First timer with FET after 1 successful IVF

Post by pink98009 »

I am fortunate to have a 1 year old resulting from a successful IVF. I was wondering what is the recommended waiting time after IVF for a FET. Also, what are typical drugs used with a typical FET?

FET's are so much easier than IVF on your body. My protocol was bc pills, period, then estrogen pills (some do patches) then 1 weeks before transfer you start Progesterone injections (or suppositories). Only 2 u/s while getting ready to make sure the lining was thickening. Good luck.
IVF/ICSI 3/07 Froze All 36 eggs
FET 5/07 BFP; DD born early (26 weeks) 10/07
IVF/ICSI 8/09 Froze all 30 eggs
FET 11/09 BFP! TWINS from just 1 frostie! YIKES.

pink98009,

my RE says you need to have at least 2 normal periods before starting FET.

Meds are usually bcps, estrace pills or patches, then progestrone, then transfer. Then the dreaded 2ww. short, pretty simple and not as hard on your body.
Miscarriage @12 weeks, 2000(natural)
1st DD born 3/21/05 (IUI)(3 IUI's)
2nd DD born 11/17/08 (1st IVF)
FET: 1/21/10, BFN.
FET:2/25/10, BFP. 1st beta # 459; 2nd beta #1106
June 2010, late miscarriage at 17 weeks, baby's heart just stopped beating.

i think $700 for FET meds seems a little high if it is for only meds through your beta. If i remember correctly most of the pills are covered through insurance (doxy, medrol, estrace) so I just had the $10 copy of each then the progesterone + syringes was like $120 for 10ml of POI. You need about 3 bottles of POI to get you from the week before transfer until the end of the 2ww. If you get a BFP then you will need enough POI to get through 9-12 weeks depending on how long your clinic has you on it. Then it will be about $500-700.

thank you very much. I am also still trying to find embies. I am a single mom by choice, and 45, so that is an ideal plan for myself. Cooper has them, but there is a waiting list I hear... tia, Ann
