It's believed that sometimes the loss of one embryo in an early multiple causes a brief slowing in the hCG curve. We've certainly seen it happen.angelaezra wrote:Hello Ghost & ladies,
I need your opinion. I tested 3 days early for by beta at 8dpt5dt and it was 72 and I tested again today (48hrs later) and it didn’t double, it was only 108. But, my progesterone is very high, on Wednesday it was 252 and today my progesterone is 289. My RE said that he is not too concerned because sometimes w/ a normal pregnancy if the beta doesn’t double but the progesterone is as high is mine that it still can be a normal pregnancy. Of course, I have serious doubts and need your opinion. I asked would the vaginal suppositories account for such a high beta and he said no that they can’t measure that, what they are measuring is what my ovaries are producing only.
I have read some data that says that a beta can take between 48 to 72 hrs to double and it seems like if I would have waited 72 hours, it would double then instead of just the 48 hrs. I am not having any spotting or severe cramping so far and I just wonder what is going on w/ this pregnancy.
I will have a repeat beta on Monday.
Thank you in advance,
Angela

Ghost - I only transferred 1 embryo w/ this cycle, so if I lose it, that would be it. I have been thinking about my HCG test and I have a theory.
I tested w/ a HPT/Ovulation test 5 days following my last HCG shot and it was negative (so I thought my trigger was gone). But, the test that I used had a sensitivity of 25, so I could have still had some of the HCG in my system from the shot in my system but not detectable by the HPT, right?. I had my first beta test 3 days early at 8dpt5dt and it was 10 days after my Ovidrel shot (the level was 72). My second beta was 48 hours later and it was 108, my question is, since I tested only 10 days after my Ovidrel shot, is it possible that I could have had less than 25mIU/ml in my system from the trigger shot plus what my pregnancy was producing to show a higher than normal HCG level? I just find it strange that my HCG level would have doubled IF my first HCG was 54 (which would have been 18 minus because the trigger shot).
Hopefully, my theory isn’t too confusing. I guess I will find out for sure on Monday.
Thank you for your input.

His progesterone theory makes no sense to me. hCG can affect progesterone levels by promoting progesterone production, but not the other way around.angelaezra wrote:Ghost – I still didn’t get the news that I was expecting so I cannot put my mind at ease. My HCG level increased from 108 to 207 in 72hrs. My RE still isn’t concerned because he thinks my high progesterone levels are diluting my HCG levels. I thought an increase from 108 to 207 was ok because now they say that your HCG should double in 48 to 72 hours not just 48 hours. So now I am back to square one … another HCG test on Wednesday, which I am sure will not double by then either. This is driving me crazy.
My progesterone level today was 257, which is still so very high for this stage of my pregnancy. My RE says it should be around 50, so that is why he thinks my pregnancy is progressing just fine. He said the vaginal suppositories are not affecting my progesterone levels so this is all from my ovaries. If I didn’t have a child at stake, I just feel like giving up. My life is constantly on hold involving fertility and I end up with nothing in the end. I am just so upset that once again, I am worrying about losing yet another child.
Please provide any input or suggestions!

My progesterone level is still high at 241 but I will take the good news anyway! Thank you so much for all of your support and advice! You don’t know how much it means to me to have everyone on this board to chat with daily.
