Progesterone suppositories after ivf - how long?

Hi,
I am 10 weeks 1 day pregnant w/ twins today and yesterday was supposed be my last day on Endometrin (progesterone suppositories).

I am so worried wondering how the RE knows my body has completely taken over as everyone is so different. Would really appreciate when any of you went off the progesterone after IVF? Thanks so much!

Hey Bubbles,

I went off of mine a few days ago when I was 11 weeks and 4 days. So far so good. My Ob said that this far along and the amount of progesterone our bodies are making that the supplements are "just a drop in the bucket". I too have been really worried about going off of it and I was on estrogen too. Last night I even had a dream that I snuck and gave myself a PIO shot!

If you read back on the June babies board we all posted our meds and how long we had to take them for. Some people even went off of theirs before you and everything is fine.

Hi DillysGirl, thanks for the response and suggesting the piece in the June thread...I read through all 17 pages looking for it:) but it provided some piece of mind knowing there are so many different views on it.

We went for our 1st "real" OB physical/u/s today. Best part was watching both the LO's doing the "jigg" as the midwife called it. Worst part, DH and I were very unhappy with the midwifes bedside manner as saying it was bad would be a drastic understatement. She was rude and did not address my concern about coming off the progesterone at 10 weeks and said it was up to me to continue or not as they don't usually prescribe anything past w/ the IVF clinic says and wrote me a prescription. I called the hospital's chief and feel better now as they re-scheduled me to talk to the OB chief of staff on thurs...I could care less about bedside manner as long as they are knowledgeable and provide answers, so hopefully this will go better:)

But in the meantime, they told me that after consulting w/ the a couple of the Dr's basically they said that if you put 2 Docs in a room, you'll get 4 different answers and said I could certainly choose to continue but if IVF clinic said to stop at 10 weeks it would be ok to stop. I am continuing on half the dose (100mg endometrin & 1mg estrace) now, to just keep some peace of mind. I will see if they will give me a blood test on Thursday to see what my levels are and then may be I'll feel comfortable going completely off.
