Ashley- I understand your worry. I really do. I found that flat water bothers my stomach. So I am now drinking Poland Springs Mandarin Orange waters. It's slightly carbonated and I find it refreshing. It's hard to stay hydrated when your stomach is queasy! I've been very fortunate so far with no M/S at all. I go to an accupuncturist once a week and she is treating me to prevent it by building spleen qi (no idea what it is, but it's working). Today I feel the most tired I have felt since knowing I was pregnant. So I'll take it easy today for sure. It's crazy how many twins are in this My DH said last night that we will go from a party of 2 to a party of 4! I thought that was cute. Have a great day!

Afternoon ladies, hope you are all well.

Katie - as always on your u/s day, I'm hitting the refresh button every two minutes in the hope that you will just have posted with your news. Can't wait to hear about how the 'blob' looked, and whether you saw a hb. Hahaha, the heightened sense of smell! I developed all sorts of smell aversions, thankfully they are tailing off now - one which hasn't though is my ability to smell a glass of red wine at 20 paces and feel ill. Poor DH, he does like a glass of wine in the evenings and at weekends (or should I say, he used to, before I started complaining about it!)...

CT_Michele - miss you on these threads. Like Katie, I'm keeping you in my prayers that you're able to try again soon.

Karen - yay, the twins are looking good!

Riley - I'm so happy that the u/s on Friday went well and you haven't had any more bleeding. I know what you mean about it being crazy how quickly the baby grows in the first trimester - I still can't get my head around the fact that it goes from being the tiniest dot to about 2.5inches/6cm long in less than 12 weeks (or strictly speaking, 10 weeks of actual 'growing', since our pregnancy is measured from 2 weeks before ER). As you say, no wonder we feel tired/ill/hungry!

Ashley - uh oh, sounds like the m/s has arrived for you, which I guess is not surprising if you're carrying two little bundles of joy! You sound as if you have a handle on what works for you best, but for what it's worth the things which I tried to do are/were (a) start the stay by eating something in bed half an hour before you even think about getting up - some biscuits, or ask DH to make you a slice of toast, (b) try and have something to eat every 90 mins to 2 hours, difficult as it may be to face food - I would start feeling more sick if I let my stomach get empty and my blood sugar get low, so I tried to make sure I had a yoghurt, biscuit, slice of toast etc regularly (c) get as much rest and sleep as you can, including an afternoon nap if possible - again, getting tired makes it worse, (d) after a while you will work out what foods make you feel better/worse - it truly doesn't matter whether what you eat for this short period of time has a high or low nutritional value, you're babies will have the benefit of the fact that you had a balanced diet beforehand - my understanding is that when you look at diet, it's the bigger picture which is important, not a snapshot of what you eat for a period of a few weeks. You will find that your taste buds will probably change week by week, just eat and drink what your body tells you it wants or can handle. Above all, don't worry that anything you're doing/not doing is going to hurt the babies. They will take what they need from what you eat and drink, and will leave you with what is left over - believe me, they are fine, even if you feel dreadful! p.s. I also had a lot of pain/cramps on and off in weeks 8 to 12 - none of it was accompanied by bleeding though, so I think it was just things stretching and moving.

AFM, my m/s pattern has definitely changed - I feel much better during the daytime now but regardless of what I eat, how well rested I am during the day or anything else, I'm feeling sick during the evening, starting at about 6pm and getting bad by about 8pm. Hopefully, that too will pass in a while, but at the moment I'm just so grateful that I have a portion of the day when I feel more human. I even went and met a friend yesterday at the shops for a quick wander and lunch (not much buying for me now that I'm getting bigger, just a couple of tops which have room for the bump to grow into!). I can't tell you how excited I was to be able to do that, after feeling under house arrest for the last 7 weeks! How silly do I sound??

Thanks for the well wishes for the dog - I'm pleased to report she's doing well and the bandages came off on Sunday. She's a fairly good girl about not licking the wound, and it seems to be healing slowly but surely. There's a tiny area where I think the pad hasn't quite knitted back to the leg, but there's still time for that to mesh so I'm just keeping an eye on it. The hardest thing is trying to stop her racing round the garden and the house with our other dog, and watching her get upset when DH takes him out for a walk and leaves her behind! Katie, in answer to your question, I still haven't walked both dogs much yet - initially because of the m/s and now because I can't leave Joya on her own in the house while I take Flynn (she'd get distraught at being on her own without him or me, jump up at doors and probably reopen the wound). I wil soon though, once Joya is cleared to go on walks again. When I do have to handle them both, for example to take them to the vets, I put a halti on Flynn to keep him walking more calmly, then I just have to hold Joya (who pulls in excitement whether or not she's wearing a halti).

