Lauren – I also was on day 5 of injecting my Follistim when my estradiol was only 109 from a baseline, which wasn’t good. The estradiol level gives them an idea of how your follicles are growing because the more your follicles grow, the higher the estradiol number is (it is released from the follicles). So by day five, most RE’s like estradiol levels to at least double from baseline. So my RE bumped me from 300 to 375 (Follistim) and by the next u/s and BW they began to grow, which was only 3 days later. Since this is your first IVF, try not to panic because your RE is just getting used to your ovaries and how they respond to the Follistim. They usually want the follicles to reach at least 18mm for ER and I think they grow from 1-3 mm per day. So you have time!

To tell you how each cycle can be different, just 1 ½ years ago when I had my first fresh cycle, I only needed 225 of the Follistim the entire time w/ no adjustments! That just goes to show you that you never know how your ovaries will respond but your RE is experienced and I am sure knows what he/she is doing. And, yes the Ganirelix is supposed to stop premature ovulation when someone is going through IVF. Just a FYI, I knew myself when the follicles started to grow because I began to feel very bloated, full, and just uncomfortable and that started after the dose was increased. It will work out, so don’t stress over it.

Hey Ladies,
Just a quick question. I know loads of you 2wwaiters are having loads of twinges and pains etc. and it's worrying me that I feel NOTHING. During my last IVF, when I got a BFP, I definitely felt things things were 'happening' but this time NOTHING. I am 3dp2dt today. Do you think this means nothing is going on? Have any of you ever not felt twinges and things and still had a BFP? (isn't it funny how we worry when we feel stuff and worry when we don't?). Thanks so much! Kx

Kushka - One thing I have learned w/ pregnancy and IVF, is that each pregnancy is different. There are so many women on this forum that had absolutely no symptoms at all and they were pregnant! You can’t base your pregnancy results on the symptoms because it is just too early. I just started having a twinge or two yesterday and that was 3dp5dt and today has been very noticeable to where I am a little concerned with the sharp shooting pain through my uterus. But, I think you are still so very early and your symptoms still might show up and then again they might not … and you will still get your BFP.

If I am calculating right, your embryo is just at the blastocyst stage today because you had a 2 day transfer, so you have at least 5 more days before your embryo has completely implanted in the lining. So plenty of time for symptoms! Do you want me to post the stages of the embryo development following the transfer for you?

Okay so I POAS today and got a BFN, been crying all morning. Beta is Tuesday, but if all the HcG injection is out of my system then, its pretty accurate??? I am 11dp2dt today, now I have to take DH to the airport and I don't know how I'm going to make it. I'm so sick....

Latrell - don't give up hope! I have heard about lots of women who have got negative hpt, but positive beta. Everyone is different. But I know how it feels (and ruins days) by getting no line when POAS! Good luck and sending you PMA.

Lauren: Thanks I'm trying hard to remember that. I just feel so defeated, I don't know how to bounce back if this doesn't work for me. It was so hard to before, I don't know where to get the strength from.

Latrell...did you use a digital like you did the other day? You have to have over 50 hcg to make it work. You cant use those yet. Go get a First Response Early Test or google to find another test that only requires 25 hcg to work and try again later today or tomorrow. It is still too early for most people, too. I'm sorry that you did not get your BFP before DH left...but I still think you will. Keep the faith!

For those wondering about cramping and twinges....very normal. I've had them all week. Yet...some girls get no cramping/twinges at all. And, that is also very normal. Please try to ignore all symptoms. Some girls get morning sickness, I never had it at all with Zach. Some girls get spotting, I did. Most of what we feel right now...can be traced back to our meds. Tiredness, nausea, sore tatas....all of it. Please try not to read into it and just keep in mind that sometimes (especially early in the 2ww)...it is the meds...and then, hopefully eventually, it's from a pregnancy.

That being said...
I just woke up with a metallic taste in my mouth and really bad restless legs...2 possible early pregnancy signs that I've gotten before, that dont have anything to do with all of our meds. Fingers crossed.

Latrell - please don't give up hope. My friend got a negative result, cried all weekend and then had a positive beta - she's just had a beautiful baby girl. Keep the faith! And if, God forbid, it doesn't work for you this time, please don't worry about how you're going to cope. Looking ahead is terrifying. I find that just taking it one day (or even hour) at a time is the best way, and you WILL be ok. Much love and hope to you!

I just POAS. 6dp5dt. Yes, it is a bit too early to be testing...but, I just got a BFP!!! Yes, you have to look closely and turn the stick just a bit to see it. lol Yes, it is the faintest of pink lines...but, a line is a line. And, it showed up within the first 3 minute time frame. Woohoo!!!! I got the same faint pink line with Zach at 10dp3dt (maybe a hair darker)...so thinking that since I got it 2 days earlier...we may be looking at twins.

I hope everyone gets their BFP! I am praying sooo hard for each and every one of you! Stick Babies Stick!

Tammy - YAY!! How exciting! I got my BFP at 8dp3dt, so just at the same time as you. Very exciting! When is your beta?

Latrell - Please don't be discouraged, though I know that is much easier said than done. Some people get BFPs earlier than others. My friend with twins got a BFN at 12dpo...and she had twins! so you just never know. But, I do know that total and utter disappointment. Praying for you. The thing you have going for you now is that the hcg trigger is out, so any BFP should be a true BFP.

Lauren - GL with those follies. Mine tend to grow crazy fast at the end...like 6-8mm in a day or two. That's why my natural cycles were cancelled so often...I would ovulate early. Your follies can definitely catch up!

And for the 2wwers - Tammy is totally right about the meds. I had symptoms with all three cycles (actually my bbs were MORE sore with my BFNs), so it's so hard to tell. I wrote down every single symptom for everyday this cycle just for kicks. When I got my BFP, my stomach was HUGE and I was totally nauseous. It went away after a few days and I was so freaked it would be a chemical pg. It was just the meds leaving. It's so hard not to analyze EVERYTHING!

Here is the chart. Since you were a 2 day transfer you have to move back one more day on the 3day trasnfer. Your RE is right, implantation does occur day 5/6 but remember, you are behind one day on this chart so that will be day 6 for you after your transfer but it will not be completely implanted until day 8 for you.

Please keep in mind that this is what happens most of the time but I can tell you that I personally was at least 1 day early regarding the 5 day transfer involving my first transfer. So use this as a guide only!

Latrell – First, I wanted to tell you how sorry I am that you got a BFN but the ladies are so very right. IF you look at the chart below, you are testing just one day before it is supposed to be detected on a HPT. Just like Kushka, since you did a 2day transfer, you have to move the transfer date back one day for the 3day transfer. So you are 10pdt according to this chart. So check again first thing in the morning!

Tammy - Congratulations! I am so very happy for you! I think you had your transfer a day before me. So hopefully your good luck will rub off on me too. How many did you transfer and on what day, i.e. 3 or 5 day transfer?
