Ghost or anyone - another bfn advice please

Post by joyanna »

Hello Ghost and anyone else

I had an FET on 6 Jan, transferring 2 blasts - and it is a BFN. My dh and I are gutted. TG we had our dd in 2006 and since 2007 we have been trying for number 2 with 4 FETS all BFN, 2 IVFS that resulted in miscarriages. Age is factor too .....42 this October.

Ghost - would your clinic be telling us to walk away at this stage? I know that this is probably what our clinic will tell us. Or is there anything new that we could try?

If we are to try again, I think that it will be someplace new with some good stats with over 40's. Does anyone know any clinics in the US or UK that have good results with over 40's. my clinic's stims protocol during ivf is standard 10 days of puregon (normally 225 for me) and 75 Luveris but I have read that the 'flare' protocal can work well but my clinic does not use this approach.

I suppose the first step is probably to check FSH and AMH - will I get accurate results if I do these tests after the bleed after this failed FET?

Oh I am all over the place. It is so hard to walk away and admit defeat!

Any input would be much appreciated

I see in your signature that you have been achieving pregnancies. It seems your clinic is reliably achieving pregnancies for you with fresh embryos but not with frozen.

I hope they give you the choice of continuing, whether or not you opt to do so. The decision should be yours.

Flare cycles work about as well as conventional stim cycles, perhaps slightly better in poor responders. Once in awhile we have a patient who does much better in a flare cycle than with a conventional stim, and we wonder if it was just random chance or if the flare protocol really was better for her.

The AMH test may be done at any time, because AMH is produced by very small follicles that are not affected by your menstrual cycle. The FSH test should be done on about cycle day 3, because it comes from your pituitary and is very much dependent on where you are in your cycle.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
