Hi ladies,
I recieved my "baby in a box" from the pharmacy the other day. Wow! There was so much stuff in there I was a little itimidated by it. I'm afraid I'm going to mix something up or forget to use something. :? Did anyone have a system for keeping track of what is what and when to take it. Also they gave me some rather large looking needles (18 gauge)! Anyone know what those are used for? I dont mind needles so much but those look like they are going to hurt :!: I just hope those arent the ones I use for the intramuscular injections. Also, I am still learning some of the lingo and I noticed "PUPO" and cant figure out what that means? I tried to check the general page but after several pages still couldnt find it.

Thanks for any input and I'm so excited to finally have this thread going!

babyhopes Breathing is a good thing!!!! Breathing with under anesthea is critical!!!! PUPO---pregnant until proven otherwise. Ok, on to your baby in a box. The fact that it has arrived and you are not tracking the shipping is the first step. this worked for me: clean off a table or space on desk, meds in fridge designated spot, needles and other supplies on your cleaned table. Get a small calander to keep track of med doses. For the sub cutanous injections, (cause i am a chicken) I used ice packs for 5 minutes the gave shot. Next i rewarded myself with a treat!!!! The 18 gauge needles...WOW..... it should say with meds they are for, they will be for im injections only. Hope this helps alittle.

rayofsunshine Be nice if I got your name right huh??? Typing in the dark is as bad as reading in the dark!!! GO TEAM DONOR :D :D :D

turtle619I am so sorry for your BFN, but very happy to have you join us. I am also doing an antagonist protocol, we are on the same schedule.

rlk1 BCP today, yea for you. When I started the BCP, I at least felt like I was doing something.

claud662 Congrats on the Feb FET.

AFM- I am on day 2 of 3 days of provera, to welcome AF. Then the BCP game begins. I am not as stressed out as I have been these last few days, having a plan works.

Hi all!

Writing to you from snowy VA. They're now calling it a Blizzard. Crazy!

Bei: Good to see you here! You're right, it sounds like our cycles will be really close in March!

Claud: So glad you came on over to check-up on us!! You MUST post here while you're on your 2WW!!!

hopeforbabies: I believe the 18 gauge needles are for the PIO (progesterone in oil) shots. Those are the shots you'll take after the retrieval until your Beta (and, hopefully, for 10 weeks after your Beta since you WILL get preggo!!). My nurse took pity on me and told me I could draw up the meds with the 1.5 inch needles (18 gauge) but switch to a 1 inch needle for the injections. Something to keep in mind when the time comes!!

Misocial: Yah, I suppose you're right. One pill down, only 20 to go! How soon after the provera do they expect you to get AF? Hopefully soon so you can get this party started!

Have a nice WARM weekend, everyone!

Hi all!

Normally, I don't post on message boards, I just lurk. :) But, I thought I would jump in. These are a bit intimidating, because of all the lingo and its hard to keep up, but I'm going to try. My husband and I have been TTC for over 7 years. Last year we went to an RE with plans for September, then I lost my job...now I am scheduled for March. I was supposed to get my box of meds Friday and then today, but I got a call this morning that they are stuck in Pennsylvania, in the snow storm. Its a good thing I ordered them early! I start the lupron on Feb 16. So I'm anxiously awaiting my box, scared to death and getting really really excited all at the same time.

Hi all!

I am taking a much needed break from my crazy week/weekend to check in!

VictoriainAZ-welcome!!! I really struggle keeping up with everyone but it is completely worth it because there is tremendous support and info. on these boards. I feel like these women are the only ones who "get me" when I am ready to go insane or give up. We are all here for you! I hope the snow stops long enough for meds to get to you on time.

rlk1-blizzard? I was just complaining about the few inches we got Friday and the few we are suppose to get tomorrow. I'm a total baby-I love HEAT! I'm with you-really happy to "see" everyone here while sad that we all have to be here on yet another board together. This is the LAST with BFP for all!

Bei-Seems like we've been on "wait" forever. What is your schedule this time? Best of luck-I'm cheering you on all the way!

