anyone in 2nd 2 WW???

Post by bina »

I know I should be posting this on the other side, but am totally not ready for it. So sincere apologies to all of you who think this is out of order and ungrateful.....!!!

Somehow the 2nd 2WW is almost worse than the first one, because I didn't really expect a +ve, I suppose.....but am now "over-moitoring" every single little twinge....

Anyone else feeling really anxious at this stage?
Gem - how are you coping?
Susan - you've just had your scan, haven't you? What do they look for?

What questions should I ask? Still got 10 days to go..............
Any buddies welcome!
Cheers,
bina

Hi Bina

Poor you! The 2nd 2ww is a real nightmare but there is nothing you can do to speed it along. Try to keep calm and enjoy being pregnant. It is such an exciting time and will fly once you get passed 12 weeks.

The sonographer will look for a gestational sac (or 2 or even 3 )There are 2 lots of triplets on their way over on the other side, and a little flicker of a heartbeat. Sometimes it can be a little too early for the heartbeat to be seen so don't panic. It really is amazing when you see it.

Now, just relax and keep calm - if you can :? I am such a hypocrite as I was a total mess on my 2nd 2ww  Ho hum.

Love Dagny xkx

Hiya Bina

Congrats on your positive...excellent!

I know exactly how you are feeling. I am 8 weeks and 2 days pregnant and had my 1st scan 2.5 weeks ago. Well the first week after the positive test I was terrible. I felt sick, couldnt sleep nor eat, also had the runs every day! (Sorry, cant spell diarea?!?!?!). Then I had the cold from hell turn up, so was in a right state. Well, I put this all down to nerves. After seeing the flickering heart beat, it really put my mind at rest, even though i was shaking when i came out. I felt like crying, I was sooo happy.
At the scan, the nurse said "i will be quiet at first as I am looking for the sac", well I layed there looking at the ceiling, quivering! then she pointed it all out. And to see the ickle blob flickering, is out of this world.

I used to keep checking my boobs every day just to make sure. Then one day I woke up and they didnt hurt or look any different, and I balled my eyes out! Well I told myself to get a Grip !!!!!!! All of the symptoms come and go. I still get twinges every now and then, and no sickness at all. Boobs veiney off and on.

First midwife appointment Tuesday!!!!! :)

It is normal to feel like this - wish I could say it will pass but I don;t think it will  All the waits between scans are awful - you have so much to lose! I totally understand why you are not on the other side and I am sure everyone is thrilled on this side to see you pg and it gives them hope!
Try and relax - easier said than done. It is too early for symptoms - I always swore I would not look at the screen but was always drawn to it immediately. You should see a sac and then they try and get a heartbeat - like Dagny says not always possible -depends on the way it is lying the equipment etc. There might or might not be a yolk sac - they measure the sac anyway and this is normally all they see. IT is hell waiting I am afraid and once you see it then your forget all that worrying and a couple of weeks later start on the next lot!

Thanks so much, everyone!
Yes - can relate to everyting you say (boob checking in particular!). But it's just sooo good to know I'm not the only one going mental over tiny symptom-checking and making any twinge into a major disaster...! Also, I didn't realise the symptoms can come an go, I really thought once you have them (especially sore boobs) they stick. So this set my mind at rest a little - at least for 5 minutes

It's now another 6 days until the scan and I don't know how to make it until then. DH thinks I'm hugely exaggerating and should just enjoy it all, but then again that is so much easier said than done...!

How does everyone deal with travel? I travel frequently for work, but don't obiouvsly compromise my pregnancy - should I quite all flying? My 'pregnancy bible' book only says that flying is the safest at weeks 18-24, but that doesn't help me in my current state... what does everyone else do?
Also, what about supplements? Folic Acid is a given, but Merilyn's book (I assume most people know it) suggests also zinc (30mg) and Vitamin C (1000 mg) and linseed (1000mg) - does anyone take these? On the bottles it says to ask the doc first - has anyone?

Sorry about all the questions, I suppose keeping myself occupied with all the thoughts of what I could be doing is the only way I've found that helps me cope...!
Cheers for all your help!

It is fine to fly but depends on you and your mental state - don't have any regrets is what I say as you have fought too long to get there but pilots and airhostesses get pregnant and are fine so there you go..........
As for vitamins - folic acid is the most important but I take pronatal with extra folic acid each day and have all along and one zinc and one vitamin e - I was taking vit c but stopped it when I read it not really necessary and try and up the fruit intake with summer coming up - says her upping the choccie intake. Did not ask the doctor but is fine as my midwife knows!
As i say folic is the most important but an all round vitamin for pg is very good
Take care
