first IVF attempt failed

Post by SwedenIVF »

first IVf attempt, pregnancy test was negative. I cannot believe how devastated we both are. I responded well to treatment, 15 eggs, 7 developed, 2 embryos implanted.
And now nothing, I feel so sick. Luckily I work at home and have been hiding under the covers. Crawled out to look at this website again.

I am in the same boat as you. We just found out yesterday that our first IVF failed...it was absolutely heart breaking to hear those words. What are your thoughts for going forward...can you do it again?? I keep thinking about all the meds and the time and can I mentally do it again...ugh!! Well I am right here with you..I also work from home and have been hiding under the covers being miserable.

do not despair

Post by elles »

hi hi
my thought are with you . please do not loose hope. there is light at the end of the tunnel. i know how you are feeling i was in the same boat as you. to make matters worse IVF is not available in my country so i depended on nature and prayers and nature , and it paid of. on april 13th 2008 i gave birth to a big girl named kerryl-maria and she is a prayer answered.

i will pray for you to help you to acheive your dream.

Thanks...prayers are always more than welcome. I know its something I need to be patient about and I think we all try so hard. It seems like the harder I try to be patient the more it bothers me. In my situation we are keeping it just between DH and I so its even harder to not let people know what we are going through. I am thrilled that your dream of being a mommy came true - hopefully ours will soon too!!!

hi
just to let you know that you are in my prayer and surely oneday your dream will finelly come true. for me it took 8 years and today when i look at baby kerryl-maria she really make my day. i feel sad when i see people who are fighting hard to have their dream come true. so the only thing i can tell them is to pray god and keep having faith . i did it and it paid off.

tell your husband that you are both in my prayers .

This was my first IVF. I have failed as well. I just received BFN on Aug 3. We have no frozen embies for FET. I don't understand why. I am so devasted. I have cried my eyes out. And the doctor didn't say why. I have being question everything the doctor, me, whom to blame. I am so depressed.
Our insurance doesn't pay for any infertility treatment. We paid so much money out of our pocket. That was all our savings.

We didnt have any frozen either which makes things even worse when you hear that "sorry your not pregnant news". It is insane how much it costs and what we have to go through only for it to not work. We have just decided to try something new...my DH has a problem with his sperm not being exactly where they should be and his urologist recommended something called Proxeed. We checked into it and actually purchased it on Ebay (It is super expensive) but all natural and the studies show that it helps so we are going to give that a shot and see if it improves things.

I am so sorry for your loss..having just gotten my own bad news I can totally relate - especially to the crying your eyes out part . Have you looked into any infertility studies? We were looking for some but they are all so far away and have criteria we dont fit but there are some out there. Maybe you could find one and be eligible.

Thank goodness for message boards - it definitely helps to know other people are going through the same things, its a lonely place to be here in no baby land :(

My dh had vasectomy. So we only have two dose left. He had it done over 9 years ago. I don't know if we are good even candidate for reversal. :(
I will check for some infertility studies. I just go crazy of thining what should I do next. You feel so vulnerable and desperate with fertility doctors. My doctor called didn't even say sorry. She wanted to talk about round two. Urrr, it feeled it just a business for them. Oh, I am sorry to hear about your loss.

Thanks for all the responses. It really does help to hear from other people going through the same thing. Trying to build up energy to try again, very frightening but ...

SWEDENIVF, I also failed first IVF cycle. I couldn't believe it. I have a 4 year old daughter and history of tubal problems so IVF @ 37 years old seemed like this was going to work. I'm starting to get the impression that most x's it won't work first time. Each try your success rate goes up. I just thought I would be a slam dunk but it doesn't work that way :( I'll probably do FET next time but I get the impression less of a chance since 1st cycle was with blastocysts. It is worth it though going through everything. I was very lucky to have my daughter had 2 tubal pregnancies before her. I miss holding a baby in my arms maybe oneday all of us will :D

We are in the same boat as you (got a negative test in Sept) - some days are easier than others. Have you decided what you're going to try next? I hope everything goes well for you - I know how you feel!

going for second attempt

Post by SwedenIVF »

Thanks again for all the comments on this thread, it helps a lot to know there are other people struggling with the same issues. I hope so much that it works out for us all.

It took my partner and I a long time to recover from the first failed IVF attempt. Luckily the clinic and the doctors are very aware of the emotions involved. They take time to listen.

We had a meeting with the main consultant who said I have a 40% chance of getting pregnant with IVF, having considered all the medical parameters.

We'll try again at the end of January, will have acupuncture again, avoid coffee, alcohol, eat healthily etc etc.

All the best

Hi Lizziej

what a good post, thank you for sharing your story. It was really interesting as I am starting my first cycle of IVF in April - period due 8th so we will start then.

22 eggs is fantastic - Wishing you really good luck for the next bit of your journey. Really hope you get your BFP.

Well I just found out abt our first failed ivf and my hubby's out of country on a business trip. I had already prepared myself of positives or negative outcome....yea i did cry...... hidden in my back office but my hubby told me DON'T WORRY...may be God has twins for us next time. I do have faith in God....I guess this wasn't the right time. I had 13 embies 4 were fertilized (3 abnormal) So only 1 was injected. I'll have my regroup in 2 weeks again. Should i go with another doctor or stick with the same....kinda confused....

My sympathies with you! Felt the same a few months ago. Feeling terrible and devastated, I decided to look at other options too. I am looking at IVF in BioTExCom in Kiev. I hope I am able to experience happiness again! Good luck to you.
