Rio - I don't actually know that they are mature eggs yet, but that is the Dr's best guess with the size of the follicles. I guess there is a possibility that they aren't, but he seems confident in this. My twins were conceived through IUI, but it was my fourth IUI (we had also done clomid with timed intercourse 2 cycles before that). After one failed IUI this time I asked if I could try IVF. Between my IUI cycles I had cysts and the whole process took 7 months and I just wanted something not so drawn out. Good Luck tomorrow! I am excited and nervous!

I know a few of you are having ET's tomorrow and I wanted to wish you all the luck and sticky baby dust I can!!! Also, if you ever need someone to chat with, I'm just chillin' with my 2ww over here - trying to keep myself pre-occupied! :)

My RE told me 24 hours of nothing (so only getting up to eat/go to the bathroom) but the day after my transfer the nurse said I can be completely back to normal (but she said, be smart - no jumping around or doing anything crazy) but that I should just do what I normally do so I've been walking around the block and such with my DH and dog every morning and doing odds/ends around the house - not lifting much just to be safe but last time I didn't do anything for a few days and my stomach hurt/my body ached and then I got a BFN so I think it's whatever works for you...I don't think anyone really knows exactly what will make it work and what won't (or we'd all have BFP's every time!) :)

Good luck to everyone tomorrow that has transfers!!!
me - 30 / 2009 - both tubes removed / DH - 31, perfect

Hey All,

I'm with McFarland cheering on all having ETs in the next few days!

I'm having what I think is a minor emotional breakdown today. Not sure if I can blame it on the drugs (started Puregon last night) or not but I'm feeling like I'm on the verge of tears most of the time today. I've developed this horrid rash and have no idea if is IVF drug related or not and the clinic isn't answering any of it's phone numbers and I can't get in to see my GP til Monday. :(

I know I've been MIA lately, but good luck on the ERs tomorrow! Lots of prayers and positive thoughts being sent out! I can't wait to hear how everything goes :)

I've been reading and following all of you ladies, just haven't quite figured out the best time to sit and do all the replies :) I browse this on my iPhone, which is not the best tool for typing long responses. I did want to say though that I was on metformin when I was first diagnosed PCOS...don't think it really didn't anything for me so they took me off. From what I know it just helps to control blood sugar levels.

As for me...provera should FINALLY start on Wednesday and we will be moving from there...still looking at ER on about 6/3. I finally told my boss today (I've been avoiding it because she isn't the most approachable person) and she was super supportive, really suprised me, even hugged me! It feels great to not have to hide this from her :) Can't wait to be a 2ww-er :)

I can't believe how busy this board has gotten lately...it's great to hear that we are all finally moving forward! Good luck to all of you :)

Thanks for all the support everyone, you ladies are amazing! I am really starting to freak out tonight. I know the retrieval shouldn't be a big deal, but I am nervous about the anesthesia and I also think that giant trigger shot is making me a bit more emotional than normal. I will be really relieved when tomorrow is over with.

HUGS - Purplefish! Hope all goes well! :D

Edited to add - DH made me cry last night. Not because he was mean but because he can be such a sweetie! He's been pretty quiet about the whole IVF thing. It's always me who brings it up in discussion etc. and I know this is because he feels responsible for me having to go through this because he had the vasectomy. I certainly don't feel this way at all and there's no animosity about it from me. Anyway, I'd mentioned I was a bit excited and nervous about starting the Puregon because that felt to me like the first real step toward having a baby. He was doing something around 7.30 when I had planned to do the injection and synarel and he said "Hey, I want to watch you do the Synarel" I said fine though curious as to why, I did the injection and then went out to the kitchen and let him watch. Weird, but I'm OK with that. Then he said "OK, now I'll help you with the needle" I told him I'd already done it because he sees me inject all the time as I'm type 1 diabetic and he got all huffy. On questioning him why, he said,"Well I can't be there really when we conceive this baby, so I want to be there every other step of the way!" I thought at that moment, it was the sweetest thing he could have said and just burst into tears! Just thought I had to share that!

Good morning everyone!

Image

It's great to chat with you this morning ladies!

