Hi All,

McFarland2213 - Congrats on the PUPO! Fingers and toes are crossed for you!

PMApsy - I think it is normal for AF to turn up now on the meds I'm on - Synarel nasal spray, twice daily after coming off the BCP. At least the IVF nurse assures me it is normal. TMI here, but I'm midly concerned about it given that in the last two years I've only had one or two visits from AF that haven't stopped (still going strong 6 weeks later) without some kind of intervention, but I'm assuming that once I start the Puregon on Thursday, that will help. Anyone here know?

BW results came back yesterday with the desired Estrogen levels below 200, so we are still on track there! :D

Hi Ladies! Sorry I haven't gotten back on since my first post....Had a big fight w/ hubby tonight about doing FET b/c I feel like he's not going through the same agony as I am and he's so positive and upbeat about it. I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to about it as none of my friends really *get* it. They all got knocked up the first month (grrr).

Anyways, I've been on Lupron since last wed. Got delayed a week. Not sure why. Do they wait to start Lupron after you ovulate?

We've decided to put in two embryos for the FET. Thanks for the advice:> I would be really happy to have twins and be done with this heart-wrenching process.

So, now I'm just waiting for Aunt Flo. I've never wanted her to get here faster.

Do you all exercise during your IVF/FET cycles??
Me: 33 DH: 37, Low Morphology, DOR
IVF#1 2/08: BFP! 11/08 Healthy Baby
FET #1 5/10: BFN
IVF#2 8/10: BFN, 2 Day 5 blasts
IVF#3 11/10: BFN, 3 Day 5 blasts
IVF#4 2/11:BFN, 2 Day 5 blasts
IVF#5 4-5/11: BFP!!! 2 3-days (7 cell, 8 cell) 5/9=866, 5/11=1595

Good Question DC - I'm not doing anything different to what I'd normally do. I'm a horse rider and generally ride every day. We are on a farm, so exercise is a constant rather than going to the gym or anything like that for me. I'm not sure how I'll feel about continuing to ride post ET, so I'd love to hear from others that have. I've got a few eventing competitions lined up in the weeks after the ET, but haven't really thought about it too much as to whether I should do it or not. The horse I have in work at the moment is well behaved and an easy ride, so it certainly wouldn't cause me any undue stress. Anyone got any suggestions?

DCRunningMama - so my RE told me no high impact from stimulation until after the egg retrieval, his worry is that the ovaries can twist which could be serious. Then I am okay to do whatever for 5 days then no high impact again until after the pregnancy test. I am going a little stir crazy since I usually run, but I figure I should trust my doctor, he wants to see me succeed.

mcfarland2213 - great! I am glad the transfer went well! I am hoping sticky things for you!

Kiz - good news about your estrogen levels, sorry that AF stinks but she will be gone before you know it!

sunshine - My RE said that the steroid they prescribe can cause wacky sleep problems, are you on anything like that?

lisa - I hope your brother is doing okay, I am sure that was really scary.

rio - I am sorry your meds are making it hard at work. On top of being hard enough to deal with not getting pregnant add in a large doses of hormones... not a good combo =) Just try to stay positive and strong. You already know that good things can happen with IVF, so try keep that good energy inside. I hope you have lots and lots of follicles this time, but remember you only need one good one!

PMApsy - glad to hear about the yummy wedding cake, it sounds like so much fun starting your catering adventure.

Good morning!

rio,
oh, hunny, I'm so sorry the meds have been causing you some trouble!!!! Crying at work alone behind a closed door is no fun!! *HUGS* How about you see it as good hard training for the first trimester emotional ride? :) By the time you're PUPO, you'll see, your emotions will be well under control! ;) And please don't apologize, we're here for you sweetie. I'll send you tons of good vibes so you can have frosties this time. :D

sunshine,
my psychoanalyst colleagues would have a LOT of fun interpreting your dreams right now! But my theory is more down-to-earth. Pregnant women usually sleep badly at the end of the third trimester because their hormones disrupt their sleep cycles. They have a much lighter sleep, and so they're more prone to wake up because of a full bladder. And after they come back to bed, bing, they're wide awake, unable to fall back asleep and they have to wait until they complete a full wake cycle before they can fall asleep again. So I figure maybe the emotional ride plus the hormones you're taking may make you more sensitive and disrupt your sleep cycles. Which makes you have more vivid dreams.

