1st IVF after 5 failed IUI

Post by amanda1979 »

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are about to start our 1st cycle of IVF. I am feeling depressed because I don't think it is going to work. let me give alittle hx here. I had a 12 cm cyst on the right ovary which was removed but they took some of the ovary with it. So now it looks like only my left ovary works and our last IUI I only had two good size follicles. My doc told us yesterday I have a low egg resovior and we should do IVF. I am only 30 and my husband is 28. All of his test are came back great! But what if we pay the money and I don't have enough mature eggs to use? Having a hard time here getting excited about IVF.
thanks for reading.

Amanda try not to be too discouraged! The Drs are pretty good once you cross over and go for IVF. They will know from your records that you may be a poor responder and give you the best protocol for that so you never know!

I have yet to start the IVF process but wanted you to know that your state of mind can play a lot into it. Why not try and get yourself a good meditative CD that can help you stay calm and collected? I did and it works wonders even though I have not started IVF just yet ;)

Thinking of you and wishing only the best!

Blessings.

amanda1979 - Some people on this board get lucky and get BFP right away with no problems. There are alot of protocols ,myself was on antagonist protocol which is for poor responders.I'm not a poor responder though actually high responder which can have their own set of problems. I unfortunately am going on my 3rd cycle :( Hoping this will be our last. I wonder about our first cycle if I had mild OHSS and that could have caused my endometrium to be not receptive to the blasts when transferred. FET was sooooo easy, wish I had more frosties. I did get prego but had a miscarriage  I'm 37 half my little eggs are probably bad  so luck of the draw. You NEVER can know with IVF. My FET I never thought I would ever get pregnant they transferred 2, 2day embies one was a 2-cell and the other 4-cell. The first cycle I had blasts. Go figure  IVF is a mystery to all of us. Take one day @ a time and good luck. :D

Don't worry, Have faith

I am going on my first IVF cycle after 1 failed IUI. I was devastated when pregnancy test was negative. I have my fallopian tubes damaged and I'm only 24. My Husband is 25. We have decided to have two embryos transferred by January. I'm hoping for twins. It is so stressful. I don't know what I would do if the IVF fails. IUI is totally different from an IUI. Don't give your hopes up.

Amanda - I'm also starting IVF after 5 failed IUIs (well, one was an ectopic). I'm scheduled to have my ER and ET the week of Jan. 25. I totally understand your feelings and will definitely keep you in my thoughts...I'd love to share this journey with someone going through the same thing. There's so much money and stress (emotional and physical) involved, but it will hopefully be worth it in the end. All that you're doing is for a very good purpose. Keep your spirits high...Maybe there are some really great plans for you in 2010!!
