Lisa,
Sounds like your trip to Disney World was great. And glad to hear the baby is doing well after your scary ride. Its good you got to go on your trip and spend some fun time with your older kids before the baby comes.

Iamhopeful,
And octupus inside you - that just cracked me up. :) Glad to hear your echo cardiogram was good. I am just waiting for the third trimester to begin. :) How old are your daughters?

Its been pretty quiet around here. I am sure that means everybody is doing well.

AFM, we had another ultrasound last week because the baby would not turn out around for the technician to see a couple of things with the first one. It was fun to see him again and the OB was able to get all the pictures they wanted. I am gaining a lot of weight!! DH doesnt want me to worry about the weight gain and I am not worried but I have always been borderline underweight and never put on weight despite what I eat so I am really surprised with how fast I am putting on the pounds. I had my diabetes test last week and have not heard from the doc yet - crossing my fingers that its all good. :)

Hi Mo and all you other July Mommies!

We are finally getting some warm sunny weather around here and I am so excited for Spring to arrive. I actually purchased a stroller in anticipation of long walks with our new little girl this summer. It was my first big purchase for the baby I have waited so long for. It was exciting, with a small amount of hesitation that maybe it is still too early to believe this is all actually going to happen. I think we can all relate to that feeling. But we should all continue to think postive thoughts :D

Mo, my girls are 14, 11 and 10. Mostly they are upset that this was not fully discussed with them first. But my husband and I had no idea if this would actually happen and had many failed attemps and several early M/C. I saw no reason to drag my girls along on this emotional roller coaster until we felt confident that this was the miricle we had been waiting for. They are also a little worried about what this will mean for them....will they have to share a room now, be expected to babysit all the time, have to give up things they have grown acustom to, (because babies are expensive). The baby will cry all night, every night and they will not be able to sleep. I hate to say it, but it makes me mad that they sound so selffish. BUT...they are not that way, and I am hoping it is just the inital shock and once the baby arrives they will feel differently. They are already talking about names, and want to see the sono pics and have even asked if they can feel the baby move. So I am sure things will turn out fine in the end. I am glad we have the kind of relationship that they felt comfortable telling me how they felt and that we were able to talk things through. I hope that communication line is always open.

What did you hear back from your GD tests? everything okay?

What about you other ladies....what is going on with you?

Iamhopeful,
Once the baby is here and they see how cute the baby is, I am sure your daughters will want to play with her/dress her up etc. You seem to have a great relationship with your daughters - it takes a lot of work, I am sure. I know what you mean by hesitating before buying. I happened to go to 'Babies R Us' last week with my sister who needed something for my nephew and I was so tempted to buy something but couldnt make myself do it.

MY GD test was good - no diabetes, thankfully. But, it turns out I am anemic now. I was not anemic just before the pregnancy so I dont know what happenned. I am supposed to start taking iron supplements.

Sarah,
Congrats to your DH for his Gold medal!! Thats wonderful. Enjoy your trip. I just travelled this week and it was really not that bad at all. And have fun with all your showers.

Mo, I was anemic two months ago and I ate red meat and spinich about every other day and took iron supplements. Now I am not anemic. Make sure you get the slow release iron supplements...that way you dont have any constipation.

Sarah,
Thanks for the tips! I got the slow FE kind of supplement too. I have been stuffing myself with spinach, LOL! I would make Popeye proud. But, unfortunately, I dont eat red meat so I cannot get any of the iron that your body absorbs easily.

Have a good trip and let us know how your showers go!

Hello all,

Just a quick update to let you know I am not happy to report that we have a July Baby Delivery! Sophia Jane entered this world, via emergency - C Section on April 13th at 6:28PM, 28 weeks gestation, 2lbs 2oz, 14 inches long. To hear her cry when they pulled her out was the best sound I could ever have hoped for. She is in the NICU, but breathing room air. She has a nasal cannal which is pushing the room air just to give her some assistance.