purplefish,
aw, bummer! Follies, nobody asked you to relax that much during the weekend!!!! WAKE UP GUYS!!!! TIME TO GROW BIG AND PLUMP! Look, at least your levels didn't drop. Maybe you just hit a little plateau and you'll go right up again in the next few days. I remember my first IVF, they were very careful with the stimming because it was my first time, I was years younger and they didn't know how much my body would react. So they started slowly and when they saw I was responding slowly, they increased the meds. That's the beauty of IVF cycles, you can "play" with your hormones until the body reacts the way you want. To me, it's not uncommon at all to see someone take a couple more days of stimming until the follies are big enough for ER. I'm keeping everything crossed for you here. Wow, they test you really often... at my clinic they test you every second day only during stimming. *HUGS* hang in there sweetie!

Ashley,
aha, so that's your name! :D OOooooh your scenario is EXACTLY what I'm hoping for! It makes me all excited to see that everything went so well, I hope the same will happen to me at the end of the week! :D:D:D And of course, silly me, I'm also HAPPY FOR YOU that you're doing well and that the ET went well! :D How is DH doing? Excited? All careful and tending to your every need? Hehehehe on the other threads I've been on, we used to tell PUPO girls, "Welcome to the princess status!!!!" So take care, little princess, and enjoy being pregnant, for you ARE! :D:D:D You won't be alone during your 2ww, I'll be right there with you in a few days! :D

kiz,
first of all, I'm GREEEEEEEEENNNNN with envy. Oh, you live on a farm and you ride every day????? Ooooooooooh how I wish I had the same lifestyle! Same for DH. Same for our two big dogs, Daria and Toulouse. But our jobs don't allow us to do that just yet. We almost did the switch in March when DH's research center almost closed... but it turns out they're among the rare centers worldwide that didn't suffer from the cuts and layoffs. Ah, well. What do you do for a living dear? Yeah, I think when you start stimming with Puregon, whether or not AF has already stopped it will stop. Yay for the estrogen levels, good for you! How is that thyroid doing?

dcrunningmama,
hi there! Sorry to hear you had a fight with DH.... :( Yeah, it's a sad reality that nobody can understand what we're going through. I've had tensions with my friends and relatives, but also with other women here, fellow IVFers, because I felt they didn't understand me sometimes. There are things that DH will never understand because we just don't see the world the same way. My best friend went through the infertility nightmare a few years after I was diagnosed, and still she experienced that very differently from me, she still does and we still don't understand each other at times. Once I accepted the fact that my experience is intimate and personal and I experience IVF like no one else, I dropped those expectations towards others and felt much better, I stopped being frustrated and disappointed all the time. I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong, it's important to feel empathy from others, be listened to, have a shoulder to cry on sometimes. I just see that you're suffering from the situation and I really hope things get better for you. *hugs*
As for the Lupron, one reason might be that many clinics try to pace their patients so people don't all have their ER and ET the same day. That might be why your Lupron got delayed. As for exercising during downregging and stimming, my doctors never advised to change anything. But when you become PUPO, it's better to behave like a pregnant woman. My clinic always told me to stop cardio and musculation for a month after transfer. When you see a heartbeat on the monitor (around 6 weeks into the pregnancy), then you know the embies are well attached and you can resume any exercise you want, knowing that pregnant women are advised to train around 75% of their usual intensity. And it's best, of course, to avoid high impact sports like volleyball, basketball, hockey (risks of falling, bumping into someone, etc.). Personally, I have a private yoga lesson this afternoon because I intend to do a yoga program every single morning from now on until... until I die! :D I'll just ask my teacher which poses I should avoid during the first month (until the baby is well attached) but other than that I'll do the poses happily because I know they'll do my body much good. Hey, there's even yoga DVDs for infertility and becoming pregnant! ;)

kiz,
well, as far as riding is concerned, I know you won't do anything stupid, and it's amazing that you have a strong bond with your horse. I totally understand that. Even the best riders fall... imagine that you fall and start bleeding and... how would you feel then? I know it's just a scenario, but we only get so many chances of becoming pregnant AND keeping the baby, it represents a lot of money and a lot of efforts and emotions. Personally, I would only do gentle rides, no jumps, no races and so on, until I see a heartbeat on the monitor and have the ok from the doc. After that, you just know your baby is okay, and you can resume your normal activities. Provided that there's no risk of a nasty fall. I wouldn't worry too much about the horse's moves; I am a rider and a flamenco dancer and I know that, when you know how to sit on a saddle or know how to place your body, the shocks go into your muscles, not your bones or organs, so no worries there.

