Post by gem »

Hi Well we have got our day 21 bloods done after testing positive on tuesday my levels were 112 today they are 773 the clinic hhave said they like them to be 1000 so want me to go back on thursday for another blood test,we are so scared are my levels likely to drop or as some peoples risen from 773 and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy??? Hope some one can help us we are feeling confused god we really want this to work and thought it was going to be ok but this is never easy is it,well not for us.My nipples are still sore and veiny but as I'm not even 5 weeks yet I thought it was too early for sickness soI havent been worried about not haveing any sickness,'m going to the toilet alot and havent had any af pains or any bleeding, cant believe we have to wait another 2 days I was due to go back to work tomorrow but now I'm not sure.

Posted on the other side for you too - you and Bina do keep me busy at the moment  Not that I mind

GEm

Poor you - you have been through so much recently and after your stint in hospital I reckon you have a little fighter in there. HCG levels can be dangerous.......... infact all the early info we get can be counter-productive I think. Most normal pg's to use that dratted word do not have HCG levels at all and no scan until they are 12 wks. These HCG's are a baseline - if they are falling then there is a problem clearly - yours are rising but I understand what you are worrying about - I would be the same! IT is a bit like how big you are supposed to be etc - we all do these blooming comparisons. You had a good reading for your 112 but what nobody knows is what day this really was for you - we all know when they go back in but some take immediately and some float around having a think about if they are going to implant or not and that can mean 4 days difference and therefore differing HCG. It seems to me you have the other symptoms - it is too early for sickness yet - even in multiples - trust me! You have other symptoms. I think and of course hope that all will be fine with your HCG on Thursday. RE work - you will do no harm on going back and maybe take your mind off it but all is quiet this week and I reckon you should look after number one and take the two days off and rest and look after yourself.
good luck and let us know how you go but I am feeling confident we will see you over here for good
Love
Tracey

gem, it is so easy to say dont worry...........but afraid we all do, we are
just so scared. All i can say is similar to tracey thoughs, i had a +itve
with a home test and as u can imagine couldnt believe it so asked about
a blood test, and i was told by the lister that as i got a +itve from the
home test that was good enought, although i did go in and have a blood
test as i wanted someone else to say that yes i was pregnant, i asked
about levels but the nurse said they dont look at them, so what im trying
to say is analyising levels etc is not healthy, everyone is different
and have different symptons, but in my early stages i was like you
veiny boobs, no sickness and plenty of visits to the loo for a wee !!!!
Keep strong, alisonnxx

Hi Gem

I agree with Alisonn. Not all places do blood levels. Mine don't even though I asked them too. I think it just gives you something else to worry about and stress over. If you get a HPT positive then knowing what your levels are aren't going to change anything as far as what fate can do. Just try to enjoy being PG. I know it is hard and it is easier said then done but you have got this far and that is a good positive.

Be strong.

I had 1 blood test to confirm the hpt, but they never tested the blood again so i couldn't compare levels which do vary wildly anyway.

good luck, helen

Gem,
I can imagine worrying about the levels must just add to all the other thousands of niggles we're currently dealing with (you and I both had +ve the same day, so we must be at the same stage) - I went back last Friday and Monday for scan and blood test because my belly was so swollen I could not stand up straight. When they called they just said my levels were fine, and I purposely did not ask what the actual levels were (ie the numbers) because I thought it would only freak me out if I compared them so someone elses...what I'm trying to say is that our bodies do really seem to be all different, my clini had never heard of my complaint, thought it might be OHSS, but then dismissed this because my levels were OK, so put it down to perhaps the pessaries, but didn't really have a clue. Whilst this did not fill me with great confidence in the clinic I am feeling better now and just have to trust them that they are doing everything they can to help me keep the little emby!
What did help me was a home pregnancy test - I just wanted to see for myself that I really am pregnant, so that really put my mid at rest (might have to buy a few more to have some stock for when I feel really low).
Sorry I can't help anymore, just rest assured that I'm as paranoid as you are, but we'll get through this!!! We got this far, so let's face the best bit!
All the best, chin up, and of course good luck for tomorrow!

Thanks guys
It is doing our head in all this waiting,I keep trying to stay positive as I dont want to think about what if my levels dont rise we just love it so much all ready,dh as phoned me from work to see if I'm ok and if my nipples are still tender or if I'm not bleeding,if I touch my nipples they are tender and thank god there isnt any bleeding, but as dh said on the phone this waiting is doing our head in its worse then the test day,I'm trying not to think about it but its so bloody hard I keep bursting into tears.
The only think I keep thinking about is that some one my mum works with had a little girl last year at the same clinic as me and her levels were really low they thought it wouldnt progess and her 2nd blood test was 112 she had to have lots of blood test and in the end everything was ok,why as my clinic got to do blood tests I thought the main problem was getting pg but even once you achieve your miracle it still not easy.
Thanks again for replying
I will try to keep positive we are doing llots of praying to god at the moment so hopefully he will listen.

Hi Gem, I agree with the others about not worrying too much, but you know I have been obsessed with beta numbers for 2 weeks now so I thought I'd tell you what I'd found in all my research - they say they should increase by 66% every two days (normally they say double, but 66% actually seems to be the lower boundary of what is still perfectly normal and OK) - by my calculations, that would be 734 on Wed, and you were already there by Tuesday. I wouldn't worry if I were you - yeah, like that advice ever helped, but you know what I mean - TRY not to worry. Staci sent me a really good site on this - it's on the ACB thread - really helped me. I know it's so hard - but you've got the toughest bit done now!

Hi Gem

What a relief for you and DH. Now try and relax a bit before the scan if you can! Hope DH has a good time in Magaluf - tell him to keep away from Go Karts, my DH nearly killed himself on one the other week in Lanzarote. Boys will be boys

Am so pleased for you - WHAT relief!

I am in your panicing club too - need anyones advice (might even post this seperately I am so keen to get some sound advice!)....as you know did blood test yesterday and it was +ve (beta 152) - since then just about all I've thought about is the 20% chance of a miscarriage. So today to help "put my mind at rest " (ha ha!) - I did a home pregnancy test - and it was NEGATIVE. My tummy is less sore than it has been and now I'm really scared its all over.
Has anyone else had a +ve blood and -ve Home pregnancy test. In theory the clininc said to use the HPT tomorrow if I wanted to test it that way - so maybe I was a bit early - but you're either PG or your not right?

Knickers in RIGHT old twist!

Thanks for listening!

Cazx

ps - Gem - I cant belive how over the moon you must be. Good luck with teh scan - my doc told me that once you get to the 7 week scan - and all is well -the chances a healthy pregnancy as MASSIVELY increase - sounds like you're on your way there!
