I read your worried post on GEm's thread - re overstimulation - you would know by now and the clinic would have rung - they don';t mean progesterone but oestrogen from stimming the ovaries. Just keep drinking plenty and should go in a week or two maximum. It could be the pessaries as they drive me insane - I stopped mine slightly early as they were doing my brain in - slap my wrists!!! The progesterone basically tells the body you are pg and if you are pg too which you are it gets extra amounts. these pains are all normal anyway and the body is suddenly pg and though the little emby or embies are miniscule they do enormous things to the body! The body starts pulling and stretching straight away = this most likely will improve shortly. Just drink plenty and rest when you want but don;t worry it is all normal I am afraid and congratulations again.

Hi Tracey,
Thanks so much for picking this up! I'm glad it all sounds 'normal' (whatever that is...!)
I just rang the clinic and they said my levels are fine (ie no real problem of overstimulation), but they suggested to have another blood test and scan on Friday (more to set my mind at rest than because they are concerned, but I don't care).
So, I'll just plod along until then - it just all seems too good to be true...!

Oh, another thing: when do you find out whether it's twins? How early can they see it? Also "how" pregnant am I at this point? 2 weeks?

Thank you so much for your help, Tracey - I know it all sounds really ungrateful all this worrying, considering I should just be thrilled to have had such good news, but somehow it won't really be real until I can see a real foetus on the screen (or even better - feel it!).
Thanks a lot again - hope all is going well for you - and everyone else!
Cheers,
bina

Don't worry about seeming selfish or ungrateful - you are not - now you having something to lose if that makes sense. You are just over 4 weeks pregnant. When you have a scan at around 6-7 weeks (depends on your clinic) they will tell you if it is twins by how many sacs. I had a high HCG reading of over 1000 on day 15 post ET so they had a fair idea - most people's would have been 300. They will only confirm twins if they get the two sacs and fetal poles and yolks at that stage - 0h and a heart flutter.
Good luck and just try and rest and not worry - easier said than done as I am 25 weeks Friday and still do!
Take care and any more questions just fire away

HI Bina and Tracey
Question for you - how did you feel in 2ww? Any tell tale signs that those of us still hanging in there should be hoping for?!
Thanks and congrats!

Caz

Wish there was something to tell you that would help but I feel different each time and depending on when I stimmed or had natural FET which I did the last 3 times and then not many sypmtoms. HAd lower back pains and sore boobs for most of my 2ww's but then the last had no boob pains at all (I have been pg 3 times - one ectopic and one lost at 20 weeks) so all different. Felt very afish on the last two times when worked and niggley stretchy type crampy feelings. Sorry this does not help as we are all different. One piece of advice - try and carry on as normal - if you are used to being up and about carry on doing so and ifyou are used to lying around doing not much then do that - the body does not like to change it's routine much I reckon and GOOD LUCK

Hi bina
CONGRATULATIONS on your positive result :D

i hope your scan goes ok tomorrow
i got ohss on my first treatment and had to stay in hospital for a week and also had signs on the second go which they kept a close eye on and had 3 scans and blood tests in the 2ww but they do take any symptoms of it very seriously and will keep a close eye on you if they think there is any risk.

I found on my first treatment there i did not ask many questions as did not no what to ask and thought the doctors did not really tell you much but on my second go i asked lots more questions and they were really nice and helpful.

i felt alot better when i came of the pessaries but i still get some uncomfy feeling and crampy but like tracey said its your body adjusting and normal and i also read back in the history on here and loads of other people had asked the same things

take care

susan :)
ps im just down the road from you

Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for your supportive words and thoughts!
Well, went for the scan today, which apparently showed some fluid in the uterus, which might be a sign of OHSS. They also took blood to check for it. I'll hear this afternoon.
I still feel the same: bloated, swollen (big tummy, when I'm normally quite proud of it being flat!), achey stomach - the ting is I can't actually stand up straight or lie down flat - walking like a little old lady...!
Having explained all the symptoms to the docs, they don't seem to be too worried, because it doesn't sound like severe OHSS, only mild, if that. So they're putting it down to a)my body adjusting to pregnancy and b) some mild symptoms of OHSS. This does make sense to me, but I can't stop worrying.
If I don't feel better they want to come back next week.
Anyway, can't wait for the 2-week scan...hopefully that'll tell us a bit more...
Re: any tell-tale signs: like Tracey said, we seem to be all so different. Straight after ET I felt 100% normal and kept thinking if I didn't know what had been done, I'd just pick up a tennis raquet and start playing; felt totally normal. Then the constipation set in a few days later, then after a week I got the bloatedness and rest (see above). Sorry, this probably does not help anyone.....

So here's my next worry: how common are ectopic pregnancies? I know us IVFer are more likely to have one, but how commonly does it happen? More importantly, is there any way of preventing it.
So sorry to be going on and worrying about it all - should just enjoy it, but it all seems too good to be true, and I'm sooo afraid of a major disappointment down the line...!

Gem - good luck for Tuesday! I'm sure it'll be fine - the infection will have gone by then and they're just making sure it's all OK!

Happy thoughts and GOOD LUCK to everyone!
bina

Hopefully all ok then - I know OHSS is not pleasant but keep drinking plenty - I know people who have had severe OHSS and baby is fine!
AS for ectopic - they are still rare just more common in IVF - I had one on my first and much more common if you have blocked tubes. Don't worry about this too - Leave it at the back of your mind - you would start knowing soon as the pain is just horrendous like someone ripping your inside out with a needle. Stay calm and look after yourself - loads of rest

So happy to read that the clinic dont think its serious some of your syptoms sound like mine when I had my infection they know it was an infection and not ohss as I was getting pain just on one side and my hormone levels werent high,I know a few people have had ohss and had healthy babies,I think we will relax more once tuesday is over and we know my levels are what they should be,I'm tempted to keep doing htp tests but I'm resisting incase I dont like the answers, but we have to keep thinking positive Bina because we will be on the other side and early next year we will be mums  When is your 1st scan?
I think my clinic like to test your blood levels again a week after testing I hope so any way and its not because they arent happy with the levels but they said the levels were good so I'l stop worring I promise,But I know from reading the other side the worrying doesnt stop.
I'm back at work on weds I work with special needs children some with behavioural so I will be very careful and not do any lifting an dkeep away if a child starts to get agressive the people I work in class with know about the treatment and I know they wont let anything happen to me,I just think time will go quicker once I'm back at work as I had all the the half term off and the 1st week off with the 2ww and I 've had this week off with my infection so all in all including the half term I've had a massive 4 weeks off I've never been off sick in my life I just have time off with treatment amd this is more important than work so sod it I cant cope with being nack at work I'l have some more time off as this baby is more important.
Sorry for rambling and taking over your tread,I do get carried away

Hi Gem and Travey,
Thanks for your concern!
Clinic phoned back to say levels are OK, but want to keep an eye on me, so need to go back Monday (Bank Hol) for another scan and blood test.
It's just sooo odd that just my stomach hurts (quite high up, so when I stand up straight it feels like over-stretching and therefore tearing someting). But anyway, have to keep thinking +ve and relax; so DH and I are just going to take it easy, talking about parenthood etc to wish everything will go OK....

Hope all's well for you two!
Love,
