Hi everyone
Just looking for some reassurance. We got a BFP on 30th March. Our clinic don't do blood tests, we are just asked to do a HPT 14 days after ET, then we're booked in for a pregnany scan 3 weeks later to check all ok/how many babies. So, our scan is on 21st April. I just feel really nervous and wish the scan would hurry up and get here. I hear a lot about people getting BFP only to find that they go for u/s and there's no heartbeat etc etc...
I am terrified of this happening to us. Anyone else felt the same? I remember feeling a little like this with my first IVF pregnancy but all turned out to be fine. I really want to be positive and excited but this wait for the scan seems to be going soooooo slowly!
Anyone know what the statistics are for this happening?
Sorry - I'm such a worry wort!!
Thanks ladies x

wow ive never heard of them not doing a beta. I had a hard time as well even waiting to see if my beta doubled every 48 hours. and i had an even worse time between scans. the truth is sometimes the more you read the more it scares you. i wish sometimes i wouldnt have researched sooo much because really every pregnancy and woman is different. the worst for me was after seeing a HB at 6 weeks and then having to wait until today at 10 weeks to make sure everything was fine, and i had to beg for an u/s from my OB. just try to relax and enjoy that you got a BFP easier said than done.
I understand that the IVF process is different in your country and I am sure it is getting to you that you haven't been able to get b/w or see your little one yet. Don't worry though. If you have to, keep taking HPTs to reassure you. Every one of use worries between the BFP and whatever the next test is. We have done so much to get where we are. You should join the pregnancy thread! There are a few in the Winter thread that know exactly what you are going through! Everything turned out just fine for them too! After all you have been through I am sure it is hard to not panic a bit. Just enjoy being pregnant! Congratulations new mommy!

Ems1971 - I was in the same boat as you, my UK clinic doesn't do betas either so I was told to do an HPT at home on 18dpt and again at 25dpt and if both were positive to call up and book in for a 7 week scan. I won't lie, that 3 week wait seems to go on so, so much longer than the horrible 2ww, but you can get through it. You just have to tell yourself that everything will be fine, as it was with your first IVF pregnancy. To help ease my mind, I bought some cheapie strip tests from Amazon (about £5 for 50, so it hardly breaks the bank) - they are just the paper pregnancy strips without the plastic packaging, and you dip it in early morning wee to test. I did one every day until my 7wk scan and just watched the second blue line get darker and darker and come up quicker and quicker as time went on. Really helped to reassure me that my HCG levels were climing steadily.
And in the UK as you'll know from your first pregnancy, we get so fewer appointments and scans than over the pond, so we need to get used to the idea of having to wait longer than other people for scans. I've only had scans at 7wks and 11wks, then my next scan is next week for my 20wk check, and unless I get classed as high risk for some reason, I won't get another one!
I agree with Steph, why don't you join the Spring cycle thread and you can chat to people going through the same timeline as you? I found that it helps so much to be able to compare notes and get support when you're worrying about things.
Take care, and let us know how you get on.

I went through the same with my pregnancy and was worried sick. I kept looking for signs I was pregnant and found none, just some minor sickness. The day of the scan I felt really ill and everything was perfect. Ems is right we have to get used to less scans. I had one at 8 weeks and one at 20 weeks. We had another at 22 weeks but only because the 20 week one was not clear. We paid for an extra 4d scan at 26 weeks. Then from 28weeks on we had very quick scans that checked the placenta and cord regularly. This is because the consultant sees ivf pregnancies as slightly higher risk.
I know it is a hard wait but try and relax, I am sure your little bean is doing well.
Take care

Thanks ladies for all your reassuring words.
I have done 3 HPTs in the last week as I had them in the pack anyway and the line has got darker and come up quicker each time so that's reassuring!
hjw - I think I may do what you suggested and buy some cheapy ones from Amazon...I know people might think its mad but it will help me get through the next couple of weeks until the scan.
I remember last time the morning sickness started to kick in around 2 weeks after the BFP so if that happens soon, although horrible, it will be a good sign.
Thanks again ladies for all your advice. Really appreciated!

Question is, does anyone NOT worry during that 3 week wait? It's totally normal, and I think the cheapy HPTs are an excellent idea! 5 quid is a small price to pay for relative peace of mind on a daily basis. Whatever gets you through so you can relax as much as possible. Lots of luck, and happy pregnancy
