Wow! I am SO out of the loop! I haven't been getting my alerts again

I've had so much going on with the twins lately that I haven't had time to do anything else!! The fussiness we were experiencing from Joslyn turned to be an ear infection! Chaz also had one. Neither showed the typical signs other than the fussiness. Once they were on the antibiotics things cleared up pretty quickly and the pwincess was back to herself...short-lived though! The antibiotics led to diarrhea. At first this wasn't bad because she didn't seem bothered by it but then last week she developed a NASTY diaper rash! We're still dealing with it now. She STILL has diarrhea which is making it extremely hard to fight off the rash and we're having to clean her poor little raw bum so often that she spends most her time crying now :( . I spoke with our pediatrician and they said the diarrhea from the antibiotics should have left when she finished the meds so they are contributing it to a stomach virus and all we can do is wait for it to pass. Now, ask the average person and they tell you it's teething. Chaz also has loose stools but no rash and we're using ointments on him to prevent any. I don't know if it's teething or not, I just wish it would go away!! At this point I actually wouldn't mind just hte diarrhea if we could just get rid of this rash!

On another note, Chaz has been rolling to his stomach for 2 weeks now! He sleeps through the night on his stomach! We lay him on his back and he immediately rolls over. At first I wasn't really comfortable with it, but it was a losing battle and after the first couple nights of huvering over him, I'm ok with it now  . He's much more tolerant of tummy time now since he's putting himself on his tummy but sometimes he will cry immediately and other times he can hang out for 15 mins or so! I've only seen Jos roll over to her stomach once. I think she did it then just to show us she could if she wanted to...not to be out done by her brother  . Oh wait! She rolled over last night in her crib. I quickly put her back on her back though because her face was pressed into her mattress. I can't even remember why I went to check in on her in the first place but I was glad I did! She probably would have been fine, but you never know.

The pedi also told us to start solids at 6 months, but I walked by some rice cereal one day in the store and thought why not? lol Chaz is getting really good with eating with a spoon. I only give him about 1 tablespoon though and then finish with his normal bottle. Jos really isn't interested and we don't force her.

Tea, it appears that my boy is much more faster with the motor skills as well! He is just itching to walk! I swear he pushes and squirms to get off my lap sometimes as if he's going to get down and walk across the room :D .

Kelly, Chaz's head appears to be getting much better! His face even looks a little slimmer and different now. Glad we didn't have to do the helment :)

Wondercat, you have to link to a photo you have on the web somewhere. For instance using Photo Bucket. Then enter the html code to show the photo. ""

There were some other things you guys mentioned that I wanted to comment on but this is getting too long already :D . So until next time...

Ugh...It's been a long time since I posted. Things were really crazy for awhile. The twins were extremely fussy for awhile. I think we've tried all the formulas now and have settled on Nutramingen. Their fussiness was so bad that DH was yelling me it seemed 24/7. I had enough and took them to their pedi. They checked them both for ear infections and didn't have that. They just increased Ren's zantac dose and decided Piper must have reflux too. Since Ren's dose increased and Piper started zantac, life has been much better.

Ren weighs 11lbs now. He tries to roll over but hasn't figured it out yet. I'm just happy he's finally able to somewhat hold his head up. Piper is a little over 13lbs now. She has rolled over a couple times now and is trying to figure out how to crawl. She knows what to do with her legs but can't figure out how to get her arms to work. So, she ends up going around in circles. lol. We also got one of those jumperoo things. Piper loves it. She loves to jump up and down to make the music play.

Cynthia - Sorry we couldn't get together while you were here. That was in the middle of the craziness. Also I swear we had a tornado that night we were supposed to meet. About 5 minutes from my house, trailors were off their foundation and a shed at the house we use to own flew across the street.

Sorry, I can't do more personals but I am smelling poo and need to see who the culprit is. lol. Talk to everyone soon!

Aims, I understand! It was crazy trying to manage DH's CRAZY family! You'd think they'd be a little more cooperative seeing that it was most of their first times seeing the twins! But don't get me started . So we didn't have much free time either.

AFM, Jos FINALLY slept through the night again last night. Her diaper rash is about 85% better. Chaz on the other hand decided he wanted to hold a very loud conversation with himself at about 2:30 in the morning!! I think he took too many naps yesterday. Anyway, I'm just happy to have 2 semi-relaxed babies back again. Until the next obstacle comes along that is!

