Lucky- I would have been worried too! I'm sure they put you at ease and reassured you that you were doing the right thing. When I called the nurse last week, I was afraid she would call me back and chastise me, but she was very kind and reassuring, so it made me feel like I wasn't a total idiot for calling. You did the right thing, so don't beat yourself up over it! I'm still planning on talking to my doctor about my little scare when I see her tonight, just to get some peace of mind.

gi- I hope you and j are celebrating anyway! Sure, it's early, but you are pregnant and there's no reason that this will not work out and you will have a bouncing baby (or 2) in about 8 months! Good for you guys! Keep up the PMA and you're in my thoughts and prayers! Your beta is on my birthday (3/11) so that has to be good luck along with St. Patty's day around the corner.

AFM- I had my baby shower this weekend. It was sooo nice and I really couldn't believe how generous people were. We got sooo much baby stuff and some of my friends and family even came in from out of town. One of my friends flew in from Houston the night before as a surprise. It was such a great time and I was so happy to see everyone. Now our living room is full of stuff that I don't even know where to start with! That's not a bad problem to have though. I'm trying to rack my brain for some things that I might be missing, but I can't think of anything. Even when I stroll through the baby aisles at the store, there's nothing that jumps out at me that I need. Bradley and Charlotte will be here in about 7 weeks and life will never be the same :-)

SO many exciting things going on for all of us!

DH and I had our first childbirth preparation class last weekend . . . first class was all about labor and breathing . . . next week is movies and then a tour of the maternity word . . . are y'all taking baby classes? We're also taking breastfeeding, infant care, and labor pain relief . . . so much to learn =)

deftones- I happened to see your post while I was still online. We took 3 classes, well 3 if you count the tour. We did the tour, then we did breastfeeding (ugh, horrible instructor--boring boring boring for us!) and then the newborn care class which we loved. I'm not taking the childbirth class only because I plan on having a c-section and because it's 6 weeks long and I would be fortunate to make it that far! They offer an "express" class on Saturdays, but it goes from 8 am-6 pm and I don't think I could handle that after the long workweek, so I'm hoping my reading, friends and family, and watching "A Baby Story" :-) will be enough to get me through the process. Isn't it crazy how real this is all starting to become?

Hi Everyone,

DefTones - We are starting our birthing classes on March 23. But then I guess it works very differently in Germany. The tours are generally done in informational sessions, so I had mine back in January. The class is led by an independent midwife. I am sure my husband will have a thrill (NOT). Since he speaks only English and the class will be in german I will be the coach for most of the time :)

Gi - I am so excited for you. This is wonderful news. Hope all does well.

JG - Sounds like you had a blast at your party. I so miss these and wish we had something similar here. You will be all set for the little ones now.

AFM - Not much going on here, a bit of side pain right under the ribs that I will mention during my next pre-natal appt. on Wednesday. It goes away with heating pads but gets worse when laying down. Needless to say sleeping has not been my favorite past time recently. Although I am sooo exhausted.

Has anyone been experiencing swollen hands and wrists? My fingers KILL me in the morning whwn I try and make a fist . . . wrists are pretty sore too . . .feels like carpel-tunnel syndrome . . . I read that water retention is the culprit and I have to limit my sodium intake and drink LOTS of water . . . wonder what my OB will say on wednesday . . . as long as my protein in low, I won't be too worried . . .

How is everyone feeling? I feel great . . . ffirst trimester went by sloooooooooooooow, second whizzed on by, and now the third is going slow too . . . :)

deftones- yes, swollen fingers (they look like little sausages now) and wrists. I have cankles too! I drink a ton of water and eat a lot of fresh food, but I still have this issue. My blood pressure is always fine and they don't find anything wrong with my urine each week, so i'm sure i'm fine, just a side effect of pregnancy that i'll have to deal with. It feels more like arthritis to me.

Lucky- I know what you mean about the side pain under the ribs too. When I mentioned it to my doctor, she said it was basically the ab muscles being torn away from the ribs and it's totally normal in the later stages of pregnancy. Not sure if you're experiencing the same thing or not, but it hurts. A LOT!

