Congratulations Kim! I am preggers with twins due November 4th. I have an older daughter. My hormones have been all over the place. It's like I have PMS on steroids or something.

hey ladies - it makes me feel so much better to hear that you all have other kids too! We are wondering how we are going to handle my son and 2 more! He turned 1 yesterday so they will be close! Are you guys working now? what about after the babies? We cant afford daycare for 3 so i will be quiting which is scary but exciting at the same time. Where do you guys live? Have you gotten any good twin avice? I have to admit im really excited to tell people but im only 9 weeks so im waiting a few more weeks. Too bad im showing tremendously!! Much more horomal and tired than with a singleton!

Kim - I hear you on the hormones! My first post here mentioned mine. lol My DD is 10 almost 11 so she is excited to help. Glad Iwill have those extra hands, but I don't want to take advantage. I want her to enjoy her little brothers or sisters. I don't work, I am an Army wife at Fort Hood TX and things will get tight after they are born, but we will have to make due and I am sure everything will be fine. I haven't really gotton any "twin" advice since no one I know personally has any themselves. I get some from the other thread I am in though from some other twin mommies to be. Like, I have been spotting for like a month now. Most of it is hardly anything but still scarey! I have a subchorionic hematoma. Aparently these are common with multiples. The blled is actually how I found out I was having twins! I thought for sure I was miscarrying, but the u/s showed two healthy little beating hearts instead. I bawled like a baby. lol How bad is your baby bump showing now? I haven't gained any weight but I look preggers alright! When are you due? You never mentioned your EDD. :)

Babyluv - Your EDD is Thanksgiving weekend! I bet you will have plenty to be thankful for! :)

Boy, you are both having twins with little ones, I am sure your work will be cut out for you. Do either of your have a support system plan? For me, DH will be taking his 10 days paternal leave and then take another 20 or 30 on top of that. I have a few people willing to come and stay for a little while too in order to see them and help out a bit as well.

I stay home with the kids now, so I will definitely continue to do so after the twins arrive! The best twin advice I have gotten (I have a TON of friends with twins, some naturally some via IVF or clomid) is to make every calorie count, rest a ton and drink LOTS AND LOTS of water! That's good advice for any pregnancy, but can really help carry the twins to a good birth weight. My friend told me to get "Ready or Not...Here We Come!" as it's a great book. She said the rest are scary! I downloaded it for my Kindle and it reminds me a lot of "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy".

I am 7 1/2 weeks and I have already told EVERYONE! Once I saw those heartbeats, I couldn't keep my mouth shut :D

So far I am not super hormonal and I have been feeling pretty good, but I guess we'll see if that changes. I am tired more often that's for sure.

As far as having a plan in place...not sure yet. DH will take two weeks off, and if they don't arrive TOO early, should get another week in with all the holidays. My mom will come up and help for a while too, and then we'll probably get a part-time nanny (like 15 hours a week) to help. The kids will both be in preschool 4 1/2 hours on MWF, so that will help. Once they are about 6-9 months old (and hopefully sleeping through the night), I think I'll be able to manage pretty well on my own. It's those first few months I'm worried about! My kids were 18 months and 6 months when we adopted them, so I've never done the newborn phase. I was nervous with just one, so I am definitely freaking out a little with two! But excited. :D

wow we are all due at the same time - im nov 20th! You are both lucky you are at home right now - i was waddling around work the last month with my son and it was not pleasant - let alone with twins! I hope to quit my job late summer but it will be hard since i make more than my hubby. We cant afford 3 kids in daycare so im not sure what our plans are. After the babies are born, my husband will only be able to take a week. My mom is about 45 min away so im sure she will stay for a week and then be over alot after that. Ideally for the last few months of my pregnancy and the 1st few months after the twins, we would like to do a part-time nanny - like 15 hours - alternatively we could keep my son in daycare so at least his routine wotn be upset - but only for a few months - im not really sure. thanks for the book tip! I had alot of bleeding with my son in the 1st trimester too - they say twins is worse!I am still on the progesterone inserts which i have to admit after 8 weeks are really starting to bother me! ARE YOU guys having identical or fraternal. We assume fraternal. we also are assumming boys because everyone we know who had blast transfers had boy twins but well see :-) my bump is huge - i havent gained any weight but look like im 4 or 5 months prego - it popped up at like 4 weeks and jsut keeps growing - i showed really fast and big with my son - maybe its cause i just had a baby - maybe cause its 2?

We have two very distinct sacs and placentas, so they are fraternal. I had a horrible dream last night that I lost one (it was crazy), and the fact that I've been spotting for a week doesn't help. No cramping and the spotting is always old blood, never bright red, but I'll be happy to see them again when I am 11 weeks!

