sruppe wrote:Well RE called today and out of the 7 they retrieved 2 didn't do anything, 3 they are still watching and 2 fertilized. I realize it only takes one but that was heartbreaking to hear. He said they are watching the other 3 just to be sure. They have moved my transfer to a 3 day instead of 5 since we didn't have but 2 that are good as of this morning. The ET is now scheduled for Sat 2/6.
Hey there... Embryos can do strange things. When I had my transfer, they said they didn't think any of the other TEN eggs would make it to freezing.... I was so sad about that.. they were all doing well and then only two really jumped ahead so we transferred those two.
Then they called yesterday and said not only did they freeze FOUR, but one of them was actually hatching! So we got one 6AB and four 4BB babes on ice.
Just focus on the good news. We started out with 15 fertilized eggs and ended up with six...

DandMe i am also on the progesterone suppositories but i am only taking it 3x a day and they are only 100 mg each. You said they are affective, but in what way? what is their purpose really?
The progesterone is needed to counteract the other drugs. Your estrogen is so high that you'll possibly abort the embryos if they don't even it out with the progesterone. Progesterone is producted naturally after ovulation - I have had some low progesterone issues and the suppositories are effective in keeping my levels high. Without the progesterone, you would most likely lose the pregnancy. they are VERY important.

I guess I will be going for blood test in early AM since still no AF!!! Does everyone not drink alcohol while doing stims? I have had drinks (sometimes alot) every time I have been on them. This time I am taking Menopur, so I am not sure if I am not supposed to. Do all of you do progesterone shots? I have the vaginal kind, and I had them last month too. Kind of gross, but my RE said shots are painful. I hope to be starting stims Saturday!
Lauren I asked my nurse if I could have HALF a beer while out for lunch with my husband two days before ER and she said by no means should I have ANY alcohol at ANY time while on the IVF cycle.

Hey everyone! I got an update on my two fertilized eggs and they said they are now 4 & 5 cells with no fragments so I was excited. I am hoping we have 8 cells tomorrow morning! We are still doing the ET tomorrow morning and I am still unsure about doing it tomorrow over 5 day but I will discuss that with my RE tomorrow. Any thoughts from anyone on the difference between 3 & 5 day transfers?
Lauren- I didn't do any alcohol at all and I even limited caffeine during stims. I also have the vaginal progesterone and so far they don't seem that bad.
Sonya- thanks for the positive encouragement! I will be doing the 2ww starting tomorrow!
Desire- the embryo glue is used for the ET and is said to increase implantation by up to 34%, however you see stories both ways that it does and doesn't help implantation so it is a personal preference. I didn't know about it until after my egg retrieval. I am going to ask my RE why we didn't know about until after then buy my guess would be they didn't want to offer it until we actually got to that stage and the retrieved eggs....
Molly05-thanks for the support! I am sending good thoughts and positives your way to!

Hi Ladies,
I am new to the board and have just been sitting back not sure where to jump in but I have quick question. I had my retrieval on Wednesday, they got 28 eggs, and so far 21 have fertilized. I won't get a status report on my embryos until tomorrow. However, my question is how did you feel after the transfer. My tummy is oh so bloated. On Wednesday I could barely stand, yesterday I started to feel better, but my tummy is still supper bloated and really tight. Anybody recently do a retrieval, how did you feel after. I'm assuming maybe so much pain because there were so many eggs retrieved.
Hi Santee! Wow 28 eggs... yes you will be very sore, but you also need to watch out for OHSS. I was at high risk and was told to have a high salt diet, it helps absorb the extra water. I had 22 eggs and no signs of OHSS, although bloating and tightness is normal, and I did have that.
Congrats - post your fertilization rates soon!

@DandMe - thanks for the reply. Funny thing is my doctor told me high protein and low salt. INTERESTING. How are you feeling I see on your blog you have chosen to test everyday. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Although I like the idea of testing away the the HCG positive, OR NOT . At this point I think I may try to just wait it out, but we will see. I'm scheduled for a Monday transfer, and am waiting on a call to see how my embryo's are doing.
Hey Santee-- I know... I've heard so many different stories from so many different clinics. I don't know why, but I instinctively ate high protein - one night I had an entire t-bone steak - not like me!!! Must have worked because I have NO OHSS symptoms now.

