On my first IVF cycle I got pregnant, but within a week lost it. I have 7 people around me that are pregnant and I want to be the 8th person I know. I am really struggling with deciding to transfer one or two embryos and could use some thoughts on the matter. I am 34 years old, had a 5 day fresh transfer. After my transfer they were still watching a few embryos, but we were not sure if they would be good enough to freeze or not. I received a call that they were good enough to go to the freezing stage. When I had my fresh transfer I only had a 40% chance of bringing home a baby, but now it is 40-50% for one or 50-60% for two and a chance for twins at 25%. At first I was confused on why my chances had gone up and that is when he told me that the two they were watching really blossomed and would increase my chances. Of course there is always a chance of losing them at the thawing process, but there is only a 5 % chance of that happening.
Anyway, any thoughts on one or two would be appreciated. I have three embryos left.
I would do 2 if you are ok with having twins. I think we go through a lot and we want to maximize our chances. First IVF we transfered 4 and one took and we have a healthy baby boy!

If you are comfortable with multiples and its possible complications go for 2. If not go for 1. Plenty of people get pregnant with one (I did and have a beautiful baby boy). Really think about the possible outcomes. If you did not get pregnant after transferring 1 would you regret not transferring 2?
Me - 32 DH - 37
IVF 1: BFN IVF 2: BFP!
Freddie was born at 14.09 on 29/03/10 at 8lb 14oz.
My Dr. decided that she was going to transfer two in my first IVF try and Thank God, it all worked out well. I am 8 weeks pregnant with twins and somehow already showing. Seems like everybody at worked already noticed I am pregnant.
I started going for accupuncture two weeks before the transfer, and I am still going once a week. I will keep going until my 4th month.. It just relaxes me and gives me peace of mind.
Good luck and God Bless.

I transferred 2 on my first IVF. I'm young and these would be our firsts and we were not afraid of twins. Well, I lost my twins after complications at 22 weeks (very suddenly). Since then, I have transferred one.
Then again.... I'm waiting for my 5th transfer, and this time we are really really tempted to transfer two....
So no answers, just some more information to consider.
