Hazel, I am happpy for your blood test results. What a relief! I think being pregnant = non-stop worry....someimes, i think it is a torture.... . My stomach is about the same size...i noticed that it gets much bigger in the evening, so strange.
I would love to get a pair of stretchy jeans! I should go shopping this weekend.
Hi Racheal , welcome. I also have twins. Same here, i am hungry all the time. I have big lunch and snacks all day( plus nap after lunch )haha..i think i will be a pig very soon!
I am almost 9 week now. I will have my 2nd U/S next Friday. My bleeding has stopped(thank god!) i think that is a good news..but i dont have a lot of m/s that makes me worry about it everyday. Sometimes, i would rather i am vomitting everyday so I know my body is doing something. I know...I sound so stupid...But i guess you know what I mean.
Gamergirl/CK - how quickly did your m/s disappear when you were pregnant before (see below for why I'm asking!).
So...because naturally I just have to worry about SOMETHING, my m/s dramatically tailed off after 11wks4days and is barely there today, and my boobs have stopped being remotely tender. And that has me panicking that since we had the scan on Friday, something has gone wrong in there. The rational part of my brain tells me that I'm being silly, but because I expected the m/s to last beyond 12 weeks and then tail off more gradually, I can't help worrying. Unfortunately, short of getting another private scan done (which would be very expensive) there's not a lot I can do to ease my mind, so I just have to hope that everything is OK. I'm getting some aches and pains through my stomach (but then I've had those for a few weeks, I think it's just my uterus expanding and starting to move up) but no bleeding.
Hazel,
With my first I was sick until I actually had him. I had to stop three times on the way to the hospital to throw up on the side of the road. My doctor this time around got so mad when he found out how sick I was and that my doctor did absolutely nothing about it. Oh well that was 12 years ago so all water under the bridge now!
As for your m/s trailing off. Do you think it could be the acupuncture that is working for you? I am 11wks 5days today and my m/s is not as bad but I still have it. I am actually physically ill about once a day to every other day. so that's better. As for the boobs, mine are not sore at all right now. So maybe we have just hit the easy part now. I read that the second trimester is suppose to be the best. I would think that if you aren't bleeding or having sever cramps everything is good. I know this won't calm your fears but I hope it helps. I think another factor is the way we became pregnant. I know I am way more concerned about loosing this baby than I was with the first. My first was the best accident I ever had but he was an accident. I got pregnant naturally and was really upset the first few months and never thought about the what ifs. With this one I have worked so hard and spent so much to get pregnant that ALL I think about are the what ifs! am constantly worried about every little cramp or ache. I know with my tummy I am already showing and my uterus is stretching so I have the little cramps and such that you were describing. Like I said before you won't be able to stop yourself from worring but I seem to be right on with you in baby symptoms so i hope that will help ease your mind.
Hi there mommies. I post mostly in the Oct 2010 mommies thread but I have a question for you ladies given you are a bit ahead of me. When did you start to reduce your PIO dosage? My RE told me to reduce my dosage in half starting last night (I was 7w1d yesterday). I'm preggers with twins and we saw HB's yesterday and all looked ok. I woke up last night to pee and saw brown spotting and I was feeling crampy. And it has continued to this moment (it's mid morning here in NYC area). I left my nurse a message and decided to take the remaining dosage of what I reduced last night b/c everything I read this AM about stopping PIO says that most stop at 12w when the placenta takes over for sure. I'm really upset and feeling like something is wrong. Why would my RE do this? Seem wayyy to early. I have had super super light brown spotting since my betas but nothing like this. I feel like AF will start. They only thing that has changed is the reduction of the PIO dosage. Any insight?

