Tara2009 - Gabriella is on a smiling spree too! She even smiles at me when I change her diaper! It is so cute to see how much she has changed since she was born, she's really getting a personality. She is even staying awake most of the day now and sleeping about 7 hours a night without waking up. Only thing that sucks is that she goes to sleep about two hours before we do and get's up two hours before we do LOL So we need to get her on our sleep schedule.

I took Gabbi in to her her shots last week....it was hard to see her cry so hard when they gave her the shots. She still has torticollis, which means she only turns her head to one side. Her head is beginning to get a little flat on that side, so we are working with her on turning her head the other way.

It's been quiet on here, where has everyone gone to?!

Hi Ladies,

I hope I can join you on here since I have been following your progress :-) I am a January mommy. I gave birth to my twins last Thursday and we are all home from the hospital. The babies were 6lbs 7oz and 6lbs 2oz and are healthy.

Although your babies are a little older than mine, hopefully I can contribute a bit to this thread!

Hi everyone!

I have been trying to get on here and post for what seems like forever! I read real fast all your posts to catch up. I'm so glad that overall, everyone's little ones are doing well.

Fox and Violet are three months now. I can't believe it's been three months already. Unofficially, Fox is about 12 lbs and Violet is a bit over 11 lbs. They have really good appetites. They have such little personalities now! They smile and laugh and coo all the time now (when they aren't crying lol). They are beginning to really enjoy certain toys and books.

They are SO MUCH WORK but they are so much fun. We really don't have any free time to ourselves, but we enjoy our time with them so much it doesn't matter. Plus my husband and I are really good about giving each other "me time" every now and then.

I started back to work, but I'm working from home. It's awesome and it sorta blows too. I miss my office and my co-workers, but I love being here with my babies. Though yes, it's hard to get things done sometimes!

Cynthia, I hope having Chaz and Jos in day care is going well.

Aims, I hope that all gets better for Ren. You are a champion for being able to have him on 100% BM. I can't even keep up with having them both on 50% BM. So they still get BM but it's mostly formula now.

We tried Violet on the soy when we thought the regular wasn't working for her, but the soy made her constipated. We're talking little pellets. Poor thing. So we're in the process of switching her back to the regular formula. Already it's made a huge difference. Plus I'm still nursing her a few times a day.

I have a question for anyone and everyone- how are you doing with daytime naps? Have you established naptimes and do you follow it strict? Like put them in the crib at the same time every day?

I promise I will be a bit more personal next time, there are a few of you on here I don't know but look forward to getting to know!

Hey Y'all! (in my NC accent  )

I can tell everyone is busy busy busy! It's been quiet here lately.

Tea, you're a trooper for even being able to do 1/2 BM! I tried that for awhile and couldn't hang :P . As far as naps go, before I came back to work it was whenever they fell asleep. No schedule at all. Now that they are in daycare, it seems they still aren't really on a schedule. They let them sleep whenever they get sleeping and play with them all other times. I would think it would be hard to form some sort of schedule until they are older.

Hey MedStudentMom2B! I"ve bumped into you here and there in other threads. Welcome and congrats on your twins! :D

Kelly, the twins got their shots a little over a week ago. I'm so glad they do them as fast as they do. They both cried a little during but settled down rather quickly afterwards. I thought it was going to be much worse than what it was! I hope you're able to work out Gabbi's torticollis without surgery. I'm praying for you guys!

AFM, the twins are good. Chaz is over 12 lbs now and Jos is around 8 lbs! So they've both doubled their weight since birth. Jos is doing 100% better since being on Zantac and I can't even remember the last time she vomitted. Daycare has been going great! When I get there in the mornings they are already smiling at their teachers and toys so I feel like they really like it there. It's also helped them to sleep better at night. I bath then around 7:30, bed by 8:00, they wake up for one feeding between 1:00 to 2:00 and again around 5:30. I can't figure out why Chaz is fine from 8 pm to 2 am but then is back up in 3 hours! It's better than every 3 hrs consistently I guess, so I can't complain :P .

Cynthia - do you bathe the twins everyday? That's a lot of work!! I bathe faith 3 days a week. On other days I just give her a sponge bath. But with all the spitting she does, she needs a bath every day!

I just returned from a trip to India, so I haven't established any schedule with Faith. I return to work on March 1 :-(

Faith got her first set of vaccines yesterday. She cried for a couple of minutes and was back in her good moods. Later after about 2 hours she started crying non stop for a long time. When I called the doctor office, the nurse said she might be in pain and suggested infant tylenol. By the time I gave her tylenol, she already settled down and fell asleep. Until now she is doing fine - no fever or anything.

Faith has umbilical hernia - her intestine is extending a bit into her belly button so her belly button looks elongated. Her ped said about 20% of the babies have this condition and it is quite common. Usually it resolves by itself within 12 months, if not a minor surgery will be done. I am hoping we can can avoid this surgery. Lets see.

Glad to know all moms are doing well, and the babies are growing well.

Tara.

Wow, I came here and thought I was on the wrong site at first! LOL When did they make all the changes??

