Finally bought something

Post by Helen Reid »

Hi all

Well i finally bought something for my baby his pram, well ordered at least. My dh was off on Monday due to a hard days golfing on the Sunday and he said we could go and order our pram well i cried. The pram will be here at the end of may. Tomorrow i go to get the paint for the nursery and we will start it after our holidays. I am 25wks this week and i think it is about time we got organised as you never know.
I have been telling anyone who will listen except the mother in law as she is still no better and keeps going on about the money etc. Just the one thing i will say on that subject is her other son's friend is going to be a dad and she that at least she is blessed with that not happening to her sons girlfriend as she finds it hard to imagine me with a baby, cleaning its dirty (i am being polite) nappies etc never mind how she would get on.I asked her what she meant by that but she never answered me. I was so mad but from now on i am just going to tell her to shut the **** up. I think she is waiting for me to fail as a mother because she seems to think she will have the baby all the time.

Shutting up now

Ignore her! You have more important things to worry about, like what colour to paint the nursery. I have had a spending spree too. Almost everything ordered online and came this week, so now just need to buy a new car (or mini bus) to accommodate 2 babies and all their stuff! I feel very organised now and can hopefully start to relax a bit (as if!)

Helen.......just ignore the silly old cow!

I had months of my vicious sister in law telling me all the nasty things my mother in law was saying about me, i'e she can't cope, she's very lucky, Stephen does more than his fair share (does he hell!). But the best was when I had her on the phone crying saying that I was lucky that dh had had 10 weeks off with me when Dan was born.........she then wailed 'no one ever did that for me'!!!!! Now I should probably explain that my hubby almost cut his thumb off at work, about two weeks before I gave birth, so he didn't actually do it for me.........stupid cow!

......God I sound bitter!

Anyway chick, you want to rant about your MIL, then feel free, cos you'll have a good listener in me.

Happy shopping.

p.s think we should have a MIL thread, and we can all let off steam!

You rant on - thank goodness my MIL is lovely and far enough away not to interfere! She sounds a right nasty bint!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sue you made me laugh - I could see you jumping up and down writing it!
Now shopping - I have finished nearly - it arrives daily and the postman has developed a hernia!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAve all the pram bits and car seats and nursery is finished apart from the pine wardrobe arriving and my friend Anna building some shelf and a removable napper changer for the pine drawers! Can then put up some pictures and the black out linings for the curtains should arrive this week. HAve all the breast pumps and bottles - loads of clothers and bedding - one bouncy chair and one arriving. etc etc it goes on. Loads of it I have got from Ebay and it's been a godsend! Not sure DH would agree when He sees the credit card bill this month
HAve fun and enjoy it and ignore the silly cow - she will no doubt find fault with the way you decorate it next

Hi Helen,
Its really exciting starting to buy things for the baby an decorate the nursery. One of my friends is 3 weeks ahead of me and had everyting bought by about 10 weeks - I was still wondering wether I dare by a pregnancy mag at the time!!
Your MIL sounds as lovely a mine - We made the mistake of trying to include her bit and took her to see the travel system we wanted and she spent the whole time picking fault - I think even the shop assistant was ready to batter her!
Just remember your babies are more important and you've nothing to prove to anyone!
Love,

Hi

Thanks for all your lovely replies. I have been so tired the last few days i have not been back on the site it takes all my energy to get off the couch. Yesterday i ordered my cot bed and it was all because i had to trail up to glasgow for my dh to renew his season ticket for the footy. My mum and sister bought it for me. We just went to have a look at babies r' us seeing as i was there anyway and i fell in love with it so i just got it. They had some really nice stuff and i could of had spent a fortune but will have to wait until after the holidays. I have the paint for the nursery, got it mixed to go with the border which is 'my first home' out of mothercare. My mum found out by accident that i am having a boy she seen the paint and she knew straight away but hopefully she won't let it slip.
My hairdresser told me that one of her clients was told she was having a boy at her scan and she had a girl (eleven pounds and no pain relief). It makes you think.

Glad you are off the couch and shopping - what colour was the paint that was such a give away. WE have the Humphrey border form Mcare - last years in yellow not this years in cream and have painted the nursery a nice sunny yellow so not a give away at all I don't think. I like the full of fun stuff in Babies R Us - it is cool
How is the MIL or dare we ask?

Hi Tracey

The colour is a light blue and green and considering we said it was going to be yellow she put two and two together but she hasn't mentioned it again incase she slips up. My sister is hamster sitting for us so i have hid the paint away.

The MIL thing well i have not told her about the cot bed or anything else as my dh mentioned we had the border and she never even asked to see it. She also keeps mentioning the no smoking thing again but i could not be bothered with her and said nothing. i phoned her on monday to see if she wanted to go a run with us but she was not in and i was quite glad because if she had been there when my mum bought the cot i know she would of had said something.

Anyway off on holiday today and i am not going to think about things until i get back. We are leaving at 3 so i had better go and wake my dh up.

Catch up when i get back