Karen, i used prometrium and i stopped using it at 10 week. When I did my 1st U/S in week 7, my RE already told me to stop the med. But i continuted it until 10 week.
Maybe you can find out more info from your clinic later? I have bleeding since i was 5 week and i also have twins. You can ask for B/W to make sure everything is ok. But i guess bleeding is very common. good luck.
Wow, this thread has been really quite for a few weeks. Hope everyone is OK and just off enjoying their pregnancies and doing fun things!
myc, BRMommy2B, Gamergirl/CK, Rachel - how are you guys all doing? Have you had many scans/appointments since the thread was last active?
Rachel and myc - how are our twin Mums finding m/s? Hope it's been manageable.
Karen - I replied to you on the Winter Cycle Friends thread on your PIO question.
AFM, I'm feeling much more human now that I've hit the second trimester. I'm still having m/s but since 12 weeks it has settled into a new pattern of being better by day, and bad from about 6pm onwards, but after weeks of not being able to get anything done or go out of the house without my sick bucket glued to my side, I'll take what I can get! Otherwise, there's not too much to report. After our private nuchal scan, I saw the midwife at 12 weeks for her to take a whole series of bloods, but nothing exciting happened at the appointment other than I found out that my blood pressure is a little low (100 over 70 - what are other people's, out of interest?). I don't see the midwife again until 16 weeks and I don't get another scan until 20 weeks.
DH and I have started thinking about trying to plan holidays/breaks between now and September - we're hoping to get away abroad somewhere at the end of April (with our golf clubs for some golfing, while I'm not too big to get round a course comfortably in the sunshine!), and then going somewhere in this country in July for a week when we can just chill out and rest up before the baby arrives.
I had a little shopping trip this week as I figured that I ought to get around to buying a maternity bra, not because I thought I'd grown in that department but because I've read everywhere that you shouldn't wear underwired bras when you're pregnant (can cause a blockage in the milk ducts, apparently) and I don't possess any bras of the non-wired variety. So I decided to get a bra fitting, and confidently told the lady that I'm a little bigger but don't think I'm that much bigger than I was before (which was a 36B - I think US sizes are the same as in the UK?). Uh, not quite, apparently I'm now a 36D. D???? I never thought I would hear that letter applied to my boob size! I'm still in shock... For other clothes, I'm now too big to do up my jeans and trousers properly, but not really big enough to wear maternity clothes yet, so for the time being I'm leaving zips undone and holding the buttons on jeans together with an elasic hairband, and covering things up with a long top - what a fashion statement!!
Take care everyone, hope to hear from you all soon,
Hazel

Hazel, Good that your M/S is gone! i am doing great! I guess i could be the only one in this board has NO M/S at all! I just feel tired toward the end of the day, other than that, i feel normal.
Today was my 1st appointment with my new OB. I LOVE her. She has such a wonderful bedside manner and explained everything to me very clear. I feel very luck in the whole IVF + preganancy experience, my RE and OB are just awesome! Next Monday i will do my 1st genetics integrated screening. Hopefully, i dont need to do the scary amnio test....i heard so many bad stories about that....
Hi Ladies! It has been forever since we've chatted, and I'm sorry for that! I don't know if I've mentioned this, but I work full time and also own a small business with a friend, who is out on maternity leave. So I'm running both my regular job, the whole company, and the job of growing baby! We're having our 17 week appointment (got off a week because of our 13 week nuchal scan), and I just found out our Dr. won't let us find out the sex until after 20 weeks. I'm bummed bc I thought I would be able to find out this week!
Everything seems to be going well, I'm just ready to start feeling that little baby kick so that I get my constant reminders that everything is going well. I'll try to do better about staying in touch.
I'm off to New York this weekend for a little babymoon - hope everyone is doing well!