Right ladies, the sun is out (it's one of those gorgeous, crisp, spring days) so I'm going to sit outside and read a book for half an hour to stop myself hammering at the refresh button like a lunatic trying to see Katie's news. Check in with you all later...

Hazel and Karen - thank you for the advice. The funny thing is that I had NO symptoms with my DS. I wouldn't have even known I was pregnant in the beginning if I hadn't had a u/s at 8 weeks. So this is quite a change. And my poor DH doesn't even know what to do. I basically get home from work, eat dinner, and then lay in bed the rest of the night. He has been so sweet and pretty much taken care of everything on top of him working full time too. He will bring food around me and I immediately make him leave if it makes me queasy. At first he got a little offended but he seems to be starting to understand.

I totally agree with the eating every hour or so and I try to do that as much as possible - it just stinks to have food that I normally love make my stomach turn. I really hope I'm not one of those unlucky people that have this through my entire pregnancy - I would be miserable!

And Hazel - I too am eagerly waiting to hear about Katie's u/s. Katie - you have us all on pins and needles.

Ashley - the fact that you didn't get m/s with DS is adding to my theory that it's what our bodies go through with the IVF drugs which make us more susceptible to the horrors of bad m/s. Plus, don't forget that you've got double the hormones knocking around this time, which will have something to do with it as well! I'm sure it will start to ease at 12/13 weeks, it certainly has for me. And yes, thank goodness for supportive and understanding DH's!! Like yours, my DH has added cook, laundryperson, dog walker and various other things to his job title for when he gets home from work and at weekends. It'll all be worth it in the end for both us and our DH's...

Ooooooh, hurry up and get back home to post, Katie, the anticipation is driving me up the wall!!!

Katie- Gorgeous Miss Ella is doing great. Thanks for asking. She just hit 18 months old, I can't believe how time flies. She is an active and busy girl. We go for her 18month check up tomorrow, where we will likely be referred to a speech pathologist. She is talkative, but no real words yet...I am sure it is normal and will come with time. I have been crazy busy, we just got Ella a puppy. He is a full bred german shepherd named Brady. He has been with us for 3 days and is getting comfy, starting to chew, and keeping me insanely busy. I don't know what we were thinking. My husband wanted him bad. He starts obedience school next week. (The dog and the husband...lol) I haven't seen you on fb much...I put pics there.

Hazel- I miss the threads too, but I had to step back for a bit. It is just so overwhelming to wonder if and when I will get another try. And life with a toddler and puppy is so crazy I am not sure I could even handle it right now. I have a big teacher's test coming up in a couple weeks, and if all goes well, maybe I will look for a job in the fall and get new insurance.

Hi, Ladies!

I'm finally posting after swearing off the boards for awhile. I had two failed FETs last spring/summer and I felt I was jinxing the boards! After a 6 month break (and doing Clomid and timed intercourse for fun, HA HA HA!), we attempted our FINAL FET on January 21st. We implanted 3 embryos. Our final three. Much to my amazement, IT WORKED. I still can hardly believe it. I had come up with a lot of consolation prizes for having only one kid....private school, a dog, etc. etc. I was more ready for it NOT to work, and here I am 8 weeks pregnant!!! I had my confirmation u/s last Friday, on my DS's 3rd birthday. We saw ONE baby with a strong heartbeat that was measuring on track. It made it a bit more real! I'm feeling really good aside from tiredness and hunger. I had such a rotten pregnancy with my son, so this is sheer bliss!!!

I recognize a lot of you from past cycles. Congrats!