I had a routine appointment on Monday April 12th and a sonogram showed my amniotic fluid levels to be extremly low, (2 out of a possible 15). I was addmitted to the hosiptal and given 24 hours of IV Fluids to try to correct the issue. Another sono on Tuesday showed no sign of improvement. I was told I would be staying until the baby was delivered which they hoped would be 6 weeks away. Early that evening the baby's heart rate showed some distress and the patterned continued. AT 5:50PM the decision was made to deliver as they could help her more outside of me. A VERY short time later my daughter was born. It all happened so fast, we were extremly scared. She is doing remarkably well all things considered.

I was released on Friday and she will be staying for atleast 8-10 weeks maybe longer.

Please say a prayer for little Sophia.

Iamhopeful-
Congratulations on the birth of your daughter Sophia Jane! What a beautiful name and I am sure she is beautiful. So sorry to hear about your ordeal, but I am confident that Sophia is a fighter and will be home soon. Just a quick story to hopefully give you some strength and encouragement...my girlfriend's water broke when she was 25 weeks and Hannah Rose was born very quickly. She weighed under 2 pounds. Now Hannah is a healthy, active, gorgeous 2 year old. She is meeting all developmental milestones and is bigger then some 2 year olds. Be strong and stay positive. We are all here for you in spirit and prayer. Keep us posted. xoxo

Julie-I will pray for baby Sophia and you often. Im so sorry you had to go through that. Im so glad to hear that she is doing well and making progress. Good luck my dear!!

AFM-I had a nice little visit to the ER yesterday. I been having cramps for the past two weeks and they got pretty severe the last few days. I called my doctor about it, and she said I needed to come in. I didnt want to drive two hours, bo so she said I could go to the ER up here. They hooked my up to the monitor and said everything looked good with baby and there were no contractions. It took him FOUR TRIES to check my cervix and it was not dilated. Oh my that was painful! The doc said it was posterior so it was hard to get to. I told him that he could skip that part! So, they couldnt really explain what was going on with the cramping just that it happens sometimes. Im just glad everything is okay.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying watching their belly's grow!!!

Julie/Iamhopeful,
Congrats, firstly. Very happy to hear that Sophia is doing well and I will keep you and her in my prayers. Do keep us updated on her progress which I am sure will be fast.

Sarah,
Sorry to hear about your cramping! But its good they checked you out and found nothing wrong. That cervix examination is really painful, isnt it?! I had to go to the ER a few weeks ago because I was throwing up water from a stomach bug and gosh, that cervix exam was far more painful than I would have imagined. How was your baby shower btw?

AFM, Had a nasty cold/sinus infection for over 2 weeks that I was given antibiotics for but I didnt take them, LOL. I started getting a little better by the time I got the pills and wanted to give it a couple of days before starting the antibiotics. Other than that, anybody else having pelvic pain/pressure when turning in bed or getting up out of bed?

Mo-glad to hear your infection went away on it's own! Im anti meds while preggo too. I have all kinds of pelvic pressure, pains and cramping. I can barely make it through a shower without cringing with cramping and backaches. And forget about gerocery shopping! THe OB just tells me to take it easy.

Julie-keep us updated! I hope you and Sophia are doing well!

AFM-The showers went wonderfully! Im so blessed...my baby girl has everything she needs and more. I returned a ton of clothes and repeat gifts so now I have a $400 store credit to target too. That will cover diapers for a while!
Unfortunately, I have had yeast infection for 3 weeks now. I tried monostat 2, diflucan, steriod cream and now Im using an anti-fungal cream. This absolutely sux!! Im going to the OB tomorrow to see if it is clearing up. Im feeling better, but my vajaja is still sore.

Hello all of my July buddies! How is everyone doing, seems to be so quite on this thread? Please post and let me know! I am checking in periodically.

