IVF in Canada

Post by kala0704 »

My friend is going to have to do IVF because the doctors says that is the best route rather than doing a vesectomy reversal. She lives in Oregon. Ive heard about some people going to Canada to do IVF and I figured since she lives close maybe she could go up there. Anyone know of any clinics that are good? How much is IVF in Canada? Any info helps. Thanks!

Clinic in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada

Post by Faith2009 »

Hello,

I'm currently going through treatment of IVF in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The clinic name is A.A.R.T(Atlantic Assisted Reproductive Therapy). They are great there. Their website is http://www.aart.ca/. Good luck

I am currently undergoing treatment in Canada. I have had 3 failed cycles of IUI and one failed cycle of IVF in Egypt. The Doctors and costs are about the same as in the US but in Canada be prepared to wait much longer. The clinic I am currently at now wants me to wait another 4 months to see the doctor again to re-evaluate my treatment plan so hubby and I are looking for another clinic here in Canada or back home in the US where I can be close to family atleast. Either way it is quite expensive as your friend will be just like I was for the 3 IUI cycles...uninsured. An uninsured IUI cycle was about $2700 and the IVF at the same clinic is about $12k including meds give or take a bit because their prices do change. I wouldn't say that doing this sort of stuff is any less expensive in Canada. If it were me though, I would do it somewhere close to home where you can have the support you need during all this from family and friends. She would have to keep in mind also if it is not something she can drive back and forth on a sometimes daily basis, she would have to find a hotel or somewhere to stay so this and food etc is an added expense. I say all of this not to be negative but because my husband and I are looking into the same thing right now and trying to figure out exactly how much money will be needed to do a cycle in the US.

IVF in Canada

I'm not yet undergoing, but saving $ to undergo ICSI in Vancouver BC. The cost with meds is around $10,000, give or take. If we get extra embryos that we can freeze, the cost for the round using those would be about $1,000 plus meds. The meds looked to be anywhere from $2,500 - $4,000, depending on what is needed.

Definitely a financial strain, even in Canada! I guess I'll find out what the actual costs are once we've had a chance to save the $ and give our first try.

costs

IUI in BC - where I went anyway was just over $300/cycle plus Clomid which was about $60.00 - we didn't do superovulation which costs a little more. Unfortunately in our situation, the IUI with or without superovulation just isn't going to do the trick :(

We'll be getting our ICSI done at Genesis Fertility in Vancouver, which I've heard good things about. The clinic in Kelowna does the IUI but not IVF which is why we have to go to Van.