Not much going on here, i'm getting bigger by the day it seems and having a tougher time getting around, especially as the day goes on. Sleeping is difficult too, it's extremely hard getting comfortable and then when I do get comfortable, it only lasts a short time before I have to adjust again. Babies are starting to become less active too, I think probably because of the growth restriction they are probably experiencing in there. My doctor is planning on delivering the babies on April 30 if I make it that far. That's just 6.5 weeks away!

JG: Just keep rinking that water and try to lower your sodium intake . . . I've also been taking a shower in the morning and one at night . . . really helps the tightness . . .

Board is getting quiet! We must all be nesting =)
Not much longer, ladies . . .

Hi Everone,

Deftonesmo is correct. It has gotten so quiet on the Board. I guess we are all preoccupied with making last preparations. Nothing much to report here beyond the nasty virus that has now returned and plagues me with a bronchitis again. I am on sick leave until after Easter but I can really use the tme to sleep and try to not cough too much. Coughing and the baby pushing on the lungs is not too fun, but I will manage.

How has everyone been?

Hi everyone

Sorry for my delayed reply. Have all kinds of lame excuses. Have been hanging on......No reason for my absence ......a lot of emotions....preparations and laziness. Some family disturbances going on(not with Hubby) so very tied up.

I have been doing OK. Did develop gestational diabetes so was frustrated. Due date is may 22 but CS is scheduled for May 12th. Very excited/nervous/panicky now that we are getting close.

Praying for you all everyday though

Have a question......anyone decided / researched on strollers/car seats

Hi May,

I know what you mean. Gestational diabetes had me on the run as well. Mine is not very bad, just have to take an insulin shot at night and then measure throughout the day, no real diet or anything, and they cannot tell with the baby right now but am on weekly monitoring now. How about you?

How come you are scheduled for a CS? Was that your request or because of the GD? I have heard GD causes doctors to often opt for this because they are afraid the baby will be too big.

Hi Ladies,
I'm still holding out here at almost 35 weeks and i'm still working too! Babies are doing fine, I have another appointment tonight, but last time they checked, I was 1-2 cm dilated. I hear that people can hold out this way for weeks though, so I am just going to do what I do until they tell me to stop :-)

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter. DH and I were planning on making it a nice quiet event at home considering I didn't want to get too far away from the hospital just in case. Well, the in-laws called on Saturday night, they had just returned from Wisconsin Dells and their kitchen sink and dishwasher didn't work because the pipes were clogged in the basement, so they asked if they could all come over on Sunday for Easter. We had like 12 hours to prepare! Needless to say, my feet are still swollen from being on my feet all day and night on Sunday. I need to learn how to say no! I'll have to make a mental note to myself to never ask an 8.5 month pregnant woman for anything!!!!

May- So glad to hear that you're hanging in there, I was getting worried about ya! Feel free to vent to us, that's what we're here for! My gosh, that baby will be in your arms before you know it!!! I'm "scheduling" my cs for April 30, but we'll see if I can make it that long! I can feel a baby kicking my cervix right now as I type! Ha ha, it's like they're knocking saying "let me out of here, it's too crowded!"

Lucky-Oh, i'm so sorry to hear that you're sick. I am so uncomfortable right now that being sick would just put me over the edge! Feel better soon and take care of yourself.

deftones- thanks for the tips. I like the shower tip too. If I could be in water 24/7, I think i'd be happy. Must be the pisces in me!

Hi all

My hands and feet are swollen too.
Occasionally I have numbness & tingling . Doc says its normal coz of the fluid retention and Carpal tunnel like symptoms.

My CS is due for May 12th and its not coz of DM but I had a prev CS with my first child. So coz of the high risk preg the doc doesn't want to take any chances....and I don't blame him. I have come this far.....will go ahead with the surgery.

Lucky one:-My GD is well controlled and its very borderline like yours. I am controlling with diet and glyburide 2.5mg

These days I can see my little ones movement on my belly.........its interesting to watch her activities. We both stare at my belly for hours. And you all are right its fun and emotionally there is no word that can describe the feeling overall, but at the same time "uncomfortable" is the right word for physical symptoms.

GI- I am so happy for you and will keep you in my prayers

You all take care

Looks like today's the day! I go in for a c-section tonight at 7. I'm soooo nervous and in total denial so far. I just found out a couple of hours ago! I was at work and the doctor called, they had gotten the test results back for preeclampsia and want to deliver the babies ASAP. Please say prayers for healthy, big babies and an easy surgery! Here we go!!!
