Thankd JG, I'm going to try babies r us and online. Its like every min I feel a little twinge in my stomach Im like what is that. Even though everything looks good I still would like to reassure myself and hear my baby's heartbeat sometimes.

Morning! I have one of the ones from Babies R Us. Though it works great, it doesn't detect heartbeats this early. I think it will be a few more weeks. ugh...but I still try daily - just in case. ha!

Gobble! Gobble! Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, anyone else having strange cravings? I saw a recipe for brussel sprouts and now I just HAVE to have them for Tgiving dinner. I've never liked them prior. Maybe it's all the gooey cheese in the recipe too.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I can't wait to eat some turkey tomorrow!

Cheryl- i'm craving things that are not good for me, so I can't eat them, which only makes the craving stronger. Like blue cheese, or hotdogs, or a sandwich from Jimmy Johns. I know most people find that these things are fine in moderation, but i'm just so cautious and I don't want to mess this up, so I won't allow myself to eat them. I already told DH that he's going to need to have these things ready for me at the hospital bed as soon as I deliver! Yum! Other than that, i've been eating a lot of mac and cheese and butter pecan ice cream (not together!). Still only gained two pounds though. All this talk of food is making me hungry!

Hi JG - ditto for me except coffee! Did you know you can have blue cheese if the milk has been pasteurized? There are 2 store brands that are pasteurized that I eat - Treasure Cave and Kraft. You will see on the ingredients list if it has been. I just don't eat it out at restaurants because you can't really look at the label.

Oh, this child . . . at my appointment yesterday, my baby withheld his heartbeat from the doctor's doppler & thus I had to go in for an ultrasound . . . at the ultrasound, he flipped off the technician and me . . . must take after his dad =)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone :D

Hi there,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Gobbler!

Defttonesmo - Sounds like your baby knew mommy wanted a sono instead of a doppler and was just trying to help. Glad all is well.

How is everyone feeling??

All is quiet with me, just waiting (not so patiently) on my sono next Tuesday to find out boy or girl.

Take care!

Hi all

Post by may2010 »

Hope you all had a great thanksgiving.

I have been doing OK but plagued by spotting and very nervous about the outcome.

We got a sono on friday and the heart-beat was 120 only....they say low heartbeat is a sign of distress.

Praying hard and hoping this is only a nightmare that will pass.

What they say is that of the 3 embryos I got transferred two are just small sacs.....but sometimes they can be a cause of spotting and even worse.

Will keep you'all posted

Right now on strict bed rest

My opinion on boy/girl......I want it to be a surprise!!

I am going back on Monday again

I have a doppler at home and today the FHR is 138. I am keeping a track of it. Spotting is better today No pain though

My OB's office is calling me every day to keep a check. I have a lot of praise for my OB doc who has given me his cell no in case I need him urgently.

Ironically when we are inside the womb a low HR is a sign of distress and when we come out its high HR which signals distress!!

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving Weekend. I believe most of you are in the US - and we celebrated as proud expats outside of the US, too.

May - I am sorry to hear about your problems. I have these going on every two weeks or so, it seems. Was on bedrest the week before last and back to the OBGyn on Wednesday for a check-up. They cannot find anything wrong and the doc deliberately does not tell me the heartbeat. Simply says, all looks fine, let's check back in X days. Hope you feel better soon.

I am amazed that your docs will actually tell you the gender of the baby. I will ask mine on Wednesday when I go in but have a feeling he wants to wait and be "sure" in week 17/18. Everybody here is eager to find out and my husband and mother are driving me crazy. Sometimes I feel my DH is more eager to have the baby then me.

I have also got my nasty cough back over the weekend and am miserable and not sleeping well. I guess pregnancy is not what I thought it would be, riddled with scares and pains ... I am glad, though, and it only lasts 9 months :) The endproduct is what counts, right.

Hi Ladies,
Thanksgiving was great, but i'm glad that it's over. We had everyone over at my house and it was exhausting.

