IVF after Accutane

Hi Everyone,

I am getting ready to finish up 6 months of Accutane and we are looking to start another IVF cycle. I will finish up the end of January and stay on bcp until the end of February as I need to be off of it for one month before TTC. I was hoping to start a new cycle in March, but it may be longer by the time they do my HSG and other tests (it will have been one year since my last IVF cycle).

I am looking for anyone who has had a baby after being on Accutane, how long you were off, etc. I have several friends who have been on it (all conceived within 3 months of trying so no fertility issues there), but were off anywhere from 1-10 years. All have healthy children.

My derm said one month, but I've read others recommend longer. I have an OBGYN appt tomorrow, then my RE appt at the end of the month, so I want to get their opinions as well.

I'm interested to read the replies you get. I was on Accutane twice, but I was 16 and 18 (I was 31 when I went through IVF). I know they scared me to death about getting pregnant when I was on Accutane (not that I wanted to at that age!). If it were me, I would wait longer than a month after getting off Accutane to go through IVF. Good luck to you!