Claud-I know we've cycled together but I can't remember-did you just do a fresh cycle? Is this your first FET?

hopeforbabies-the meds are so overwhelming. I am the most forgetful person (the main reason I'm terrible about personals on a large board!) Once you get started it really won't be hard to get into a routine. I had large needles for the PIO like someone else mentioned and to draw up the menopur to mix. I switched to a smaller needle to inject so I would ask your RE.

misocial-I haven't been on Metformin but I am 100% convinced I never want to be now :) How long do you have to take it? Isn't it crazy that you take Provera to start AF then BCP to stop it? Love the hoops we put our bodies through for this craziness. I HATED Lupron as well-glad we skipped that *!@$

turtle-I hate that you had a BFN but it sounds like you've got a new, hopeful plan. This is the lucky board for sure (I don't think it is too much to ask for 100%).

jaydentd and rileybabymaybe-Hi ladies! I am sending lots of PMA for this new round-best of luck!

AFM-I just stopped taking BCP so now I get to wait for AF. But...if I don't start by the 11th they are going to do baseline and start me on estrodial. My donor starts meds on the 18th. I am actually, for once in a LONG time, feeling excited and hopeful (hope that doesn't come back to bite me in the butt), for a new plan and to get the show on the road!

VictoriainAZ Welcome, fasten your seat belt and hold on. This is the wildest ride I've ever been on.

rayofsunshine I too find it funny how our entire lives tend to revolve around AF. I wish I knew how long before she arrives, then I will wish her gone. Love/Hate relationship!!!!

AFMStill waiting for AF, the provera only gave me cramps. Cramps to go along with the metformin nausea and bathroom trips. I have heard that some RE's are using it for weight control.....as if I dont have enough things on my plate     . My RE said it would improve follie quality??? Still looking that one up.
Well we did not get the snow 5-9 inches so I guess I have to go to work. Not everyone 8) gets a blizzard!!!

Hello ladies! I'm from the Nov/Dec cycle and Jan/Feb2010 cycle. I failed 1 donor egg IVF cycle in Novemeber. I had a emotional break down and viral infections and irregular periods in the last 2 months. AF came again and I just saw my RE on saturday. He gave me the schedule on the same day. I started to be on YAZ BCP yesterday and will stop on 2/26. If everything is going smoothly as expected, I'll start Lupron on 2/20, donor ER on 3/15, and 5dt on 3/20.
Nice to meet new ladies here! And Hi to ladies known from the past! I don't know if anyone take YAZ BCP before. I see the commercial about YAZ is for PMDD. I don't know why RE gave the samples out to my donor and me as BCP. But today, my mood is feeling better. I guess I really have PMDD or hormone imbalance. But I feel stronger and I hope tomorrow it's getting better as well. I'm no longer be able to tell whether tomorrow is better or worse.

Sara Hoping to hear good news from you and your donor!

VictoriainAZ: hope Lupron can arrive on time! I'll be 4 days later than you to start my Lupron!

misocial: trying to do AF dance for you!

hopeforbabies: Sorry but our clinic ordered the meds for us and delivered to their office. The pharmacy called us for charge card info. We'll go to the clinic to pick up the meds. PUPO means pregnant upon proven otherwise. I know there is a acronym page explaining the short form. I don't know where it is in this forum. Maybe someone can help!

rlk1: I agree with you. This one got to be a lucky one. crossing fingers for your snow babies!

Franny: Sorry for the BFN! I also hope the pain and emotion get over ASAP!

I everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

misocial I hope your AF comes soon! How long will you be on BCP for? I hope your tummy feels better from the Metformin soon. Let me know if you find out anything on it improving follies. I'm interested to find out if it benefits us in more then one way.

rlk1 Thanks for the idea that maybe I can switch to a smaller needle after the PIO is drawn up. I'll make sure to ask my RE about that when I see him on the 2nd.

victorianaz Welcome to the board. I too lurked on the boards for a long time before I decided to introduce myself. I wanted to learn the lingo and was waiting to see when we would start our journey. I'll pray that your box arrives to you safely.

rayofsunshine I'm glad that you are excited and keeping the PMA for your cycle. I'm hoping you get a BFP with this donor cycle and that everyone on this thread will too. Do you know when they will transfer the DE to you?

zozo38 Welcome and don't be afraid to ask any questions. These ladies are wonderful and have a wealth of knowledge.

dodo928 I'm not sure why your RE gave you Yaz for BCP. I know they are given to help with PMDD and to prevent pregnancy. I'm glad they are making you feel better! Maybe that's just an added benefit. :)

bei You are right the painful shots will definately be worth it in the end! The alarm idea is great and I will definately use that. My RE hasn't really told me when I will be taking all these meds, but I'm sure I'll find out on the 2nd.