May- i'm sorry to hear about your concerns. Ironically, yesterday I was reading something (can't remember what though) and someone said that her baby's heartrate had dropped. The doctor asked her to sit up and when she did, the heartrate went back up. I guess it was because she was laying on her back and in the second trimester and later, it's not a good idea to lay on your back because the uterus presses on an important vein that circulates blood to your legs and back to your heart and when that vein is cutting off, the baby isn't getting enough blood either. I'm only saying this because you mentioned that the doppler shows a heartrate of 138 which is perfectly fine and healthy, so maybe it was just from laying on your back at the doctor. Hang in there and i'll be praying for you! I have a feeling that everything is going to be just fine. Keep up the positive attitude!

Lucky- Sorry to hear that you're sick. I was assured by every mother I know that I will get at least one cold while i'm pregnant and i'll be miserable (such nice people, huh). I know what you mean about how scary pregnancy is. I want to be able to enjoy my pregnancy, but i'm so scared all the time. I wish I had a crystal ball that would show me that my babies will be just fine in a few months.

cheryl- by next Tuesday, you meant December 8, right? Or is it today?

deftones- Ha ha, I love it! These babies have quite the personalities already!

May- I looked around for the information that i was telling you about, and here's where I found it. After you read the dr. responses, read the first community answers response, that's what I was referring to: http://www.babycenter.com/406_is-it-saf ... 1245287.bc

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. We certainly did. We drove from Chicago to Minneapolis and had our baby shower while there. It was very fun. We had a night time co-ed shower, so that my male friends could come also. We had a ginger bread cookie decorating contest, where poeple made the cookies look pregnant. It was fun to get some of the stuff on our registry as well as some stuff that was not. Soft blankies and stuffed animals made it feel really real that there are babies on the way! My mom has a jacuzzi bath tub and it so great to be able to soak and actually have everything covered! I've been feeling alot more movement over the past week, which is really cool, yet feels like bugs are tickling me inside. I'm really excited for next week's ultrasound and hopefully they will be able to tell us what's what 100%!

Take care everyone!

Faith

hey ladies!

hope everyone had a great holiday. sorry in advance for the long post. first, i wanted to say how sorry i am for fitz, i can imagine how you must be feeling.

the sunday before thanksgiving i went to the ER b/c i had extreme abdominal pain. i had already known that i had a very large fibroid tumor in my abdomen. when i asked about it at my last appointment, the doc said i would just be very big with two babies and a large fibroid. anyway, the ER found that i had a large fibroid (DUH!) and that was causing my pain and i should take tylenol. the tylenol worked until wednesday. wednesday, the pain was excruciating. but since we had time off for thanksgiving i was able to rest and felt better. my water broke on saturday morning, so i lost twin A. twin B is doing fine, but since my water broke i'm very susceptible to infection which would cause them to deliver both babies. the docs also said that there was a high probability that i would go into labor within 24 hours of my water breaking so they kept me in the hospital until yesterday. they said twin B has a less than 5% chance of survival b/c of the extreme likelihood of infection. anyway, i made that milestone with no infection or labor. the next milestone i'm trying to get to is 7 days from when my water broke. 80% of women go into labor within 7 days (if they don't go into labor within 24hrs). if i make 7 days with no labor or infection, the chances of twin b increase. the next milestone after that is 24 weeks. if i can make it that long with anything happening the baby has a 50/50 chance of survival and they can give me meds to fight infection and labor. they said antibiotics won't help now, but i'm going to insist they put me on them anyway, cuz you never know. so, it's tuesday and i'm still pregnant and have no infection and no labor. please pray i make it to saturday with nothing happening.

interestingly enough, the fibroid pain i had stopped almost immediately when my water broke. i have found that it has come back but not nearly as bad as last week. i asked the docs about this and they said that it is too early in the pregnancy to have trouble with the babies b/c of the fibroid. my doc also seemed surprised that the IVF clinic would have implanted 2 embryos knowing i had fibroids. i knew also that i had fibroids, but when i was diagnosed i was told they were very tiny. every woman in my family has or had fibroids and had no trouble having babies. they didn't know they had them until close to menopause.

so, best case scenario for me is that i can keep twin A inside for as long as possible without labor or infection so twin B can be healthy. the awful part is that twin A's heart is still beating and the baby can still grow. the doc said i could give birth to a full grown baby that won't survive b/c without the sac the baby will not develop lungs. on the flip side they said that twin A could pass naturally without labor and i would have to bring all the 'parts' in to make sure everything comes out. i'm devastated, horrified, and hopeful all at the same time.