I am tall and thin, so I personally think I am starting to show a little, but my friends don't see it. It's pretty noticeable by the time I go to bed! I know most people show earlier with their second pregnancy, so maybe I won't right away since this is my first. Hmmm...

Steph, when are you going in for your next u/s? I'm sure you'll be relieved since you've been having bleeding as well!

Kim - staying home will definitely be a transition, but in the end I think you will be really happy that you did. I haven't worked full-time since DH and I got married (I was laid off a few months before the wedding, then worked part-time after that), so for me it was really the lack of free time, not the loss of a job. I feel so blessed to be able to stay with my kids. The preschool thing helps give me a little sanity (especially today since I am feeling completely wiped out), but it's nice to spend so much time with them. You and DH will figure out the finances. When they are all grown, I think we'll all be happy to have several children...more to take care of us when we're old :D

Hi ladies. My twins are due late Sept/early Oct. My original due date is Oct 26th but my OB says the goal is to get to 36 weeks and then I should be ready. But if it goes a bit longer, even better. These are my first children. And last ones. We won't know the difference between having one vs. two, so we feel confident we will adjust just fine. It's something we have worked so hard to get. I feel really blessed and thankful. Don't have to work at a "job" anymore, so now my focus is raising our wonderful kids! Can't wait! Anyone going to a high risk OB? I am, fortunately. He's so awesome. :D :D

wish i could see my little ones in an u/s soon. i see my ob next week for my 10 week. Im assuming my u/s will be around 12 weeks like my son. I bled alot with my son. I think it was from the progesterone. i have also had bleeding this time but not as much. i forgot to take my progesterone this am which freaked me out. How long will u guys take yours? I have to go to 12 weeks!

Kim - I have to go to 12 weeks too. I have been tappering off for 2 weeks now, just one more so go from Thursday. I had my first OB appt today and he ordered me iron and folate. Says I don't need it quite yet, but since I have twins he says I will need it. I got to see them in an u/s and it was amazing seeing them dance all over the place.

Karen - I am hoping to make it to full term, but I am so little. Not sure how my body will tolerate two in there and for how long. So I worry about preterm labor a little, but optimistic.

Babyluv- Mine are faternal as well. Being tall you will probably carry better then a little hobbit like myself. :) I was HUGE with DD so I can only imagine what this will look like. lol I am 11w4d today and belly measures 18 weeks so I should LOOK like I am already halfway there in a week or two.

About the bleeding, doc didn't see any in the u/s so the guess is that it is healed and just some old blood still making it's way out a bit here and there. I was happy to hear that and he recommend I stop the baby asprin in hopes that it helps the spotting stop as well.

if it makes you feel better, we have a tiny petite friend who carried her twins to full term. Afterwards, she didnt even look like she had a baby. Not me - i still have my 1 year olds former pouch :-) I wonder if the iron will make you nauseaus. I guess i too will find out soon. I know it did for me in regular vitamins. Thanks for the heads up.

The twins due in November are going to be a wonderful blessing for their parents, who have wanted a family for over 25 years. I am the surrrogate, so my life will go back to normal after delivery, raising my own two:-)

Kim - It makes me feel a little better. lol I don't see me bouncing back to normal though, not without a lot of work anyway. Going through three cycles, all the stress made me gain 30 pounds. That's a lot for my short stature. I can't exactly blame the hormones which people try to say it's not my fault it was the hormones, but it wasn't. It was me because I went through a donor cycle before and lost weight. I gained while stimming but it was quickly lost. Anyway... this is going to be fun. lol I gained 2 pounds... not a lot since I have the belly the size of an 18 week old singleton, but I fear gaining too much.

hrdtqt - So you not only can go through this experience with us, you can let us know what it is like as well! lol I think it is a wonderful gift you are giving those parents. I was thinking about doing that after this. I am healthy and have no issues myself, had a great donor cycle and great cycles with me, we just didn't know at during our first cycle that DH had issues. His swimmers don't swim towards the egg and rescue icsi didn't work so we did icsi right away the second time, fresh cycle didn't take but the frozen one did times two. lol I think I could be a good surrogate and give the people the joy that we all get to have. Are you letting them be a part of your ob visits and part of the birth and the whole experience?

stephanie - i totally hear ya on the weight gain - i was really thin my entire life until ivf - combo of meds and stress for me - gained about 30 pounds - still have it - baby wieght came right off but not the ivf weight - we also had a male fertility issue and did icsi

I think the surrogacy is a wonderful selfless thing - i honestly dont know if i could do it - how was your 1st twin pregnancy - pretty smooth?
