Babyluv: Maybe I shouldn't have used the term trigger, but its the same med that I took the night I triggered. I asked Ghost why I was taking it if it's used for ovulation and this is the response that I got.

Brevactid is hCG.

Short answer: It's for luteal support, to help sustain a pregnancy.

Long answer: hCG from an implanted embryo is the embryo's signal telling the spent follicle (corpus luteum) to keep making progesterone. If progesterone production stops, then menses will follow. Similarly, some doctors prescribe hCG to promote progesterone production from the follicles (corpora lutea) following a cycle of ovarian stimulation. Most just give the progesterone. An issue with using hCG for luteal support is that it invalidates pregnancy tests (which look for hCG).

Emmax – you have to calm yourself. You are getting all worked and upset but this isn’t going to help you at all. It is too early to know if it is your trigger shot or real pregnancy symptoms. RELAX!!!!!

Winnie- Yes, I noticed the same thing following this ER. I was much sorer than my first one and it took longer to recover. Don’t be bummed because it only takes one. How many days has it been since your ER?

Latrell – I am glad that you are resting. I kept my nails on throughout most of my pregnancies. I just asked did they use anything that wasn’t safe during pregnancy and then I researched them on the net.

Franny – how did the ER go today?

AFM – Ladies, I have my ET tomorrow at 11:30am … whooo hooo! Finally! I spoke to my RE’s nurse and she said that the 8 embryos are progressing nicely. I just got the 3 day report because it was actually Sunday but they weren’t there. So here is the report from yesterday, 4 were perfect (8 cell/ grade 1), 3 were 8 cell grade 3 w/ some fragmentation (not much), and one was still being watched as it was progressing a little slower than the rest. But, so far 8 are looking good for the transfer tomorrow. I am leaving in 30 minutes for my massage to help me relax. I did a massage before my first transfer and I got a BFP, so I am trying to repeat it again!!!

Whinne - sorry you didn't have better news. My friend did IVF last Nov. She got 5 eggs but only 1 fertilized. Tomorrow she gets to find out the gender of her baby. I know it is hard to keep positive. I am trying to do the same thing, but it really only does take one sticky embie.

misocial - so sorry to hear your cycle was canceled. I have had 4 canceled cycles plus a cycle I didn't have anything to transfer so I know that pain of things just not working out. Hoping they can figure out a plan for you. Have you thought about getting a 2nd opinion?


AFM - Sorry I haven't been keeping up. Congrats to all the BFPs. This cycle looked to be the best. I had 13 follicles on the day of my trigger. I figured we would have 8 or so mature eggs. I never have had that many. Well turns out I ovulated early. Dr. said that she went in for ER and my ovaries looked like they hadn't even been stimulated. They were lucky that we got 4. Dr. said that usually when this happens they don't get any eggs and if they do they don't fertilize. Well, all 4 of mine were mature and 3 fertilized. So currently I have 3 growing and my transfer will be tomorrow. I was a dumb ass and asked the embryologist how my embies were doing. They are 2, 3 , and 4 cells on day 2. I was just hoping for once to here "Oh your embies are doing great, they are all 4 cells today". Of course that never happens for me. Will keep you posted tomorrow.

thank you all for all the well wishes. it means so much to me. i am very sleepy so i dont have time for personals right now, but i will try later ok?
well ER didnt go so well. we only got one egg again!
i'm sad and scared, and i am trying to be hopeful that it will me mature and fertilize when we call tomorrow.
please please please let it be ok!
before ER the RE (not my dr.) came in and said that i only had 3 follies, and he decided not to cancel me because he feels like this would be our last chance, because they have tried everything they can for me, and nothing is working. great huh? i was so scared, and when i woke up he came in to tell me they got 1 egg i burst into tears. i couldnt help it. then he said atleast we got one, and that the door wasnt completely shut yet, but to start thinking of donor eggs. i lost it! i couldnt help it. i cried like a lil baby. the nurse looked so sad, and i could tell she felt bad for me.
i'm so scared to call for the fert report tomorrow!
i need to go lie down. please everyone pray for my lil egg! love to you all!

Franny - Don't give up hope yet. As you have heard a million times it only takes one. I am a bad follower so don't know your full history but if this cycle doesn't work, then I would try for a second/third opinion. i have learned through lots of trial and error that all Dr.s and clinics are different. Some use the same protocols that all the other clinics use which don't work on everyone. Sounds to me you need to find a clinic that has a different approach and is really good with poor responders. That is just my 2 cents. hoping and praying you don't need my 2 cents and that little egg that was retrieved fertilizes and attaches.

Franny Oh, honey I'm sorry. I'll keep your little fighter egg in my prayers to hear a great fert report tomorrow. That wasnt the appropriate time to bring up DE at all! thats what happened to me during my last retreival, remember? "well we retreived nothing" and then went on to say how a DE cycle was close to 30k! All while I was so woozy from the anesthesia and trying desparately to be coherant. And that wasnt your RE? Why was another RE trying to push the DE issue with you right then? You know how hard I'm pulling for you, try to get some rest and prayers for tomorrow's call. Much love to you my friend - xoxo

Chris I've been wondering where you've been. - I've been pulling for u every try and nothing has changed. I know the forums get to stressful sometimes, but i'm happy to hear that you're alright. I dont have to tell you how fast division can be! You can go tomorrow and hear that all three are now 8 celled easily overnight. How did you ovulate early though? No ganirelix or lupron? Did you ovulate through them? As always I'll have everything crossed for your embies tomorrow - And no, I wont irritate you with wishing you sticky thoughts - but if I think them anyway - would that be ok?