Carolyn,
THANKS sweetie for crashing the thread! :D :D :D It's so lovely to read you just before FET! How are you doing, are the boys treating you well? Are they still only waking up once a night? You're a real trooper, you know that, twin mama! :D *HUGS*

kiz,
aaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww DH is such a sweetheart!!!! I'm really happy that he made you feel so warm and fuzzy inside after having such an emotional day with the crying and so on.. :D GOOD CALL, HUBBY-BUBBY! Sometimes we wish they wouldn't be such an annoyance, but most of the time, they make all the difference in the world... in a good way! Is the rash a little bit better this morning by any chance? And booooooo for the clinic; they should be more available than that!!!! Sheeeeesh!

rypell,
hi sweetie! :D It's great to hear from you, how are you doing these days?such a touching story about your boss, I'm so glad that you could have a great response from her! I remember when I started my first IVF, I told my boss of the time... to realize that he was also going through his first IVF with his wife!!!! Juuuust a month ahead of me! He and his wife were very supportive, it was great.

bei,
you're doing such a great job with the list hunny, but I feel like it doesn't allow you to say much about yourself. How are you doing? Have any exciting plans for the weekend?

mcfarland,
joining you tomorrow morning for the 2ww, sooooo excited to share that with you! :D I agree with your comment completely. Anything planned for the weekend?

rio,
so sweetie, how did ER go? When will you hear about the fert rate? Ooooooh I can't wait, I hope everything goes well my sweet! :D

purplefish,
oh hunny, it's perfectly normal to be scared before your first ER. I sure was, you know! I was lucky because my boss' wife had hers a couple of months before and she told me all about the procedure. Honestly, the worst part is the anaesthesia. At my clinic, it's local, so they have to inject the anaesthetic into the vagina walls. It really pinches, like when you go to the dentist and have a cavity repair done. But seriously, it lasts about 1 minute, they do hurry. After that, you don't feel pain when they poke your ovaries. It,s like feeling a finger poke something inside. And the nurse is there with you on one side, and hubby on the other side, and everyone is very supportive. Afterwards, because your ovaries bleed a little bit from the intervention, you'll notice that your back and lower pelvic area might hurt. DO TAKE tylenol every 4 hours, it really helps, along with a warm water bottle and watching TV to keep your mind off it. Your peritoneum, the membrane that covers all the inside of your abdomen, is very sensitive, and blood irritates it. Hence why you feel pain for a few days after ER. Well, more like very annoying soreness. My yoga teacher told me she used a particular pose for the days after ER... just lie on your back with your calves and feet resting on a chair. Support your head so your chin is slightly tilted towards your sternum (not jammed down). Put your hands on the floor on each side of your hips, palms up, and pay attention to your breathing without forcing anything. If possible, breathe into your pelvic area. Keep the pose for as long as you like. She said it helped her bit time.

AFM, excited to have FET tomorrow, but also dreading the hubby-bubby quarantine. When Estrace is bumped to 3mg two times a day, it really makes a difference on how I feel. I really know what men go through right now, my senses are just so sharp... I look around in the train, subway, on the street, and I can tell you I spot the handsome and virile men around me. The slightest touch makes me shiver... to think that I'll have to pile up all that longing for 2-4 weeks at least without any relief. Boys, you have all my sympathy!!!! ;) Maybe I could take the month off and spend it in a convent?

BUT other than that, I feel great! My sister will arrive at the end of the afternoon and I'm super excited to see her. She's arriving before the rest of the family so she can babysit DS tomorrow morning during ET. It's also great because we'll spend quality time together, and she loves cooking and is very excited to help me decorate my two fondant cakes for tomorrow. We'll do the whole job tonight (the cakes are chilling in the fridge right now) and she'll get to see how I make buttercream and fondant. She draws very well, so if one day my catering business soars, I'll definitely use her help for the fancier designs such as airbrushing. Having a business with her would be amazing, but right now we're rather aiming at being a psychologist (me) and doing a bachelor,s degree in communication and political sciences (her)! We'll have a great weekend; my family will arrive tomorrow for lunch, we'll order pizza, and then if I feel ok about it we'll take the car and drive around to find a nice spot for my sister's apartment (she'll start in september). In the evening we'll celebrate DS's bday with his "drum" cake. On Sunday, we'll have breakfast and chill, then lunch at a restaurant downtown and spend time in the beaux-arts museum. My sister,s help will be gold, beacuse through all that I have to cook our meals for the rest of the week! eeeek!