AFM - DH and I were able to spend the whole weekend together which was nice. He works most Saturdays and we are usually busy on Sundays playing catch up on house projects. We spent the weekend relaxing on the couch and didn't do much else. :D

Hey Ladies.. Looks like I should be a go for March/April. Not for sure yet, but might be doing a double cycle. My sister is going to cycle to give me her eggs and then I am also going to cycle. We will transfer the best from both. At least that is what I am planning now. Both of us start BCP today, and then we have u/s on Wednesday. From there will get our protocols. ER will be the first week of April. I think I might actually have some PMA for this cycle. Lost my PMA a long time ago but seeing that my sister is involved brings me new hope. My sister is older so the odds are still low that this will work but I have seen lots of gals 39 and older getting PG so I figure might as try.
Here my long story if you are bored and want to read it. Started TTC 5 yrs ago, was unexplained infertility for the longest time. Did lots of months on clomid then finally went to the RE. Did 3 IUI's and then went to IVF. First IVF cycle was canceled due to poor response, RE thought that I was over suppressed on Lupron. 2nd IVF cycle was canceled due to high E2 levels and developing follicle and not being suppressed. 3rd IVF cycle, stimmed for only 7 days. 6 eggs retrieved 3 mature, transferred 8, 4, and 3 cell on day 3- BFN. 4th IVF cycle, canceled, not suppressed. 5th IVF canceled - no response 6th IVF cycle - flare protocol, 2 retrieved 2 mature transferred 3cell and 5 cell - BFN. Onto new RE.. 7th IVF cycle 5 retrieved - 3 mature 2 fertilized none transferred because they didn't make it to a 5dt. Onto 8th IVF cycle - the best cycle yet.. 7 retrieved 6 fertilized on day 3 had 8cell - 7 cell and 4 4-cells. we transferred the 8&7- BFN So onto the next cycle. Now I am diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve, I tested positive for ICC which are cells that can kill of the embryo and I am now with a different RE that thinks I have PCOS. Who knows, this journey just has been a long one.

Just a forewarning, I am bad trying to keep up on posts but seeing that I have more PMA now, I might be better then the previous boards I have been on.
Good Luck to all.

dodo28 I was also given Yaz my first cycle, I had to stop it cause it kept dropping my blood sugar. I did not notice any mood changes but I only took it for a week. I must say I am concerned about the number of people that have had problems with it. Be careful, if it dont feel right call your RE.

hopeforbaby Glad you and hubby were able to relax and enjoy each others company. You can very easily lose sight of each other while on this roller coaster!!!!

to-have-fun-08 "EVIL LUPRON"   it over suppressed me my first cycle too. You have been through so much, reading your story made me teary. I had my first cycle cancelled on day 7 of stims and cried like a baby for 3 days, then I was mad and sad. I dont know if I could take all that you have been through. Enough of that !@$^*%%&^*^%% PMA PMA PMA We all need a christmas baby!!!!! :D :D

Bei I sure would like to know when AF is suppose to come. Provera thurs fri and sat....come on already....ready to cramp and cpmplain!!!!

Here is what I have foud out about Metformin:
Oxford Journal...blah...blah....blah
CONCLUSION: Short-term co-treatment with metformin for patients with PCOS undergoing IVF/ICSI cycles does not improve the response to stimulation but significantly improves the pregnancy outcome and reduces the risk of OHSS.
Appeartly it has uses in PCOS... I have also read about it being used for weight loss.
Meanwhile back at the farm..... nausea and diarrhea continue, supposedly it should only last a week.HA!!!!!! I bought gatoraide today cause I am getting dehydrated already. Maybe AF waiting is not such a bad thing. This too shall pass. LOL