Hi Mommies!!!!

I finally found some time to write! Things have been so hectic I dont have time to get on anymore!

Aims- I'm glad you finally found the right formula. My DD was on alimentum (which is same as nutramigen just diff brand) until recently, I just switched her back do advntaced similac and so far so good. She was on it because of the fussines and trouble with pooping but i figuered her intestines probably matured so i tried and switched and things are ok. One tip for you if you dont know, you can get this formula covered by your insurance at least i did. If they have a medical condition in which your case they do (reflux) you should be able to get it covered. just call your insurance and they will tell you if it is.

cynthia- OMG your twins are cute!!! your boy looks like my dd lol with his fists stuffed in his mouth mine does it too! she sucks on them so hard its soo funny! Sorry your been dealing with all those issues, I've been lucky that my dd hasnt been sick as of yet (knock on wood) and no diaper rashes either thank god it sounds like hell!

so my daugther still wakes up around 3-4am for a bottle!!! I'm so jeaolous of you guys getting sleep all night! urghhhhh she does go to sleep early around 7-7.30 but i would hope that by now she would sleep little longer :) lol She holds her head up straight now, it doesnt wabble anymore, she loves to sit and cries when i lay her down. She's not rolling over yet she tried it once and got half way and that was it lol she lovves her gym mat, talk alot and laughs she's just a joy! Question for yall how many naps your babies take during the day and for how long? just curious my dd doesnt nap very well maybe once or twice for 2-3hrs total.

anyway, i set up a photobucket account so we can post pictures of our lil ones. I'm not comfortable posting my dd pics here so i figuered i'll start something. If anyone is intersted uploading their let me know and i'll email the log in and pass. its really easy and for those of us who dont want our babies pics on here can upload there.

how is everyone else doing? has anyone heard from ianmichaels?

ohh i am also starting to gear up for my FET start lupron may 14th, its getting so close!!!!

ok g2g talk to you all soon!

dys - Thanks for the tip on the insurance. I had heard that they will pay for it under certain circumstances. I haven't tried it yet though. Right, we're getting help through wic on the formula. We meet the income requirement because I'm the only one working full time. We qualify for 22 of the smaller cans a month. Only downfall is I have to get enfamil products and I like similac better but I'm not going to complain. This program is really helping us out.

Next week, the twins have their 6 month appointment. I'm so excited to start food with them. Piper is so ready. She's trying to eat my food. lol. I caved a couple days ago and gave her a little bit of applesauce. She loved it and followed the spoon around with her mouth open. Once I get the official ok from their doc, I'm going to try the cereal and try more veggies first. I tend to pick the fruits cause I'm not a veggie person, but I'll try to be good with the twins. lol

Ianmichaels is doing good. her daughter is adorable. She is one of my friends on facebook. I don't talk to her much but last time I did, she was really busy.

Well, I must go to bed. I'm up way too late and have to get up at 4am. Talk to everyone soon!

Hey Everyone! Haven't been gettig my notices...again! I guess I need to just check back and not wait on an email notice.
Gabbi is doing great. I started feeding her rice cereal at 4 months, she liked it pretty good, but it just didn't fill her up any. She's now 5 months and 1 week old, so I began trying to feed her the Gerber 1st foods. Sometimes she eats them, sometimes she don't. When she does eat, she's full for a good 5-6 hours, which is great. Milk isn't really filling her up anymore, she wants to eat all day long. I know she needs to eat the Gerber food, but some days she just doesn't want it, she wants her bottle! So, who knows. I asked my friends on facebook and they all said they started feeding thier babies around 2-5 months.
We're planning a trip to the beach May 16-21. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. She needs so many things, I'm going to be bringing everything but the kitchen sink with me! Anyone traveled far with thier baby yet? Any advice? I've already bought her 2 swimsuits, sunglasses, a beach hat, and a beach chair! :D
I'm glad everyone is doing great and all the babies are happy and healthy...I would write more, but Gabbi is telling me it's time for another bottle!!

Hi Ladies,

Faith will be 5 months old next week. I can't wait to give her the rice cereal, but her pedi suggests to wait until she is 6 months old :-(

She is eating 8 ounces of milk and it doesn't fill her up at all. I am going to give her the rice cereal from next week anyway!!

