I guess I am on here because I don't really know who else to talk to. I come from a very large family and so does my husband and nobody in either of our families has ever had to do IVF. We just found out a couple weeks ago that we won't be able to have children unless we have ICSI. We are bewildered. I am 28 and my husband is 30. Our problem is male factor. We are going for an appointment this week to learn more about the procedure and what we are in for. I was hoping that someone could give me some hope and share their experience so I know what our journey may be like...
Welcome to these boards, you have certainly found the right place to get information. They have really helped me.
DH and I also needed ICSI and the problem was with both of us. Well it took 2 attempts but here we are 15 weeks pregnant.
It is an emotional rollercoaster in all honsety and sometimes very overwhelming. The important thing is to be there for each other and be undertsanding when it gets a bit much for you or DH. I think it it is often underestimated the effect on the men as we are expected to feel emotional, side effects, etc.
Use these boards as a source and make friends, we are all here for each other.
Good luck!

Freddie was born at 14.09 on 29/03/10 at 8lb 14oz.
We are also Male Factor and had IVF with ICSI as our only option. It is one crazy journey with soo many emotions involved but soooo worth it. Not only have my husband and I become closer than ever through this process but after one failed cycle we are now 7 weeks pregnant with twins!
I am 29 and healthy and it really helped during my ivf cycle as I responded well to the meds and they were able to retrieve lots of mature eggs which in turn made lots of embryos! We still have 6 more frozen for future Frozen cycles (which are waaay cheaper).
Good Luck to you!!!

Hi we found out hubby had blocked tubes last Nov and it was like the end of the world.
Now we have sperm ready to go after sperm retrieval and planning IVF in March.
Step by step........be strong.....
We had ICSI done, too, and I have a handsome 5 1/2 old son who is our true blessing! I remember when I was scared about the whole thing but things worked themselves out. Everyone is right. It is an emotional roller coaster. I used this forum a lot during our journey. All the women will be able to understand the confusing emotions you will feel and there are many out there who can answer questions you may have. This forum helped me and my husband get through this. Good luck with everything! Stay positive!
