3rd Cycle FET - July 2004 - Negative
4th Cycle ICSI - Nov 2004 - BFP (Oh my GOD)
NO - YOU ARE NOT ALONE
I too will be cycling in May, I start my burserelin injections on 3 May, this is my 2nd attempts at ICSI, first attempt was in October 2003, then FET in January, so alot more apprehensive this time around, and stressed to the max!
How about you???
1 failed ICSI, 1 failed FET, next treatment starts in May with EC on 1 June 2004, hoping for a 2005 baby!
Hiya Lotti Thank goodness it's not eerie Indiana for May cycle buddies. Well we are both on our second ICSI (my first was cancelled just before egg collection due to poor response of the FSH injections). I had 2 good follies and 11 little ones.
I have to admit I was gutted when they cancelled at the end of March but my consultant said that it was only my first go and that he wanted to up the drugs and try me on a different injection. So I am back on the contraceptive pill plodding on and have my scan next Wednesday which last time resulted in stopping the pill and starting the sniffing If all goes well then probably egg collection wil be last week in May .... but as with everything I won't count my chickens just yet!
Are the burselin injections for down regging or are they for stims (sorry but I'm not all the knowledgable on all the different protocols)
I look forward to cycling with you hun and hopefully there may be more of us soon.

HELLO,
Had a blood test this morning will find out tomorrow if all levels are ok and I can go on to injections. My little acupuncturist also said today that monday will be my last acupuncture until after impantation, so its always nice whe there is an actual change in the whole thing. But I also had a bit of bleeding today so I'm not sure what that means -will have to wait ans see.
I have 2 scans schedualed on 2 and 9 May and all going well Egg retreval on 11 may but as i know from all these posts anything can happen in between.
Went to Yaga as well today so feel spaced out lady of leisure.

Ooooooo!!! 3 of us now -we are growing slowly but steadily!
Nickie - my god I think I would have crumbled if my treatment had of been cancelled, especially when you get yourself prepared and focused and nothing else seems to matter, what a bummer. Are you having private or NHS treatment?
Yes burserelin is an injection version of the "sniffer", so it is to down reg me. They had run out of the sniffer my first time around, so I did injections, everything went really well, so I guess I am just following the same old route again.
Well our egg collections run very closely, yours is last week in May, mine is set for 1 June (all going to plan that is - let's hope so!). ICSI again for me (and you?).
Bronagh - my god that is ages for sniffing, you poor thing, but at least light at the end of the tunnel now! Let us know if your blood test is okay tomorrow.
Interesting what you say about your acupuncturist, as I am also having acupuncture and herbal teas (yuk), and mine has said no probs to keep taking the herbs and acupuncture throughout - but I am unsure about this, and no one really seems to have a yes or a no answer. But, I think I will stop the herbs before I down reg, and then stop the acupuncture after EC, as a few posts on here say they have had it right through.
Well, girls, its all go now, let the cycling begin!
1 failed ICSI, 1 failed FET, next treatment starts in May with EC on 1 June 2004, hoping for a 2005 baby!
Hope you are both fine and dandy on this beautiful Friday (and the weekend is supposed to be grrrrrrrrreat too) hooray
Lotti: It seems we should be very close to each other with progress like you say (fingers crossed) ....... and yes it did knock me for six having my treatment cancelled but at least I had only spent £1,000 instead of the whole £4,500 - I can afford to swallow losing £1,000 but not the whole amount so my way of thinking I get to go ahead for another try straight away. I plan to have a rest after this treatment so I am hoping this one goes ahead!! I am with the Lister Hospital in Chelsea, who are you with??
Bronagh: GOOD LUCK with your blood tests results today - let's hope you can FINALLY stop sniffing - if you do then you should be a couple of weeks ahead of me and Lotti so you will hopefully be our first May Buddy success
Am wondering why a lot of you seem to be doing acupuncture (I can't really afford it on top of everything else) but can you let me know what purpose it serves??
Write soon
Love
Nickie

My blood test today they said my level of ? was too high (cant remember exactly what it was ) and that I will have to go in for another test on Monday morning. I have also strated bleeding but it doesnt feel like my AF. Anyway more tests on Mon.
As for Acupuncture I have a great book called fertility and conception by Zita Wst a midwife who is also into comlementary therapies it has a good section on preparing for IVF in it she says on acupunture.
" there is a great deal of documented evidence on acupuncture and electro acupuncture. A swedish study in 1996 established that eletro acupuncture improved uterine blood flow in infertile women. Many studies show it can help
-improve male infertility bu improving sperm quality
-lower raised FSH levels sufficiently for an IVF cycle to commence.
-relieve symptims of edometriosis
-induce ovulation in women with polycystic ovary syndrome
-bakance hormones levels
-regulate the mentrual cycle, especially i shortening a long cycle.
-improve general health
"
she aslo says that in Chinese medicine alot of doctors says that western women have something called a cold womb which makes it difficult for a embro to implant. This is what my Chinese doctor said I had, it can also help to improve blood flow to the uterus around the time of ET.
Costs here have been £25/session slightly more for first session and apart from anything else its very relaxing, she also told me to say of alcohol, spicy food, orange juice and fried food. Still cant work out the orange juice but however.
Hope this makes sense to you, there was also a string a while back where people discussed al this you can find it if you look back at the old strings.
Anyway gotta go and do some work., have a good day.

