We went to the hospital yesterday for a 24 week check. Everything was perfect with the babies, which I know is the most important thing. But I got quite annoyed , as every time we have been we've seen a different person, and yesterday she was going on about 'have you booked for a glucose test yet' and we didn't have a clue what she was on about. Then she implied it was our fault we didn't know what she was on about! I've never heard of this before, but the midwife eventually explained it to us. Also, they fill you note book with symbols and figures and if you ask what such and such means they act as if thats for them to know. I know it is a busy hospital and with over 3000 births a year and they see hundreds of people a day, but to us this is a first and we want to know whats going on. It scares me that seeing a diffrernt person every time does not bode well for the birth, when the opinion of the person on the day will what counts and your birth plan may as well go out the window. I just don't like the feeling of having no control over a situation.
Rant over, but I can see why people employ independent midwifes, because a t least you have continuity of care (not having a go at the NHS, honest!)
