Shermy; I know it's hard to be positive, but with six your chances must go up. Like you, I became a research hound to deal with the wait/depression that comes with this journey. What happened to having a happy 'oops' and getting a baby nine months later? (((hugs)))

Shermy-this is my first IVF and I can tell you that I have low ovarian reserve and started taking DHEA (doctor recommended) about 2 months prior to even starting stims. Since this is my first IVF I can't really compare it to see if it worked but I can tell you the doctors were quite excited with my 7 eggs and quality! I have also done acupuncture which is suppose to help that as well. I never thought I would enjoy acupuncture but I love it! Hope this helps some...

As for me my first beta was today and it was confirmed BFN! This was a one try only since we don't have insurance that covers it. I will be focusing on my teaching degree which is almost complete. The state insurance has IVF benefits so I guess we will revisit IVF again in a few years and just take a chance with my low ovarian reserve issue.

Hi,
I'm new to this board and feelilng a bit overwhelmed by how many people are on here, but also feeling a bit alone in this process so it's nice to read other stories. I'm 38, husband is 45..got prego on our own 2 yrs ago but resulted in blighted ovum. Tried IVF first time around was miserable, nearly OHSS very bloated and uncomfortable, poor egg quality. But got 25 eggs, 11 fertilized via ICSI and 2 made it to day 5, 1 poor and 1 fair transferred, no pregnancy. This time around we decreased dosage a bit and I feel so much better, had ER yesterday, got 23 eggs, 16 were mature and all 16 were fertilized via ICSI. They gave me egg quality grade this time, which I didn't realize they did because they did not give me that last time. I have to wonder if it was because all my eggs were poor quality and they didn't want to tell me? Anyway, this time they said of the 16 eggs, 3 are good quality, 11 fair and 2 poor. Is that normal? Is fair egg quality ok, can those result in great quality embryos? My numbers seems a little better this time, and I feel 100x better so I hope that is a good sign, but don't want to get to excited yet. It's a tough wait.

Sruppe I'm so sorry I missed this message - and so sorry for your BFN. I hope that with the insurance you'll be able to try again, and in the meantime, keep your hopes up for a bfp on your own. ((hugs))

Hi Mooligan; I can't comment on what will happen or what's normal or not normal, because I'm pretty new to things as well. We had 22 eggs harvested, 18 fertilized, we lost three right away and of the remaining 15 we ended up with two 4AB 5 Day blasts that we transferred and four good quality embryos. I got my bfp this cycle but I'm not counting on anything until we see the heartbeat. I'm really hoping your cycle is successful. How many did you transfer?

So, I have my BETA on Monday, but I refuse to POAS (I just can't do it!). Is it too early to have symptoms? I'm sue I'm just getting my AF, but the last 2 mornings I've been nautious and I can't get rid of this stupid headache! But at the same time, I have cramps, so I'm probabl just getting AF. I hate looking too much into things, just curious!

Wow, I haven't been able to get on here for a while and so much has happened!

sruppe-I am so sorry to hear of your BFN and it is incredibly hard to keep positive, but there is a baby in your future!

Sonya-I was able to follow your blog and wow...everything looks great! Congratulations!

Shermy-I am with you-I never POAS, I just can't bring myself to do it! Try to stay positive and get through this weekend, one of those little embryos just might surprise you!

Mooligan-Welcome to the board...I know it seems like a lot of people and is somewhat overwhelming but it's a great place to share your story and get support.

Lyndsay-this is my first shot at IVF also...it's a wild time, but is very exciting!

As for me, I am almost a week into my stims and had blood work and an ultrasound Tuesday, Thursday, and I go again tomorrow morning. The doctor say the stims are working as they should...hopefully next week will be the ER. I am terrified and so excited all at once.

So glad to be back on here!

shermy-I am so incredibly sorry. There is not much I can say to make you feel better, but please don't give up hope. We will never know why there is so much struggle for people who want things so much. Just embrace the positives in your life and stay focused on that baby. Thinking of you.

Yes, I have 2 more tries left, but I need to pull myself together first. I also need to try something new (HGH or intralipids, I think). I am a mess right now. Thanks for the support!

Hi sruppe, I really haven't had too many side effects to the meds...while just on Lupron I got headaches, but with the stims I seem to be pretty comfortable. I haven't had bloating or anything...the most I can say is that I can "feel" my ovaries (or so it seems) when I walk. Does that sound weird? It's not painful, I just feel pressure in that area. I had bloodwork and an ultrasound today and the doctor said I would be back again tomorrow morning and most likely I will trigger tomorrow night!

Two more tries is fantastic. A lot of first cycles are almost like 'test' cycles so your clinic can see what you respond to (or don't). You have fantastic odds of getting a bfp within the next two cycles. I'd be a mess as well, so just do what you need to to get through it. ((hugs))

Molly it's not unusual - I could def feel my ovaries through my stims and that's a good sign. Wear looser clothing and be prepared for it to get a little more uncomfortable. You can read my blog through my stim process in January if you want a play by play on what I went through. How many follicles do you have and how big are they??
