GHOST - no heartbeat detected at 7weeks

Post by rsdrisco »

Ghost: I had my 1st transvaginal u/s at 7w1d after ER and the RE saw a yolk sac and fetal pole, but no heartbeat. The fetal pole was measuring a week behind at around 4.9mm (and the RE said she normally likes to see it measuring around 20mm at this point).

I have a second u/s scheduled for next week where they expect to see size increases and a heartbeat. If not, we will take measures to end the pregnancy.

Please level with me, as I want to be realistic about the probable outcome. Is this most likely going to end in a miscarriage? What are the REAL chances of next week's ultrasound showing a strong heartbeat?

I have had 4 miscarriages (4weeks, 6weeks, 11weeks, and an ectopic) in the past as well as one that resulted in live birth 4 years ago. So I am used to miscarriages (although, you never really get used to them). I am expecting the worst here, so hearing it from you won't shock me.

Thank you.

rsdrisco, so sorry to hear your news. Same thing happened to me in May this yr measuring 1 wk behind had very faint heartbeat but unfortunatley the following wk it had died. I really hope your little miracle hangs on and was just a late implanter - i think Wishfull's 2nd twin wasnt discovered till 12 wk scan. Miracles do happen. We also had our 2nd miscarriage recently no heart beat at 10 wks. Its funny you dont get used to the m/c but when you find out you are pg you know thats not the hardest battle anymore! You have been thro. so much and i really hope all is ok.

The fully open and honest answer is that these slow ones usually don't make it.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Thank you for your honesty, Ghost. I figured that. I guess I just needed to hear it.

I'm so sorry. :(

I didn't have an in-depth ultrasound when i got pregnant with my son, but they told me he wasn't going to make it (his heart was low, and something about the sac was really big but the baby was barely visible...) and he made it... I shouldn't give you any kind of false hope though.

I'm so sorry though, and I really hope you do have a miracle pull through for you.