Okay, hugs and kisses to y'all, and...

Hi everyone! Just a quick update, I will try to do personals tonight. The ER went well, it was quick and easy, I was asleep before I knew what hit me. I actually feel pretty good now, just some minor cramps, but no worse than AF and a little tired still. So they retrieved 8 eggs that are good enough to fertilize, I am happy it is a reasonable number and we should be able to get 1-2 good ones from the batch. Tomorrow they will call and let me know how many fertilized. Thanks for all the good wishes!

3 Day Transfer:

1dpt... Embryo is growing and developing
2dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst
3dpt... Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
4dpt... Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
5dpt... Implantation begins,as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining
6dpt... Implantation process continues and morula buries deeper in the lining
7dpt... Morula is completely inmplanted in the lining and has placenta cells &
fetal cells
8dpt... Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood
9dpt... More HCG is produced as fetus develops
10dpt... More HCG is produced as fetus develops
11dpt... HCG levels are now high enough to be immediately detected on HPT

5 Day Transfer (if your transfer is done on the 6th day please adjust according to the timeline based upon how the embryo was doing by 1-2 days {e.g. blastocyst was hatching from the shell}):

-1dpt... Embryo is growing and developing
0dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst
1dpt... Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
2dpt... Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
3dpt... Implantation begins,as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining

PMApsy - good luck tomorrow morning - I’m going to say a prayer tonight & tomorrow morning just for you!!! Sending sticky dust! You will do great! Love that you talk about your sister because my sister is coming down tomorrow and bringing me my favorite bagel sandwich and spending some time with me before I kickoff my Thirty-One gifts business - I know, I’m crazy for starting a business in the middle of all of this but it’s really kept my mind off things & kept me entertained. She lives about 2 hours away and is coming down a few hours before everyone so we get to spend some quality time together too. For mother’s day we’re spending it with my hubby’s family…we already spent last weekend with mine to celebrate so I like only have one family to do for holidays (*and not having to rush back/forth for everything!) I like your little ticker about frosties coming home - that’s really cute!

Bei - Last time I did IVF I didn’t do an home pregnancy test but this time I don’t think I can wait that long - I feel so much better than last time (not sure if that’s a good sign or not) - it’s kind of driving me crazy not knowing if it worked or not. My tummy feels a bit different but I’ve had no pain or cramping or anything…last time I had A LOT of cramping (I just found my journal from last time and I was a mess) - this time I feel completely normal!

My DH was so cute last night - he goes “I don’t want to get my hopes up this time - last time I got them up so high and it didn’t work” and I said “well have them up at least a little bit - do it for our embryos!” I know he meant well but until they tell me it didn’t work, I’m going to live with the fantasy that it will work and we WILL be parents in 9 months or so! (Here’s hoping!)

Hope everyone has a great weekend - I’m super busy so probably won’t be on much but I’ll catch back up on Sunday night if possible!!

Baby dust alll around ladies - I'm ready for this thread to have lots of BFP's!!!!

First FET - May '10 - BFN

PMApsy - good luck tomorrow, I am hoping good things for you! Lots of sticky thought will be headed your way tomorrow morning. It sounds like it is going to be a great weekend for you all around!

mcfarland - I am hoping good things for you! Will a hpt work (did you do a trigger shot)? I hope you are the first BFP for us!

kizmet - the story about your husband is so sweet.

bei - thanks for all your awesome, supportive graphical posts=) I hope the metforming is going well!

rio - I hope things went well today.

Tomorrow I will see how many of my little guys fertilized. I also had to laugh, the anesthesiologist told my husband they had to use a lot of drugs to sedated me, more than enough for someone twice my size. They actually used up all the drugs they brought for the procedure :)