Just a really quick upate.
Sante- Wow 28 Embies is awesome... I just wanted to tell you that when I had my ER that same afternoon I was in so much pain and I couldn't take the tylenol with ocding because I have a allergic reaction to the codin so I had to take darvocet instead. I felt like that through out the entire time. They say if you have really bad period cramps then that how long you will have it. If you do not get any cramps then you wont have so much pain. Every person is different. Try not to do so much... Read a book or watch lots and lots of movies...lol Let us know how you continue to feel and the grades of the embies. When are you schedule for your transfer? are you a day 3 or 5. I bet you are going to be a day 5 because you had so much. I was also a day 5. I had 21 one less then you.
Sruppe- Thanks for the info on that glue never heard of it and i asked my nurse she said the do not offer it because they think it does not work? They have different studies and they do nto offer it. ??
How are you all doing? I'm officially 3dpt5dt and the waiting is starting to drive me crazy. I wasn't feeling anxious about it for so long - it just seemed surreal and there were so many numbers and appointments and I guess that with the reports every day I knew things were progressing along. But now that it's all up to me, there are no lab reports, no numbers, nobody watching over my babies making sure they are growing....
I've googled and googled and the earliest I can possibly see a real bfp is about 5 days past a 5 day transfer. That's Monday! My test today had a really super uber teeny line, there, but barely. So I'm pretty sure that any line I get after this will be real.
How are you all doing??

Hi Desire_270. How are you? Thanks for the info, glad to know I wasn't the only one. I took darvovet the day of the retrieval but I so hate taking pills so I just suffered through it. Today I felt good enough to get a bit of exerecise, since after Monday it will be feet up for me till I get my BFP.
On another note, my nurse called today to confirm for Monday but won't give me a time till tommorow, and she told me the lab doesn't give them any info on the embryo's. Of course I told her all the ladies on the internet get a daily report, what is up with RBC. I will definately be speaking to my Dr. about this on Monday. We are also doing PGD, so she told me the Dr. will give us a full report before the transfer. However I want to know how many cells, like everybody else.
Oh well nothing I can do about it now. Best of luck to all you ladies. I'll keep you posted.
santee- Wow! 21 fertilized eggs...that is fantastic!! Good luck with your fertilization report.
Sonya- I give you so much credit for being able to take your test everyday. I really hope this works for you. Best of luck during your 2ww.
Sruppe- How did your ET go?
Lauren- There are mixed reports on alcohol in moderation. I figured, since I was spending all of this money, I would lay off. It's a personal choice though. Good luck.
Devan and Desire- Best of luck this week!!!
As for me... I trigger tonight at 8:00 and my ER is Monday morning. I am SO nervous, not for the procedure, but for the outcome. I am hoping for some good embryos this time. My DH will be in Texas for work, so my mom is taking me. Here's hoping for some good eggs!!
Hey everyone! ET went great we transferred a 1 & 3 grade 1 being the best 5 being the worst. My first beta is schedule for 2/18 so now I wait. They also gave us a picture of the two they transferred which I thought was neat! I do have some fluid in my ovaries but they say that is normal....anyone else have that issue?
Shermy- good luck with your egg retrieval!
Sonya- need some help to make sure I am interpreting the 3dpt5dt correctly...what does that mean? You are a strong person to being a test every day kudos to you!
Desiree- the glue is one of those things that is still very debatable in the IVF world...it really is a personal decision. When we researched it we found studies that went both ways.....

sruppe, glad to hear everything went well...it sounds like you got some good embryos! That is cool that they give you a picture of them...wild stuff! Good luck with the 2ww and keep your positive attitude (and I hope it flies by for you!)
I am just at the beginning...day 4 of Lupron and so far aside from a bit of irritability I feel okay. Saturday I go for bloodwork/ultrasound and hopefully begin stims.
I hope the time flies until your beta!
