I was wondering if there is anyone on here currently undergoing IVF treatments in Canada? Thanks

Theresa welcome!

I am from Canada (via London, UK) and will be doing IVF/ICSI in the summer, sooner if we can raise the cash. Just wanted to wish you the very best when you start cycling :D

You may want to check out the IVF threads from the drop down menu too ;)

Blessings,

Hi,

What part of Canada are you from? I'm in Nova Scotia. I am currently in an active cycle and I'm pretty nervous. I am on nasal spray right now and then Thursday I will start my injections. Is it expensive in the UK like here to to a treatment of IVF? I'm so scared it won't work. I do know I have to keep positive. All the best to all on here

Theresa I am originally from London, UK and now reside in Canada and have for the past 8 years. Not sure about the UK but know that IVF is covered on the National Health Service but there is a waiting period depending on where one lives. Some couples opt to pay for it by going private for treatment since waiting takes a toll.

We currently live in The Yukon after moving here from Alberta and before that Ontario.

We have to pay out of pocket here and man, it is pretty expensive huh?

I wish you the very best as you embark on this journey to motherhood. Do your best to keep a positive attitude, take each day as it comes and try to stay relaxed at all times. Your body is going to be working very hard once you start stims.

Blessings.

Hello,

YES, it's very expensive. I think around 10,000. The medicine is outragous. Have you done IVF before? Are there clinics in Yukon? My friend lives in Yellowknife. I'm 37 and I'm worried that my body won't respond. So nerve wrecking but again I have to keep positive. If I don't try this I will never know right? I wish you luck also when you start.

Theresa thanks! I wish the same success for you!

Yes after we factor in travel costs as none of the treatments will be done here, we'll be going to BC to do it. We are looking at about $12k so it is not cheap. Flights, accommodation, ferry crossings. food, it all adds up. As you state it shall be worth it.

What is the reason for IVF unexplained? Ours is male factor.

It's funny I know a lady from Yellowknife and she just had triplets and she went to the same clinic as the one we will be using :) I will state we do not want triplets!!! ;) A healthy baby will be suffice!

Blessings.

Hello Ladies

Post by Faith2009 »

I'm currently in an actvie cyle of IVF in Halifax Nova Scotia. The clinic I'm at is Atlantic Assisted Reproductive Therapy. The reason for my infertility is blocked tube. My DH is perfect. I'm currently on my stims. The injections have me very bloated. I go for my bloodwork tomorrow to see how if the follicals are growing. Please wish me luck. I know I will have to take then still for at least another week. I wish everyone here BFP in 2010!!!!! This will be our year

Theresa I am hoping that the next week goes by smoothly and each day your stims continue to work on your eggs beautifully and that you have a great ET.

Keep the faith and here's to your BFP! :D

Hello all of you - I am in Canada, too (Alberta).
Sorry I just saw this post now.
I also used IVF last spring and used the nasal spray (to down regulate prior to using the fertility meds - injections for me).

I am currently 8 months pregnant, and thought you might be happy to hear that you can get a positive outcome.... and the expense can be worth it. ;)

I had tried IUI and had many unsuccessful years of ttc before IVF. $10,000 is pretty much standard cost here, as far as I can tell.

If you have any questions about the meds or other things, feel free to ask.... I might have to look up a few items, but I'm happy to do so if it helps. :)

Good Luck!!

DandMe - I just saw that you were having your egg retrieval today. I hope it went well!!!! If you are sore or unable to walk properly for days (up to a week afterward), that's entirely normal and don't let anyone tell you differently. Everyone responds differently.... I had a tough retrieval myself, but it was definitely worth it. ;)
