Defeated today

Post by T3 »

I'm 34 and this is my first ivf cycle. Egg retreival in 1/16 and transfered on 1/19. Process have been complicated with OHSs and peritonitis. Lots and lots of pain. On pain meds almost everyday. Have taken 3 Hpt and all negative. Last one I took was today which is 10 days after transfer. Should have been positive. Going for blood hcg in 2 days. Heard it should be over 100. Not looking good. Would appreciate any suggestion.. Support.

You didn't say what day you transferred, but it's not over until the blood test comes back. We have a lady on the Jan/Feb board that did a pee stick (BFN) the day of her beta and the beta hcg came back POSITIVE.

Please join us over at the Jan/Feb 2010 board and get some positive support. :)

Don't give up hope yet. On my first cycle I got a negative hpt the day before beta, I cried all day and was ready for the phone call the day after and surprisingly it was positive. It was a 90 and I keep asking the nurse are you sure and repeating my name cause I was sure it was gonna be negative. Sadly I had a miscarriage but I'm ready for my second cycle. Don't loose hope and stay away from those evil sticks :D

The girls are right, T3. Don't give up hope. One of our girls in Jan/Feb cycle thread recommended www.peeonastick.com. It has some good info about POAS. Like when to use them, how they are commonly mis-read and recommendations about which ones to use, and which ones NOT to use. All these things can play a factor. WAIT FOR THE BETA! That's the ONLY real deal. False negs in POAS is FAR more common than false +s. Keep the faith!

I an sorry to hear of the OHSS and the negative HPTs. HPTs are simple to do but tricky to interpret. Negatives usually mean "try again later". If that was a day 3 transfer, then a negative HPT is expected at this point even in a successful cycle. If that was a day 5 or day 6 transfer, then yes, it should be positive by now in most cases. But there are viable pregnancies that don't show up on HPT until 10 days after a day 5 transfer, and lots of them at 10 days after a day 3 transfer.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Personally I am completely against POASing! I did it in my first cycle and got a positive. I took one the next day and it turned positive in like 30 seconds. I was so excited...I looked through my old maternity clothes, made a pregnancy calendar and started planning. I went for my beta 2 days later and the nurse said if the POAS was positive then I was PG. That afternoon my beta results came back and it was 18. A beta 2 days later was a 3. I had a chemical pregnancy.

No matter what the POAS reads, you really don't know for sure until the beta. A negative could still mean you are PG and a positive can still be a chemical.

For my second cycle I waited until the beta, which was actually 3 days longer than the first cycle. It was hard, but I didn't trust the results anyway of a HPT. The night before my beta (13dp5dt) I had bleeding. I was sure the cycle failed. Beta came back at 960!

Hang in there. It is hard! But only the blood test can tell you if you are truly PG or not.

I know.. I know

I really hate those HPT. I stare at them all the time. I can now understand how alcoholics feel when they see people drinking. It's this urge to do it, but you know it's going to be bad for you. Sad.. Well I'm going to find out about my beta result today.

I'm not sure if I'm excited for scared. The thought of be disappointment after all this is hard to imagine. All morning I've envision how I would respond to what the nurse would say to me. How would my husband respond? Should I tell anyone else so that they would stop asking already? This is all assuming the beta is going to be low of course. I guess it would be easier for me to think it would be negative and deal with all these thoughts than to be positive and then have it all crushing down on me.

Anyways, I'm getting really anxious thinking about it. Thanks for reading and support. It's nice to be able to express my thoughts instead of trying to keep it all to myself.