BRMommy2B - good to hear from you! I totally understand that you've had your hands full juggling your job, the company and the bump! Hopefully you'll have time soon to check in with us more often, I'm hoping this thread isn't going to fizzle out! Good luck for your 17 week scan, what day is it this week? My next scan is 19wks3days (they call it the 'anomoly' scan in the UK) to check in detail that everything looks as it should - it seems like an AGE away still, particularly as my last scan was the nuchal scan at 11wks3days! Anyway, let us know how it goes and have a great time in New York this weekend!
myc - ooooh, how jealous am I of the no m/s!! Incredible that you have totally escaped and you're having twins too! Good luck for your screening on Monday - by genetics integrated screening, do you mean a nuchal scan to check for Downs? I'm sure you'll be fine.
Gamergirl/CK & Rachel - if you're still checking in and reading, hope everything is going OK for you both.
AFM, I'm still in the pattern of feeling more human by day and sick by night. In the evenings, the m/s is quite often being replaced by heartburn these days. DH and I went away for the weekend and had a lovely time playing golf and relaxing in the evenings (although we got soaking wet one day by playing golf in what felt like a monsoon!) but this week hasn't been so great. I've been panicking that something has gone wrong with the baby as I've had lots of pain in my stomach, not just on the sides (which I know is from the ligaments stretching) but in the middle and 'underneath' as well, which has been stressing me out. Sometimes the pain has been so bad that I've been doubled over, so I was really getting worried. Has anyone else had anything like it? Of course I've had headaches this week as well, but I think they had nothing to do with the pregnancy per se and everything to do with my stress levels! I had my routine 16 week appointment with the midwife today and persuaded her to listen for the heartbeat with her handheld thing (Doppler, I think it's called?). Thankfully she found it fairly quickly (beating at 150, which she seemed to suggest was fairly normal for 16 weeks), and she thinks that the pains are 'probably' just everything stretching, but said to go back if I'm still worried. So I guess I just have to trust that everything is OK, even though it seems like it can't possibly be when I'm in such bad pain on and off. Ugh, is there ever a period of this journey where we won't be worried about something or other?

Ladies,
I got my nuchal scan(my clinic's called it integrated screening) result last night, everything is normal! YAH! It is such a relief that I dont have to do amnio test.
Do any of your ladies have trouble to fall asleep? I just dont sleep very well nowaday.. my belly is getting big i cannot sleep on my back. I guess i need to find a body pillow soon.
Hazel, yah, i think i am a lucky one, i have had zero morning sickness so far. But in return, i have my non-stop bleeding that is killing me. But now i am so get used to it, as long as i dont have cramps, i am not going to worry about it. My OB told me that it is very common to have headaches, stomach/abdominal pain/cramps in 2nd trimester. It is good that your baby is doing well!
BRMommy, oh.....you have to wait until 20 week in order to find out baby sex? that sucks. I was hoping my next appt which is my 15 week, i will know if they are boys or girls.....so i guess we just have to wait.....
I've had headaches, stomach aches, cramping, all of this loveliness in the last week or so . I hadn't had any cramping for a while, but it's back today and I assume it's just growing pains. But I'll ask at my appointment which is TOMORROW (this once a month thing is NOT what I'm used to)!!! Of course, I'm not complaining about having to be at a regular OB now!
Also, my SIL works at a medical imaging center, and her co-worker said she'd do an ultrasound for me tomorrow to find the sex, so I'm going to chat with hubby this afternoon to see if he's OK with that. My main concern is that this is NOT an OB clinic at all, and she generally does ultrasounds for other things, not trying to determine the sex of a baby. It would NOT be fun if she was wrong and we had started buying things! Our next appt where we'll have the official sex determination is in 4 weeks, so I guess I can find out but not purchase anything until that appointment!
Hope everyone is doing well!