Hi everyone -

We saw the heart beat!! YAY! OK, now its starting to feel like its real! I was sooo nervous and the RE was running an hr late, so I was sitting waiting for an hr getting more and more convinced it would be empty, then when it was my turn, I could hardly talk. But my RE said "theres a nice strong heart beat!" And of course I got yelled at again for wiggling to see myself (seems I can never sit still long enough for him to turn the screen for me!) I could see it flickering on the screen - oh, how great will it be when you can actually hear it? He said that everything looks "as good as you can get" and the sac measured at 18x9 and the baby measured at 5.7mm. last week when he measured it was at 12, so thats a ot of growth in a week! My DH is over the top! Oh, I did manage to completely choke up when my RE who i've seen since Oct of 08 said this is the last appt with him. I wanted him to know how much gratitude we have and I told him (in tears again) that surely any other RE would have given up on me a long time ago, and that surely his generosity has earned him a spot in Heaven - and then HE teared up too! And made me promise to keep in touch and send sono and baby pics. God, I love that man! He didnt release me, not until 10weeks, but I'll just need to go for weekly b/w until he releases me. Jeez- I was never a cryer, but boy, I tear up all the time now

Try to drink as much water as you can, you have double the hormones right now, I'm hoping that you stomach seetles down, so you wont worry as much

Katie - YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! So happy that you saw a heartbeat and that everything looks OK - well of course it was always going to, but I know the anxiety you feel until you see that little flicker. So now you can breathe a sigh of relief and go and buy some pregnancy books! Didn't DH make you promise that you could tell people once you saw a heartbeat? Have you started spreading the good news yet? I'm so happy for you... Right, I'm off to bed now that I've seen your post - it's just gone 11pm, a late night for me these days!!

Hi everyone -

How are you all doing today? I had an interesting day yesterday, i thought it would be ok to go and pick up some pg & babies books. So I did that and then ended up poking around the baby section a little bit, wow am I clueless! Then I went and had lunch with a close friend, which was nice for a while until she read me the riot act for not switching to all organic dairy, meats and produce! I was getting really irritated, I mean a natural pg (without ivf) probably wouldnt even be sure that they were pg yet! and here is my friend making like I'm so irresponsible - Oooh, I was mad! Its not that I have an issue with organic anything, but organic foods seem to be triple the price! She did get me thinking though about all of the hormones & antibiotics in the dairy and meats. How about you all?
Have you all gone organic? Oh, and then when I got home I had the first spotting episode, 3 times I wiped and saw a dime sized pink spot, and had some sharp pains on the left side - I was completely freaked out! We read all the time how it happens,its common with ivf, and dont stress, but I've not had ANY spotting at all - so that combined with sharp pains was kind of scary! Of course this happens AFTER buying pg books - so I was afraid that I somehow jinxed myself - I guess after taking so many tries to get here its normal to feel that way - but Jeez! the timing! So now, the books are still in the bag from the store and stuck in the closet
for now, maybe in a few days I'll feel more like reading them - but for today, I'm on spot watch - UGH!

Hazel I'm sorry that I kept you up late, reapeatedly hitting the refresh button! Me too! i used to go to bed at midnight, but these days if I could go at 8pm, I would. I'm wiped out by late afternoon! How are you feeling? Still m/s driving you mad? Yes, my DH told all the guys he works with, he is so happy.

Sarah UGH - I hear you on the PIO! its like I'm injecting the lumps now since theres so many - I feel like they are connecting and I cant find space between them anymore - FUN, yes?

Hi ladies - sorry for being MIA this week. I've been pretty busy at work and feeling very anxious about my u/s tomorrow. I have no reason to be worried other than the fact that this is the same time period that I had all of my miscarriages so I think I'm just ultra paranoid. I've been feeling pretty good - still very hungry all the time and nauseous on and off. My newest way to get myself worked up is that I am not seeing any change in my belly. Now I didn't really show until 20 weeks with my DS but have convinced myself that I should be by now given that it is my second pregnancy AND it's twins. I know......I'm crazy - I'll just be glad to have the scan tomorrow and feel better that everything is OK.

Katie - I haven't had a chance to tell you congratulations on seeing the heartbeat. Isn't it an amazing moment? And I am sorry you are having the stress of worrying about spotting. I know that I can tell you all day long not to worry but every time I feel any moisture, I run to the bathroom expecting to see something. When is your next u/s? Is there anyway your RE could do one between now and 10 weeks just to make you feel better? And regarding the organic stuff, I can totally understand why people think it's the way to go and I buy organic here and there but not everything. You are right, it can be pretty expensive. And I can say from experience that I have a very healthy 3 year old who, while in my womb snacked on a lot of fast food and ice cream. My DH even theorizes that he was a big baby at birth because of all the donuts I ate. I did eat other healthy things to balance it but I certainly didn't worry about things being organic. So my personal opinion is to maybe try and buy some organic meats and veggies but don't obsess about it if you can help it.
