Caffine Question

Post by Guest »

Hi Girls

Just wanted to get this caffine business straight in my head......

Can I drink decaf coffee/tea?

Do I avoid chocolate?

Anything else I should be taking/not taking?

Finally, are there any further vitamins I should take as well as folic acid?

Thanks

Hi Jen,

I don't like tea/coffee so I can't answer that one because I didn't drink it anyway. I did eat choccie throughout my tmt but not alot. I was taking Folic Acid but I was also advised by my clinic to take baby aspirin but this is different clinics.

Good Luck.

Hi Jen, how goes it? When I first started trying, ala natural, I used to drink 5-6 cups of coffee a day. After a while I limited it to 2. Then 1 (just couldn't cut that last one out), then this last cycle I only drank decaf coffee and tea, but still ate chocolate. I did get +ve, but as you know... I really don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I've heard 2 cups a day is OK. I figure it can't hurt to try and cut down... but I reckon that cutting out everything altogether would just end up with me being even more p***ed off and annoyed at this whole thing than I already am, and I figure with everything I have to go through, I can have a cup of bl**dy decaf tea in the morning if I feel like it. I guess I feel like you have to draw the line somewhere about what you're willing to put up with. Probably not very helpful, just how I feel. Take care, Jaye.

Hi Jen,
My clinic have said that 1-2 cups of normal tea is ok, as long as thats it. I think I am cutting caffine out though just because it makes me more thirsty. I'm not a great fan of decaf tea (it's just not the same!!), but I have found a really nice herbal one called Red Bush tea which you can add milk to...
With regard to vitamins I am taking pregnancy multivitamins as they don't contain ones not allowed + have the folic acid added in them, but then I get colds and have always relied on those vits!! I've been told not to take anything else apart from those...
Good Luck!

Hi Jen,

I drink three large Latte's a week. (It's a work thing!)
My clinic said that was fine and I didn't have to cut them out.
I have stopped them though because I figure if I do get a -ive then I don't want to blame the lattes. I am at stims on first IVF cycle.

I have also cut out chocolate, but if I am honest with myself I did sneak a kiddy size milkyway on Tuesday! :o My clinic never mentioned cutting out chocolate. It was alright in moderation.

I am only taking folic acid.
Hope this helps,

HI there

Just to say that I went onto decaf tea and coffee and avoided chocolate throughout my treatment - quite religiously but once I had my +ive I relaxed a bit more. I have chocolate a bit more and caffine when out, but still decaf at home

Hope that helps

Hi,
I've given up tea and coffee from feb but for the last 3 weeks have had one cup of tea a week.

Chocolate I went off for lent but have a couple of bars a week now.
I take folic acid

No alcohol. I think everyone finds their balance.