All is OK with me - I think the 16 week mark was a bit of a turning point. I haven't had any m/s for a week, only mild and occasionally medium heartburn and indigestion (acupuncture has been truly amazing for reducing that particular pregnancy symptom), last week's awful abdominal pain has subsided into the usual aches and twinges, and generally I'm feeling a bit more energetic. I had a relatively busy week last week and then we had a houseful of friends + children to stay over the weekend - I managed to cope with running around after people getting drinks and cooking food etc, and didn't have to take to my bed vomiting, so I really feel that I've turned a corner. I've even had a half glass of wine in the evenings the last couple of weekends, and have really enjoyed it - dangerous, because now that the m/s has passed and I've got my taste for wine back, I'm going to have to exercise self-control for the remainder of my pregnancy! Anyway, it all makes me very excited about going on holiday in just under 3 weeks, I actually feel as if I may be able to properly enjoy it!!
Final bit of news from my end, I couldn't sleep on Monday night and about 4.30am Tuesday morning, I could have sworn that I felt the baby moving around - it was about an inch below my belly button, and was a strong on/off fluttering sensation that lasted for about 5 minutes. Needless to say, I was beyond excited (it took all my self-control not to wake DH up to tell him what was happening!) but unfortunately even though I was hoping to feel it again yesterday or last night, I only felt a couple of individual flutters last night in bed and it hasn't come back (yet) as strongly as before. So I'll just have to see what happens over the next few days. BRMommy2B and Gamergirl/CK - have either of you felt anything yet?

So lots of news here. We found out last week that we're having a GIRL!!!! And yes, Hazel, I feel her moving around all the time for the last week or so. I thought I was noticing it, but once I was in NYC there was no denying it! I love it bc with everything all of us has been through, it's nice to have that constant reminder they are doing OK! On a bad note, i'm sick which is no fun at all, but hopefully will be better in time for Easter. Had dreams last night that baby was here and I left for work forgetting to feed her, but when I came home she was as happy as can be waiting for her meal. Lets hope that stays a dream!

Hey BRMommy2B, thanks for replying. Ooooh, so you're having a little girl? I thought it wasn't possible to tell until 20 weeks, so is that 100% certain? How come you were able to find out so soon? I'm jealous! I'm so excited that you can feel the baby moving around! How did it feel when you first noticed it, was it like a little fluttery sensation in the middle of your stomach, or something else? And once you first felt it, how often did it come back? Is it fairly constant now during the day and night?
myc - I'm so sorry, I forgot to comment on your low risk Nuchal scan results, that's great news! I found it to be such a relief when my results came back OK, I'm not even sure I realised how tense about it I was until we actually got the results. Are you sleeping any better now? I'm still able to sleep on my stomach on and off at the moment, which is pretty odd because my stomach is pretty big, but I guess most of the bump is fat and not baby at the moment, so once the baby moves further up and gets bigger I'm sure it will stop being comfortable.
Gamergirl/CK and Rachel, hope all is OK with you two. Would be lovely to hear your news.

The 20 week rule is generally because that's when they do the 20 week scan. Most drs don't want to do it before then because there is no medical reason to do an ultrasound before then (finding out the gender isn't considered a medical reason). I've had lots of friends find out at 16 -18 weeks, and one found out at 13 weeks that she was having a boy! They weren't even trying to tell at that point, but it was fairly obvious. I have an official scan next Tuesday where they will confirm that it's a girl.
Right when I started feeling her, I'd tell my husband, "I just felt the baby! Or maybe it was indigestion!" But when it started getting more consistent and stronger, I really knew. It's not constant, as she goes through awake and asleep times, and active and still times, but I can generally feel her at least every other hour or so. And if I've happened to have some sugar, she gets really active. Like I said in my earlier post, I'm sick, and the Dr. told me I could take Sudafed. Well, it knocked me out, and apparently it knocked her out too bc I didn't feel anything for a couple of hours, which made me feel like a terrible mom , so now I'm just suffering through it and hoping it will clear up soon. Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hey ladies I thought I would stop in to see how everyone was and to let you in on my latest news. I had my 18wk scan today and everything looks great. My big news is that I am having a BOY !! I was really thining it would be a girl this time. I already have one boy so I figure it should all come back to me. Let me know if you guys have found out what you are having yet.