Okay, time to keep working on the catering website! :) I'm doing the English pages today! :) Can't wait until I put it online! Should be tonight or tomorrow! Yaaaay!

Take care ladies,

Sophie xxox

Hi Ladies,

Thank you so much for all your awesome comments! Yesterday was awesome, I took about a 3 1/2 hour nap when I got home and relaxed and my DH cooked an amazing dinner/cleaned up everything - as I watched FRIENDS and just relaxed (today I have to watch "the one with the embryos" because that's my favorite episode of all times) :) I think my dog knows something is up - she's been at my feet a little more and follows me around (which she doesn't usually do!) I think it's sweet!

Teresa - thanks for thread crashing, you've been with me since before I started Lupron - your prayers mean so much to me - I continue to pray for you every day! I told my DH yesterday how long you have to wait with your RE and he was shocked (oh the things we talk about on the way to the transfer!) He's been really cute - talking about how we would tell people etc. and while I don't want to get ahead of ourselves (as we've already had a BFN last year) it does keep my spirits up and keeps me thinking positive thoughts.

Yesterday at the doctors right before he did the transfer they gave me one of those bracelets (like the LiveStrong bracelets) that says "Positive Results" - I thought that was cute!

bei - thank you for the picture/nice thoughts! I loved it!
purpleFish - thank yoU :)
PMApsy - I'm glad there will be someone else going through the wait with me - we'll have to keep eachother occupied to take our minds off the wait! I like it this time better with less people knowing that we're going through this but it's hard because we have to make sure not to say anything about it to friends/family.
dcCunningmama - good luck with your DH / FET - the FET has been night/day from what my fresh cycle was - my body is so much happier and even today (and yesterday) - last time I had very sharp pains and I've had none of that this time (knocking on wood!) Good luck with whatever you decide!

Hope everyone has a great day -
Ashley

Had my appt this morning and the news wasn't so great. 6 follies, 5 on the left and only 1 on the right  I was hoping for at least a couple more to give us a better chance. I trigger tomorrow and do ER on Friday, I hope there is one hidden there somewhere or that they all have mature eggs :( will do personals later, have to do work, but it is hard right now!

Ashley-Lots of sticky baby dust coming your way. Good luck.

Rio-I hope everything turns out okay. It takes only one to stick.

Bei-Good luck on starting the Lupron.

I had my baseline u/s and everything went great. I start stim meds on Thursday and I am very excited. I hope everyone has a great week and all tests comeback excellent. Thinking of all of you and it is great not to be alone in this journey. Also, thank you for all the welcome to the "club"s.

Hi All,

Bei - Good luck with the ouchies!

McFarland - I'm with you on the trying not to tell anyone bit. It's not easy. We have decided as a couple not to say anything. DH's children from his first marriage are not going to take it well (esp. the girl) at first, so we thought we'd wait and see how it worked out rather than go through the trauma of it all with the kids (who are 18 and 20yo) and then not have it work out anyway. I have told a couple of my closest friends, one who did IVF herself unsuccessfully and another who is just such an awesome shoulder to cry on despite living in Japan and being half a world away. I wish now I hadn't told the friend who has been through it. She just keeps going on and on about it. Never has anything nice to say about it and is critical of every move I make, so I decided to tell her that we have stopped treatment due to complications and that I'd rather not talk about it.

Re: Horse riding - given that I hadn't actually thought that much about it until McFarland posted about exercise, I'll stay out of the saddle til the RE gives me the go ahead. It just hadn't even crossed my mind about not riding! LOL - I think I have a big reality check coming!

Cheers

Rio- I am sorry that you didn't have the follicles count that was high. Hopefully though all the ones they take will be high quality mature eggs. I will either do my er friday or sat, so we can enjoy the wait together, will you do a day 3 or 5 transfer?

bei - yay! I am sure you are really excited to get the pain party started  Seriously though I am thrilled that you are starting the cycle, I know you have been waiting for a while.

Terri - what stims will you be using?

I am headed back in tomorrow.. yes my RE is a little overboard about seeing me often, but it is easier to adjust medications with testing a little more often, then things can't get too far off of track. Hopefully things are growing well and I can trigger tomorrow.