Just an update on Sophia, she is 33 gestational weeks today..and a little over a month old...(can't wait to just count one age). She is up to 3lbs, 6oz...so over a 1lb gain since birth! She is filling out nicely:) Still has the nasal canal, and we have slowly weaned the flow down to 1..hoping to have those prongs out of her nose in the next week. That will allow us to see her beautiful face a bit better, plus she hates that thing and constantly tries to pull it out.

Had her first tub bath this past week, (with the nurses assistance), it was pretty hectic and I am hoping with more practice it will become more comfortable for both of us. Tried a bottle for the first time yesterday, (she still has her feeding tube in her nose) but she did get 8ML out of her 32ml feeding down via the bottle...the suck, swallow, breath thing is pretty complicated and we did have several breathing issues during the feeding, so we are moving slowly..but we have time.

The breathing issues seem to be the most difficult thing we are dealing with, it is hard to watch the respitory rate on the monitors drop followed by the plunging heart rate, which trigger the loud alarm and send the nurses running over. Most of the time Sophia can recover on her own quickly. Other times she just needs a firm pat to reminder her that breathing is essential. The doctors assure us this is normal for her size/age and as she grows, this will go away....we certainly hope so.

So my days are spent at the NICU, we are now allowed to hold her twice a day, outside of that I assist with things like, taking her temp, changing her diapers and reading her stories. Cannot wait to bring her home...still not sure when that will be. She is doing great and we are super proud (and thankful).

Julie-Thanks for the update. Im so happy to hear that little Sophia is doing well. Im still praying for you and her. Gosh, I think of everything you went through to get pregnant and now you are doing everything in your power to keep her growing big and strong. You are an amazing woman! Sophia is so lucky to have such a loving mommy!

AFM-Im still on modified bedrest because of the two episodes of contractions and cramping. I continue to get cramps and backaches any time i walk farther than 20 ft., shower, sweep the floor, etc. My DH just got back from Serbia after being gone for 2 1/2 weeks, so it will be easier to rest and I wont be as bored. He was fundraising for next ski season. Unfortunately he didnt come back with much $ :( So, we will figure out a way to make ends meet with my income last til August. Then we have to worry about Sept-Nov.

I hope you all are doing well! Keep us posted....I can't believe we are going to have more birth announcements popping up soon (but not too soon)!

Julie,
Good to hear from you and that Sophia is doing good. It sounds like she is making great progress and is in good hands. I will pray that her breathing issues resolve quickly and you can have the device removed. Do keep us updated!

Sarah, I didnt realise you were on any kind of bed rest. Hope you are taking good care of yourself and your little one. Don't stress about your DH's fund raising - I am sure you will figure something out. I know its easier to say 'dont stress' than actually doing it.

How is everybody else doing? Any updates?

AFM, I am doing allright except for the discomfort factor and the pelvic pain at night. And I am always exhausted! On a happier note, I had a couple of baby showers and have gotten some nice useful things even though I told people to not get any gifts. My sister was visiting over the weekend and brought a suitcase full of baby stuff that my nephew used. And I have a couple of co-workers who want to get rid of baby gear since their babies have out-grown the stuff so I am holding out on buying anything new for now. But, I am itching to go and buy!! :)

DH and I were asked to share our story with a TV series called "The Fertility Chase". It is a two part special on couples who face fertility issues and what steps they take to fulfill their dreams of starting a family. The first part airs on WE TV this Saturday at 8:30 a.m. EST/6:30 a.m. MST and the second part will air next Saturday. I think we will be aired on next Saturday.

However, if you don't get WE TV or are not awake at the crack of dawn, you can view our video clip on their website. Go to the www.thefertilitychase.com, click "VIDEOS" at the top, scroll down to the 2nd row of videos and you will see Jasmin's picture and the title "Male Infertility - Spinal Cord Injury". Click the words and the video will play. There also a lot of other neat stories on their. Another forum friend, Sancap is on there as well, but I dont know which video is hers.