Hi Guys,

I have been praying and reading every one's posts, even though I just joined a couple of weeks ago, I feel so connected with so many of you. Today I went to the RE for my 2nd round of blood work. I was telling the nurse about how I had joined this blog and how someone had written that it took them an hour to draw a vile of blood... In the past, I have had no problem giving blood. But for some reason I must have jinxed myself, because she could not get any blood from me today... She had to call another nurse in and she had no problem. Thank God!

They called me with the results and my levels had risen to 315. She said that was good... I don't have to go back till my ultra sound on the 21st

The kind words and support have been wonderful. For those who have just joined, stay tuned to these ladies... They truly know what they are talking about. I believe that this is better than any "medical" help or the Internet! I will keep everybody posted!

Heeks You are right about the goal of IVF is to get prego not how many eggs freeze. If you count the day of transfer as the first day I am 11dp3dt to answer your question.

Winnie How are you feeling after your ER? Don't fret about just getting one egg. That's all you need to get Prego!

Libby Glad your betas are still going up. Hope your new u/s arent too weird. Maybe they'll just do the kind on top of the tummy.

Kushka I hope things are less stressful for you now. I know that work can be crazy and that doesn't help so try to hang in there.

Angela So glad your ER went well. I'm glad your clinic is so confident and has good success rates. Sounds like you are in good hands. Just try to relax and have faith

latrell22 You will make it thru the 2ww. Just try to distract yourself as much as possible. I watched movies almost everynight and stay very busy at work so I don't have too much time to think about it.

Franny First I wanted to say that I know how you felt about all the SnS. I had seven in a row and my veins were so shot they had to start drawing from my hand. Please know that I am saying prayers for you little egg to blossom and that it will make it back to you safely. AFM - Had the whole family plus friends at my house yesterday. About 35 people in all and it was so much fun. I had to go online to make sure it was safe for me to eat ham and from what I read as long as it was steaming hot I should be fine. I was planning on POAS on Sunday morning but I started spotting on Sat and was still spotting (although much lighter) yesterday so I decided to wait. Well no more spotting today so I'm thinking I will take one tomorrow since my beta is Wed. morning. Is it possible for progestrone to make you spot since it can cause a little bit of cramping?

To-have-fun (Chris) – I was getting so very nervous after I starting reading your post after you said that you already ovulated but I am so happy to hear that they retrieved 4 of the follicles!!!! Don’t worry about the cells; you need to just think positive that you will get your BFP. I am so happy we will be transferring tomorrow together. I guess when I read Tammy’s post, I thought tomorrow meant that she meant her transfer was Tuesday but she had her on Monday. I will be praying for the both of us!!

Tammy – How are you doing after your transfer? Did you do a 3 or 5 day transfer?

Franny – I am sorry! We are praying for the 1 follicle. It still can fertilize and divide. I know all of this is too much to take in but have you and DH thought about the following:
1.) Changing RE’s to start a different protocol? It sounds like your RE is wonderful but you never know if someone else’s protocol might do the trick for you. There are a lot of women who are on this site that changed RE’s to get a new perspective on their treatment and it worked for them.
2.) Possibly using donor eggs. If that is a concern, maybe a family member might donate some embryos. Helene knows a lot more about this subject as she used donor eggs w/ this transfer.

Stephanie – I am glad your blood work went well today. 315 sounds great!

Claudia – I hope you are still doing well!

Hopeforbabies - I am glad that you had fun with the family. I found myself doing the same thing yesterday. I can't drink or eat that ... etc! Your beta is coming up soon! YEAH! I am glad the spotting has slowed down. Sometimes your cervix can be irritated by the progesterone and start spotting also it can be implantation spotting!!

AFM- I am back from my massage and I feel asleep several times. I explained what I was trying to accomplish tomorrow and that I wanted her to concentrate on my lower back to improve the blood flow to my uterus and she knew exactly what I wanted. It was heaven. Also, I was so very happy to tell my job that I will be off for the next three days and will not be talking w/ physicians, returning any work emails or voice mails … boy that felt good!!

Angela That does sound wonderful I was glad my ET fell on a Friday so I could take the whole weekend without having to worry about work. Thanks for the info on the cervix irritation. I'm hoping it was implantation bleeding but I guess we will have to wait a couple days to find out for sure. Hurry up Wednesday!

Angela...Good Luck to you, also!! How many are you transferring? I did a massage on Saturday and she worked on my lower back and tummy...and I had acupucture this morning before the transfer and again this afternoon right after the transfer. He also put these tack-like things or beads on my ears to tap on and stimulate while the doctor was doing the transfer. He then put more on later to keep on for 3 days. It is some sort of new German thing. Kinda weird, but so cool...if it works. lol

Hopeforbabies...Cant wait to hear the good news on Wednesday! How many days past are you? I think that you need to go poas right now!! I cant wait till tomorrow! lol Soo exciting!

Franny...Oh dear! I'm so sorry, but the girls are right....it only takes 1. Angela has a great suggestion about changing docs for a different protocol (for the next baby...cause this 1 is going to work!)...I've seen it happen and work many times. Praying hard for you! Big Hugs.

AFA...I'm PUPO!!!!

All 3 of my (5 day blast) embabies survived the thaw!!! All 3 of my little babies are home where they belong...and are snuggling into their mama!!! They beat the thaw rate odds. 1 is starting to hatch already and is considered excellent, 1 is good, and 1 is lagging behind just a bit and is just okay. I not only got pictures of them and the petri dish that they were in this morning....but also got an ultrasound picture of them being placed back in my uterus! Soo sooo cool!

I go back for my beta 2 weeks from today...on April 19th. If I'm pregnant...I go back again on April 26th for another beta. Then, we go back on May 4th, for my first ultrasound...to find out how many babies took.

To answer your question I am 11dp3dt if you count the actual day of transfer. I don't know if you are suppose to count that day or not?