Tara, we've started bathing the twins every night during the week and sponge baths on the weekend. Only because it's part of a routine to get them to bed by 8:00. Usually after the bath they settle pretty quickly and fall asleep. Before I got back to work they were only getting sponge baths every 2-3 days or so. I can now get it done pretty quickly and they seem to enjoy the baths now so it's good times

I thought it would be nearly impossible to develop any type of schedule with the twins but it wasn't as hard as I thought. I think going back to work helps...I had no choice!! I'm sure once you start working a schedule will develop on it's on for you as well.

When the twins got their shots, the doc recommended that we go ahead and give them Tylenol drops, which I'm glad he did because we never saw a period where they were crying or seemed to be in pain.

Chaz also has an umbilical hernia. Our doc told us the same thing about it resloving itself. I just thought it was an "outie"

Just noticed the attacment feature at the bottom...figured I'd try it out with the pic :D

Wow, I thought I was on the wrong site too but it has been awhile since I've posted. It sounds like everyone has been busy.

Tea - Things are the same with Ren. We took him back to the cardiologist this week. The fluid around his heart is still there. It hasnt' increased or decreased. They put him on ibuprofen to get rid of the fluid. It's not causing any stress on the heart so that's good but still not supposed to be there. Ren is still on 100% BM but Piper is on 100% formula. I made the decision to stop breastfeeding this week. I just have to figure out how to wean myself off the pump now. I'm not very good at watching what I eat, and I think that's why he spits up everything. I tried him on formula this week, and I haven't seen him that happy about eating in a long time.

Piper is now 11lbs and Ren is 8lbs. They are doing good. They are taking turns being fussy but they are finally able to sleep through the night in their crib! We've been trying to get a schedule down with them but it doesn't always work. I'm just glad they are sleeping at night.

I wish I could type more but I need to get back to work. I'm going to try the attachment feature later. Talk to you soon!

Hey Ladies!
How is everyone? It's been kind of quiet on here recently. 8)
I'm doing good, I'm feeling so much better since Gabriella is sleeping through the night now....well, most nights. She still has a night every now and then when she wakes up at around 4 am for a bottle...but then she just eats like one or two ounces and falls asleep in my arms. I don't think she is actually even hungry, just a habit to get up at that time.
Gabbi is doing good, although she's still having problems with her torticollis....so her head is a little flat on one side. I'm hoping it will get better and she won't have to wear a helmet.
She's still smiling at me all the time...it's so cute! She'll be three months old Tuesday...I can't believe how fast she's growing up!! In another month she'll be old enough to eat rice cereal...I can't wait to start feeding her! :D

Hope everyone is having a good week. The twins are doing good except for being really really fussy. They are having some major gas. Their doctor wants them to switch to Enfamil Gentlease. Has anyone used this to help with gassy tummies?

Aww too cute Amy! Chaz is on Gentlease and it works wonders for him. I don't even give him gas drops anymore. The doc wanted him on Enfacare at least during the day but it made him SO gassy that I made a mommy decision to take him off and go strictly Gentlease. He's much happier now!

Amy,

Your twins are so cute. I will attach Faith's picture when I figure out how!!

I am using Enfamil Gentlease for Faith. It does help with her gas, but since it is digesting fast, she wakes up every 3 hours. I couldn't get her to sleep for longer periods. I am actually thinking of switching back to Enfamil Premium.

Tara, the closer the twins get to 3 months (which is this Saturday) the longer they've been sleeping. Chaz was eating every 3 hours (could have been the Gentlease...not sure). Just last week week they started to skip the midnight feeding but was still waking up around 3 which meant I'd have to feed them again around 6:00 before daycare/work. Well they were only drinking about 2.5 oz during that 3:00 feeding so I figured they weren't really waking up because they were hungry. So, any time they woke up I went in, gave them their paci and they went back to sleep. Each night they were going longer and longer without waking up. Just last night they both slept uninterrupted from 8:00 p.m. until I woke them up at 5:30! I so hope this is the start of something and not a fluke, lol! I know they are getting enough during the day so it makes sense that they should be able to get through the night now. Does Faith seem really hungry when she wakes up at night?

Cynthia,

Faith will complete 3 months on March 7th. And yes, she is hungry when she wakes up in the night. She finishes her 5 ounces of formula quickly and then falls back to sleep.

Just yesterday, she slept from 10PM to 3AM and after a feed, she slept till 8AM. May be she is just starting to go into longer sleep sessions. I am thrilled already, but it has just been one day!! Let me watch for the next few days.

I am going back to work on Monday :-( I enjoyed each and every moment staying at home with Faith...I am going to miss all those good times. I guess I will get used to it soon.

By the way, when I try to attach a picture, it says the file is too big. Did you all compress the picture before attaching it?

Tara.

I didn't have to compress but I did grab the pic from facebook so it's probably already been compressed!

Now that you mention it, I'm sure them attending daycare has a lot to do with them sleeping through the night! They are exhausted by evening. They take a few naps at daycare and the rest of the day the teachers keep them pretty active. Will Faith go to daycare when you go back to work?
