We go Monday for our first egg retrieval. I have 11 good size follicles. I was hoping for more, but I will take what I can get. The doc said we may not have any eggs left to freeze for later, but that is okay we already paid for a second cycle of IVF in a shared risked program they offered. I am so nervous and excited. Keeping our fingers crossed

MKD - I have been having some pretty crazy dreams as well lol! I also had a FET on April 16. My beta is the 27th!

Franny - I am sorry, hang in there. I hope all goes well, but if it doesn't I try to think there is a reason for everything. For myself I figure that I had 7 embryos. They put two in last time and it didn't work. I just figure one of the other 5 were meant to be instead. If I had got pregnant in January or February I would have been done doing this and not used the others. Sounds a little crazy, but I think one of these is going to work. So if it doesn't work out this time, yours is still coming. And about people having babies.....I have 4 friends who are pregnant (one with twins), my sister in law is pregnant, and my boss is too!!! I am happy for them, because most have been trying for a while,but also a little annoyed that when will it be my turn? My friend got pregnant on her first try with IVF a year ago, so when I did it I was sure I would be too. After 3 iuis and 2 IVFs I am still trying! But oh well. Some people here have experienced much worse than I have. Please try to stay positive and don't give up! What's the saying? If at first you don't succeed try try again.

Franny ooh hun! You know we understand how you feel & believe me I have broke down just watching commercials It's an emotional roller coaster, but sweetie you never know what God has in-store for us - I'm praying that you get a BFP tomorrow! Try to get some rest & relax!

My Dr called this morning with the fertilization report. 1 egg didn't divide, 2 are at grade 6 or 8 (can't remember ) & 1 is at grade 4 - He recommended we transfered the 2 that are ready We are going to ET today at 12:30. I will post later, but keep us in your prayers.

Emmax – the brown discharge is very normal w/ women who are pregnant with multiples babies. Just make sure you let your doctor know the discharge is continuing. You are doing fine!

Mkd – I know they say try to not to have orgasms but this is not something that you had any control over so don’t worry. I love this saying that I have heard so many times “only worry about the things you can control and the other uncontrollable things, don’t worry about it”. Things will happen during the 2ww that you can’t control so we just have to hope for the best outcome, which is a BFP. I am sure you are fine.

Amanda – ER on Monday that is great … I only had 11 follicles during my first ER in 2008 and for this cycle I had probably 20 but they could only retrieve 10 from my right ovary because my left ovary was hidden behind my uterus and colon, so my RE couldn’t reach it.

Lauren 1171 – thanks for asking, I am doing ok but probably driving my husband crazy. I keep asking is it Monday yet? I will be such an emotional mess until I hear my 3rd beta results on Monday afternoon.

Paty – I want to wish you good luck for your ET today. I know everything will be fine. Let us know how it went when you are feeling ok.

AFM – I am anxiously waiting tomorrow so I can see if my beta doubles from 108. I feel just fine. I can feel my uterus growing and stretching w/ some shooting pain every now and again and the nausea seems to be getting worse and no spotting. So I am holding onto the hope that my baby will be fine.

Emmax – I have been told several, several times by my doctor that a brown discharge is very common for women who are carrying multiple babies. If the blood is bright red, that means you are actively bleeding and your doctor should try to find out where it is coming from with a vaginal ultrasound. But, the brown discharge means it is old blood that probably was from your implantation or even slight irritation from your progesterone replacement. It might be a good idea for them to get another beta on Monday that way they will know if your HCG levels are doubling every 48-72hours. That is usually a good indication if the pregnancy is progressing normally. If I were you, I would ask them to repeat it on Monday. It will help ease your mind.

The best thing you can do is try to calm down and monitor it to make sure it doesn’t get worse or turn bright red for a long period of time. What I mean by that is, you might have a little spotting that is bright red but if it is continuous like your menstrual cycle then you need to definitely get a hold of your doctor.

Emmax - thanks for asking! I am just nervously awaiting my third beta results tomorrow. I am also just relaxing this entire weekend as I think I over did it this week at work!

Lauren – good luck for tomorrow for your ER. Just remember to try to relax for your ER. Are you going under general anesthesia or will they just give you a sedative/pain medication? I preferred the general anesthesia but I know you will be fine. Your RE will tell you after your ER how many follicles he/she retrieved and then you will get a call each day to update you on your embryos. Just remember that your ovaries are still very swollen, so try not to lift heavy items still. They may stay swollen for over a month or so. I was fine the day following my ER during my first ER in 2008 and went back to work the next day but after this ER I was sore and needed an extra day to recuperate, but everybody is different.

For the ET:
There are some good advice to follow through the 2ww after your ET under the general forum titled do’s and don’ts. I think some of them are a little over board but I just followed the rules to not do anything that you will regret later. No lifting anything over 5lbs (some docs say 10lbs), low stress, some RE’s prefer bed rest for 5 days following a 3 day transfer and 3 days for a 5 day transfer. I personally took off three days but my RE didn’t suggest it because I knew I wouldn’t be able to relax if I went back to work. But, there is still a lot of debate whether bed rest is actually a benefit following ET.

Try to update is after you get some rest following your ER tomorrow.

I am so glad that someone brought op the topic of "orgasms". I was so embarrassed too, however this is usually the last thing i am thinking about... but ever since I have tested positive to be pregnant...It is crazy.

Angela, you wrote that it was not recommended to have "orgasms", where did you read that? I never asked my RE.. But I thought it was OK to have intercourse and reach a climax after 48 hours after ET... WE waited about a week, but after I got my blood work back and my beta's have been increasing...WE are like newlyweds again! My husband is loving this pregnancy! I have my first ultrasound on Wednesday, we are praying to see a heartbeat! I hope we didn't do something to that little bean... I didn't experience this with my other pregnancies, so I am wondering if this is normal... Do you have a website that I can research the risks of having sex while in the first trimester.

Stephanie – my RE gave me a hand out for IVF and it is under the do’s and don’ts following ET. It states “do not have intercourse or female orgasm from the time of egg retrieval to the pregnancy test”. Actually, my RE told me no sex at all until my pregnancy was confirmed because of the risk of an orgasm. It is also stated under the general forum for this web site under do’s and don’ts, so I guess other REs have told other patients the same thing. If you also Google it, it talks about no orgasms also. But, sometimes this is something that we can’t control especially if you are sleep!

From what I have been told by my RE as long as you are not having a high risk pregnancy or currently spotting/bleeding, having sex after your BFP is confirmed is perfectly fine. So don't worry!
