OHSS

Post by indyfan »

I am wondering if anyone out there is struggling with Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome right now? I sure am and I am miserable. I am 16dp5dt. Diagnosed with PCOS. I got my first Beta yesterday of 576 which I know is fantastic. However, I have been so miserable for the last 2+ weeks that I don't know how to feel. I had a paracentesis done last Thursday where they drained 5 liters of fluid from my abdomen. I felt good after, just winded. I'm still winded and I only find relief when I'm sitting in a reclining chair. I've been drinking a lot of Gatorade and Smart Water for the electrolytes. I don't know how else to explain it except that I am extremely frustrated, uncomfortable and downright sick of feeling this way. Every time I eat I can't stand up straight because my abdomen feels so full. I'm afraid I might have to have another paracentesis done. Which btw it doesn't hurt at all except for a little needle pinch, but I just don't want to have to deal with the whole process again. I'm praying for some relief and for this to go away soon. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this?
Thanks-

You might ask your doctor about cabergoline. Some studies in Spain in the last couple of years have shown it works fairly well at blocking the cause of OHSS. Many clinics have started using it. Unfortunately, it seems to be better for early-onset OHSS (from an hCG trigger) than late-onset OHSS (from hCG from the pregnancy).

Also effective is albumin IV. This has been used for years.

Keep your doctor fully informed about everything. Be assertive. If you feel you need emergency care, don't hesitate. They do not know nearly as much about OHSS as your RE does, but they can contact your RE and follow his instructions.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

i'm sorry to hear you're going through this, but i am happy that you got your BFP. i had the same thing at the beginning of my pregnancy. it lasted for about 3 weeks. i had the fluid drained 4 times. i learned to eat very small meals very often. the RE gave me cabergoline after my ER for about a week and that made it go away, but as soon after my ET and the embryos implanted it came back. i asked the RE to put me back on the cabergoline but he said that was a med that i shouldn't be on for too long. the only comfort i can give you is that it will go away soon, i promise. the way i dealt with it was just focusing on my BFP and that made it much easier to bear. you wouldn't have the OHSS so bad if the IVF didn't work. good luck.
