Diabetic and BFP!!

Post by babyluv123 »

Hi

Just came to know few days back I have pre diabetes. My fasting sugar is 130 and post lunch is 217. Well Diabetologist suggested that i take 6 units of insulin in the morning and 4 units in the night if I want to go ahead with IVF.

Question 1: Any diabetic with successful pregnancy
Question 2: Will the sugar levels affect the baby
Question 3 : Should I first try getting my sugar levels down with diet and exercise and then go ahead with the IVF without insulion - ( I am 26 now and dont actually mind waiting for a couple of more months before trying the next cycle)

My AMH is 0.0 but the RE said that since i make atleast 6-8 eggs per cycle out of which atleast 2 fertilise....AMH should not cause worry :(

Please reply ladies!! Ghost : help!!!

I am a diabetes Nurse so I can help you out a little:-)

Question 1: Yes, it is hard work because it is important for you and the baby to have normal blood sugar levels but we see it happen every day!

Question 2: Yes your blood sugars will effect the baby it is important to maintain normal blood sugar levels. If you have meet with a Dietician she will help a lot and let your diabetes doctor know your numbers the further you go the more insulin you will need (the baby makes hormones that make your baby resist insulin)

Question 3: You should get your numbers down but whether you are on insulin or not should not affect things it is more important your numbers are good not how you get them there. You can talk to you Doc. you maybe able to take metformin to get your numbers down and you can take this through pregnancy.

Can't answer the AMH question, but hopefully the rest I have answered will help a bit :)
