My RE put me on heparin therapy & asa because i tested postive &/or bordeline for all of the IgA antiphospholipid antibodies.
I did not test postive for the IgG or the IGm ones.
so ive been on heparin since the start of my ET and just last week i went to my new OB. The OB was suggested by my RE.
So as a BIG shock to me, my new OB said that I don't have APS and there is need for me to be on the heparin. She stated the only antibodies that are IgG & IgM are the ones that they TREAT!
She said people who test postitive for the IgA antibodies, there is no clinical need to treat.
All of my other test were normal, my lupus was neg, all the factor v, clotting test were all negative!! nothing abnormal expect a positive ana, (which i know is so unspecific in many people) and im not worried about that since everything else is negative...
so my question to you is, im just very confused as to who i should listen too as far as the heparin goes. This is my first pregnancy so no prior history or m/c, (but a strong mother hx of m/c).
Im kinda scared to come off the heparin since the IgA cardiolpin antibodies are not that well studied and from what my OB said, they dont really mean much?????
But why then did my RE put me on heparin? Was they OVER treating me and just doing EVERYTHING possiable for me to have a baby, even though it might have been a bit over the top?
My OB gave me the option to stay on the heparin or come off, but she really sugested me to come off the heparin because it could cause more harm than good to me. Ive been watching for bleeding and my ptt's have been in the low 30's so that good.
anyways, there is not alot of info out there for the IgA antibodies and from what ive read there is not alot of info on what the IgA do, if anything...
How does your clinic handle women who test postive for antiphopholips anitbodies? Im sure they treat the IgG, & IgM ones, but do you treat the IgA ones??
thanks & sorry for such a long post...

side note: im almost 10weeks and both babies are doing great & great size and hrt 181 & 183 at 9 weeks
