Beta Question

Post by Amy17 »

I just finished my 2nd IVF cycle. I had my first beta on 2/9/10 and it came back positive at 467. My second beta was today and it came back at 709. I'm a little nervous that it didn't double. I asked the nurse and she said as long as it went up its good. Has anyone else had a 2nd beta that didn't double?

I would say it just about doubled. Pretty close. Are they doing another beta? 467 is a really good initial #. How many days past transfer did they test? How many embryo's did you transfer? I was going to say it is really high and could mean more than 1.
Good luck to you..!

That happens all the time. Sometimes it signals a pregnancy loss, other times it still goes all the way to live birth. Many women have posted numbers like those on this board and still had a live birth.

One theory, impossible to verify, is that the pregnancy may have initially been a twin implantation, but one was lost very early on. So perhaps the hCG production from two embryos was slowed a bit when only one embryo proceeded. If that happened, we should see numbers just like yours.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

My first beta was 10dp5dt and my second was 12dp5dt. We transferred two embryos. I have to wait a whole week for my next beta and two weeks for an ultrasound. I don't know how I'm going to last that long!!

You can see my beta numbers in my signature, it did not double either and I am currently 20 weeks preggo with healthy twins. I had my betas 10dp5dt, 12dp5dt and then a week later too. When my number did not double initially the nurse told me that I probably had twins and lost one. Looks like I proved her wrong! Moral of the story is that Beta numbers aren't indicators of much except that you are preggo! Your number had a nice increase so you definitely got at least one baby on the way. Congrats!