Damn girl, I was thinking of you over weekend (as I was away from home so unable to check my PC to see how your blood test went until this morning!) and really was hoping you would be telling us you were ready to start the stims, well hopefully after tests today you will be ready - fingers crossed for you babes xx.
Nickie
HI there - you ask about our acupuncture, I have heard alot about this book Bron talks about by Zita West, might get it (although I have 3 others already, and dh thinks I am going mad, and says I could probably write one myself now...........) anyway, yes, my acupuncture costs £25.00 per sess also, although if I paid upfront for 10 I got 3 extra free, so I did. I am going to stop taking the herbs and pills this week, (that's an extra £37.00 on top of the acupuncture EVERY week) as I start my down regging next Monday. Acupuncture and herbs also improve blood circulation to the womb area, and realign your "chi" which is energy flows throughout your body, and also strengthen your liver and kidneys which play an important part in making sure womb hangs on to those precious little embies. So even through very expensive on top of IVF (if going private) I felt I just had to try it this time around no matter what, just had to cut back on spending for past 2/3 months
Nickie I am at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead (up North) how is your treatment going so far then? Any side effects etc??? Are you finding it more intense this time around....?
So Bron - let us know results from today as soon as poss.
1 failed ICSI, 1 failed FET, next treatment starts in May with EC on 1 June 2004, hoping for a 2005 baby!
I too have also been away from my PC this weekend so Bronagh sorry to hear about Friday - I hope you can report back today with more positive news
Lotti: Still plodding away on the pill but have my first scan Wednesday so should start to down reg then on the old sniffer (I had a very long period after my treatment was cancelled though which is slightly worrying (9 days in total) - normally just 5 so I hope this hasn't affected the pill's job Anyway, we shall see Wednesday. I shall also be finding out what injection I shall need this time around - the consultant wants to try something different to Gonal F and also a higher dose to get my follicles to do their THING - come on you wee fellas - you can do it this time around!!
Thanks to both of you for your info on acupuncture: I will have to consider this option but I may be too late. Do either of you know if I can still take my vitamins through the treatment i.e. vitamin B6 as last time when it was cancelled and I had PMT I nearly killed my DP coz I was like a Grizzly Bear
Well, have to get on with work so await your updates.
Love
Nickie

Let's hope they can advise you to start down regging on Wednesday, It's weird how different clinic's do things differently; I don't have a scan until 9 May, which will be 7 days AFTER I start my burserelin injections, yet you have a scan BEFORE you start your sniffers - strange.......... anyway I am sure this time around things will go alot more smoothly as they know now what your body reacts to, and what it doesn't.
I am still going to take my vitamins Nickie, although first time around my clinic told me to only take folic acid, but I have been reading a great book also call "Natural Fertility" by Marilyn Glenville and you can order her vitamins on line (for you and dh) they are called Fertility Plus for Women and Fertility Plus for Men, and include hundreds of important vitamins and minerals for both of you, all in the correct daily dosage. Anyway Marilyn recommends all chinese herbs/pills are stopped throughout treatment BUT to carry on taking the vitamins, so that's what I am going to do this time - we'll see.
Bron hun - where are you? How did it go yesterday? We are thinking of you xx.
1 failed ICSI, 1 failed FET, next treatment starts in May with EC on 1 June 2004, hoping for a 2005 baby!
Phoned this morning my hormone level is at 150 and they like it to be down to 50 or maximum 100 to start injections so Ihave to keep sniffing for another week and then have another blood test next thursday, result on Friday and all going well will start injections then. So all my other scan dates etc are wrong and by the looks of things I will be stretching into June. Considering i started in march it sees such a long time.
Anyway I feel alright about it as long as I know whats going on I've waited this long so another week is not going to kill me.
I'm off for a sauna hope your both stress free.
Bye for now.
Bro
Can I join the May cycle buddies? I had my initial scan on 19th April and started sniffing on 21st April. I have another scan on 29th and will hopefully start injections then. Next scan is 7th May and retrieval (cross fingers) will be 10th May.
This is my first IVF treatment so all is new to me. I've been sniffing since Thursday and have been getting slight headaches since saturday and also I have an uncomfortable tummy. Not painful as such but I can feel soreness when I move, roll over in bed etc. Has anyone else had this with the sniffing and should I be worried?
Are there things I should/shouldn't be doing to enhance the chances. I have stopped drinking alcohol and I do not smoke. I probably only have 3 cups of coffee a week.
I wish us all luck and hope May will be our lucky month.
Shellie,
Good to have another one along the more the merrier, its my first IVF as well and have not had any of the symtoms you were describing but I've given up all tea and coffee, strenious exercise, alochol and am eating lots of fruit and veg nothing with E numbers.
You may see in the acupuncture threads that alot of people have been having this as well. I've been doing it every week and find it relaxing its its also supposed to help at all different stages for different reasons would highly recommend it..
So theres nothing else to think about only lets hope this is the only cycle we have to go threw.
