Sister has offered me her eggs!

Post by karent30 »

Hi :)
I am 32 and have been ttc for 3 years. I have had 2 IVF treatments cancelled due to poor response since Sept 03. I have been told that it is not worth me trying again with my own eggs although i am currently disputing this but last Friday my sister rang to offer her eggs she has completed her family and is 38. This is older than the guidelines except but because it is sister to sister they can consider it! It has thrown me a bit as it is a huge decision to make but i am lucky to have this option available to me! Does any one else her have a simular situation to me!

Hi Karent
Last year I recieved eggs from my cousin, it is no different then having your own eggs except you dont have the pain of ec but I did miss the seditive!!! I am about to receive eggs from a sharer, your sister is a very special person to do this for you , you will have to both go to councilling but its not that bad , it certainly makes you think of a few things!!! When are you starting TMT?

Finding it hard

Post by karent30 »

Hi Thanks for you reply, it is nice to find someone who also had a known donor. I havent actually said yes to my sister yet but she is so up for it that if i said no she would be very offended now! My main concern is that she will be the biological mother, she will know that and so would MY baby and that really upsets me cos i want to be the only mum! Hope i am making sense. I have an appointment soon to see if i am allowed to go again with my own eggs and if it is going to be worth it! Then my sister is my next option. A big part of me would want it to be an unknown donor so that I am the only mum, but then there is the whole thing of the child being able if it wants to find its true mum at age 16. I am fine with that but i think that would be tough on a child. When do the laws change about the unknown donors name being released?
How long have you waited for an unknown donor?
Are you currently doing the TMT?
I wish you all the luck in the world and would love to know how you get on!

Hi we story so far I am on my 2ww and test next monday , I recieved 2 donor eggs from an egg sharer and both fertilised thankfully . I have to say that I would probably not share again as you get so little chance of many eggs at least with your sister you would get them all. if this fails the last resort is my sister and she has said she would do it and she is only 31 this year . DH has said yes but only if we have exausted every other possibility which I understand. The anonamous thing ends in April next year .

How are you getting on ?

Gogi22: I am sorry to hear that. You should believe everytning will be great. Chemo seriuosly damages health, but often is the only treatment. I know eggs freezing is becoming more and more popular, particularly in such situations.