How is everybody making your babies sleep? I usually rock her in my arms and walk for a few minutes and when she closes her eyes, I put her in her crib. These days she is getting heavy, so I am not able to carry her in my arms for a long time. I tried to rock her while sitting, she wouldn't sleep. Any ideas to save me from the walking? :-)

Faith also has eczema in 4 or 5 spots in her legs and arms. Her pedi asked me to apply aquaphor. I think its going away. Other than that, she is doing fine.

Oh my goodness Tara! Faith is ADORABLE!

As far as sleeping, I use to rock the twins or put them in their swing until they fell asleep. But then I started to put them in their cribs when they showed the first sign of being sleepy. We've made betime between 7:00 - 8:00. Before they fall completely alseep we put them in their cribs and they've been falling asleep on their own lately. The first few times they may fuss for a few minutes but if you stay consistant they learn the routine pretty quickly! I'm not even sure how long it takes them to actually fall asleep because I immediately leave the room now. They have their crib mirror that they play with and also a little blankie (one of the tiny square blankies with the stuffed animal heads on them). I assume they play with those until drifting off to sleep.

The twins had their 6 month doctor visit today. Piper weighs 14.1 lbs and Ren is 12lbs. I got the ok to start cereal and baby food for Piper but to hold off with Ren for awhile because of his low weight. I don't know about the rest of you but my family has been telling me to start with veggies first but my pedi told me the opposite. He told me to start with pears, bananas, and applesauce. I've actually started giving Piper a little bit of baby food a couple weeks ago, and applesauce made her face turn red. So, I'm holding off on that one for awhile. Tonight I made some rice cereal mixed with pears and she loved it. So, if you're having a hard time feeding the cereal, mix it with some fruit.

Sorry I can't do any personals. I need to finish up some school stuff so I can start my summer break!

Ladies,

I think most of you would have started rice cereal for your babies by now. I started rice cereal for DD from yesterday. I mixed it according to the instructions and tried to feed her in a spoon, but she wouldn't take it. I tried 3 or 4 times, but I guess she doesn't know how to swollow it when placed in her mouth. What should I do? Does this mean she is not ready for rice cereal yet? May be I should keep trying?

Tara: As far as sleeping, I have never ever rocked Gabriella to sleep since she was born. My mother warned me not to start it and to let her just fall asleep on her own. My mother said once to start it, you may not be able to stop it. So when I put her down at night, she usually puts herself to sleep within minutes and I don't have to rock her or anything. My mother-in-law was so mad that I didn't buy a rocking chair for Gabbi to rock her in, but I never needed it. Because I never rocked her, she has always just fallen alseep on her own. By the way, Faith is CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!
I've been trying to feed Gabbi some 1st foods..but she usually doesn't want anymore than 4 or 5 spoonfulls then she wants her bottle. She's not real good at eatting with a spoon yet. I have been giving her 2 ounces of apple juice a day too, just as a treat.
By the way, Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!!!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone! I'll be spending my Mother's Day with DH in the hospital. He has a kidney stone and went to the ER last thursday night and was back in the ER Friday night then admitted. He's probably going to have surgery today to remove the stone. I hope everyone has a good day and I'll write again soon.

Tara - I knew when Piper was ready for food when she started grabbing for my food. She will only eat the cereal if mixed with fruit and sometimes she eats it all and sometimes she just wants a couple bites.

Hello everyone!!!

I really do admire you all for being able to come on and chat about your experiences. Ever since I had my twins, I have been running around nonstop!Every night I tell myself I will go online and check these boards, and every night I end up doing something else like laundry, cleaning, etc. But I certainly can't complain. My twins are absolutely wonderful... healthy, playful, and just amazing! lol. They do have their moments as most babies do, but overall they are good babies! They are 3.5 months now!

Quick question I had for those of you whose babies LOOOOVE pacifiers... I am beginning to get a little worried. I was planning on throwing out the pacies at around 5-6 months, but I dont know if my boy can handle it! He really relies on it during the day and at night. Any suggestions on how to deal with this? Should I just stop giving it to them now? I feel they are already depending on it too much! Oh and I'm sorry in advance if this question has been asked before... I will go back and read all the posts to catch up.

Thanks!!
