Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA. I did deliver my twins last Friday, November 27th :). Chaz was born at 6 lbs 6 oz and Joslyn at 4 lbs 4 oz. Chaz was immediately taken to NICU (or Special Care as they call it here) because of his breathing rate. He was breathing way too fast. He ended up spending at total of 4 days in there.

My c-section experience went well for the most part. I was amazed at how fast they got in there and got the babies out. I hated only being able to see them for literally a brief second before they carried them out. DH got to follow them and be with them during my recovery. I was so jealous, lol! Apparently I bled quite a bit during the procedure though so it took a little while longer to get me stitched up. I was so sleeping laying on the that table I think I dosed off a few times. Then it seemed to turn into a bit of anxiety and I really had to concentrate on not freaking out. But I got through it.

From recovery, they wheeled me to my room and on the way I got to stop by the nursery to see both babies. I had to see Chaz from a distance which was pretty sad and DH was holding and feeding little Jos. To be honest, I didn't mind just going to the room alone for a while because I was completely out of it. Later dad and Jos joined me and she stayed in our room all 4 days we were there. I hardly got to see Chaz at all...only after I felt well enough to walk to Special Care which seemed to be a mile away. Finally on Monday they started letting him come to my room for feedings. As we got ready to be discharged Tuesday morning they told me he didn't fair well after his circumcision and his breath rate shot back up. They weren't going to allow him to go home with us. Although I knew it wasn't too serious, all the emotions just hit me at once and I cried like a baby! So we spent a night at home with just Joslyn and picked Chaz up on Wednesday morning.

Since then life has been completely crazy! We are on cloud 9 and completely exhausted all at the same time. I rented a pump from the hospital for $20/wk. It took a while for my milk to come in and like Amy said, they had me pumping from the start. I felt silly because nothing was coming out and I was thinking it was a lost cause. I'm just getting to where I'm pumping a totally of 3 oz. Which would be fine for one newborn but for 2 it's a struggle. Chaz is def a boob man, lol, and takes right to the breast. Jos loves it out of the bottle. I'm still having to supplement a little with formula but we're working it out.

The twins are doing great now and are teaching mommy and daddy how to do this parenting thing everyday. We have been dealing with constipation with both of them but we have a great pediatrition who has been helping us work through any problems. The are complete angels and I still can't believe they are mine!!

Physically I'm doing well. It was tough the first day home but then I realized I had gotten off schedule with my medication. What a different it makes!!! I had some issues with my bladder after the procedure. After they removed the catheter, I was getting sharp shooting pains anytime my bladder would get too full. It was so bad the first time they tried to get me to pee that I sat in the bathroom crying on the toilet. They had to put the catheter back in just to get me to empty. I had to force myself to go every 2 hrs or so so that my bladder wouldn't get too full. Apparently it's rare that it gets that bad for someone. I was just lucky I guess! I feel much better now though.
Oh well, I should probably be sleeping since they are sleeping now but it's hard. When they are sleeping is also the only time you have to get other things done.

Sorry I don't have time to get into personals but I hope everyone is doing well with their babies and to everyone else, not too much longer now!!

Congrats Cynthia!! I know what you mean, people tell you "sleep when the baby sleeps". But dern it, when the baby is sleeping I have things to do...like wash clothes, cook, and clean. So I really get NO sleep at all. I guess it'd would be easier if my husband helped, but he works a full time job and two part time jobs so it's all on me to take care of Gabriella. Maybe sometime soon she'll start sleeping better and I can get some sleep too!! (can you tell no sleep is making me grumpy? LOL)

Cynthia - I'm so glad to hear you and babies are doing well. I so understand the exhaustion. There's no way I can sleep when the babies do. There is so much other stuff to do. I'm glad to hear you are giving the twins breast milk. This has been the most frustrating part for me. I'm still trying to get my supply up for 2 babies and it seems like it's taking forever. I'm getting around 5-6oz total now. I just hope I can keep the supply increasing by the time I go back to work. Sorry to hear you had bladder problems after the c-section. I'm really glad you didn't have the spinal headaches like I had. I never had a headache that bad.

AFM - Things are good just exhausting. Ren is finally over 4lbs! We were so excited at his last appointment that he finally gained weight. Now we just have to get through his other appointments. He goes to a urologist this friday. When he was born, they had to do a chromosome test to make sure he was a boy. There was no doubt in my mind that was he was and looked like a boy. The reason they did the test was because his penis is attached to this testicles. I guess sometimes when they see that, it's really a girl. The test confirmed he was a boy though. Anyway, we were told when Ren is closer to a year old he will need surgery to detach his penis from the testicles and can be circumcised at that time. In January, Ren has to see a cardiologist. There's a opening in his heart that they think will close but he needs reevaluated to make sure. So far, they haven't heard a murmur. I get upset when I think about everything he has to go through at his age but he is a strong little guy.

Here's some pics of the twins...

Hi Ladies,

I delivered a healthy baby girl on 12/07. Labour was induced yesterday at 9am. After 9 hours of labour and 45 minutes of pushing, she was born!!!!

She has been doing great. Less crying, more sleeping, good breastfeeding etc.

Name: Faith
Weight: 7lbs
Height: 19 inches

Will write more later.

Tara.

Ladies, I feel so out of the loop! I just noticed on facebook that Nicole (ianmichael) had her little on last Friday...where have I been?! I guess we're all getting to be much busier now!

Tara, Congratulations girl! So glad things are going well for you. Sounds like you have a good baby on your hands. :D

Amy, breastfeeding has been an ordeal for me too. Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time and have threatened to quit many times! Actually, I've given up on bf and have just been pumping. I try to give them breast milk during the day and formula at night. I'm not yet producing enough to have them exclusively on breast milk yet. I can only pump about 4 oz at a time. I can get 7 - 8 in the mornings if I don't pump at night. The good thing is that the formula helps them sleep longer at night since it takes longer to digest. Our pediatrician says what I'm doing is fine...the babies are gaining weight and are healthy. He's really good at being supportive of whatever is working for us. So for now I'll continue to do both. I'm fine with them getting just a little bit of breast milk so...

I'm so sorry to hear about all you and your babies have to go through with their health issues. You sound like you're being really strong about it though which is good! You're a great mom and will get through it all :D I cried the first time Jos threw up and it tugs at my heart when they cry and I don't know what they want and I can't seem to do anything for them. So I can only imagine how these things tug at your heart. Your twins are adorable though and you're doing a great job! Twins are definitely hard work but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

My babies are doing well. They both are gaining weight and seem happy which makes me happy :D.

Aims and Cymplicity, Your babies are adorable. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Tara, Congrats on your delivery. Glad it all went well!

AFM:
I had my OB appt. yesterday. I'm dilated to 1 so far. She also stripped my membranes in hopes I will go into labor sooner. I've been pretty crampy all day today so we'll see if that worked at all :D

Am I the last one left to deliver?
