he was tired so we said we would do it Tuesday...oops!

I was up every hour or so and every time I woke up, my stomach was hard. I had non-stress test scheduled for 8:30 a.m., so I just figured I would sleep as much as I could and they would tell me what was going on at 8:30.

Well, at 3:40 a.m. - my water broke in bed - EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! We had the crazy rush to the hosptial, running of red lights - all of it! We got to the hospital and the nurses told me they did not think my water broke - maybe I just urinated in my pants. I told them they were crazy and they could check my sheets and floor at home! The doctor came a few hours later and announced that I was right and the nurses were wrong - and scheduled a c-section at noon since the baby was breech. It turned out the umbilical cord was also wrapped around her neck twice - so I am very glad we did not try to turn her!

We had some jaundice issues in the hopsital and she spent 24 hours under the bilirubin lights, but that feels like ages ago (it was about 10 days).

We are all home and doing great. We are very blessed that she is a great baby - sleeps 5 hour streches at night, hardly cries, breast feeds well...after the difficult pregnancy, it seems fair that we have an easy kid!

Hope you are all enjoying parenthood as much as we are. Sending lots of love to everyone and sincere thanks!

HELLOOOOOO!!! You all would not believe how crazy my life has been, but I just perused the posts and CONGRATS to all of you new mommies- I think I'm the last one left, and although my due date is officially 12/3, the OB doesn't think I'll be pregnant in December! :)

I got my shots, and so did my son- Mike still hasn't done it yet, but I'll be pushing him to take care of it this next week. No one has been sick, thank God! Doesn't mean it won't happen.

I had a scare last Wednesday night, turns out I was just a little dehydrated. Boy does it matter that you stay hydrated, wowwie. :) So at least it put the pressure necessary and Mike and I to get the bag packed, etc and finish up last minute crap around the house (like window treatments for the baby's room!!!).

Will do my best to keep everyone posted, but those stupid email notifications just never come through. On top of it all- my boss took a 6 week leave of absence. So right when I'd hoped work would be slowing down and I'd just more or less be chilling at work- NO SUCH FREAKIN LUCK. I have to work up until I go into labor, because I want to spend as much time at home with the baby as possible. I took Friday off just to chill and that was really nice. If I go up to my due date, that is the line in the sand for me and work. My last official day will be 12/3. :) At least I have some relief knowing that.

I'm so going to miss this quiet little bundle in my belly! He or she is still so very strong!

XOXOXO to everyone!!

Hi ladies,

I officially became a mommy on November 9, at 9:18PM. Peanut was born 7lbs12.8oz and 19.5 inches.
I went to the hospital at 3:00AM after having had bleeding. They said contractions were not strong enough and that I woud have the baby in a day or two. WRONG. By 11AM, they were strong and regular. Went back to the hospital and sure enough I was 4cm dilated. At 5cm, got my epidural, and after 5 pushes only, the baby was born. The OB didn't even have time to put his gloves on! I had a 2nd degree tear.

Baby doing well. A bit jaundiced but no intervention needed. Breastfeeding didn't go as shceduled and baby lost about 110z the 1st 5 days. Now I am pumping and giving solely my own milk and he's regained his birthweight now.

Although I am exhausted, like the rest of you I bet, I couldn't feel happier.

Ladies, it was great to share this journey with you all and hopefully we will continue to do so through motherhood.
Love,
Nancy

Congrats to all the new mommies! I've been posting mostly on the December thread but I actually delivered my twins Nov 4th. I went into labor a week earlier than planned. I ended up having a c-section since one baby was breech. My daughter, Piper, was 6lbs 5oz and my son, Ren, was 3lbs 5oz. Piper spent 5 days in NICU because she had some breathing problems. Ren was in NICU for 10 days. Both babies are home now and doing well. My recovery seems to be going slow. My incision from the c-section has been very sore and has been slightly infected.

Nicole - I'm assuming you're referring to the H1N1 shot that your hubby still needs. If he doesn't get it before you deliver, they will offer it at dupont after you deliver. That's how my hubby got his shot.
