How are my fellow twin mommies feeling? I'm doing well if you...putting aside horrible sleep pattern, leg/foot aches and occassional heart burn. hehehe. But it'll all be worth it! My next OB appt is tommorrow. So exicted to see my little babies and how they have grown. Can't believe I"m almost at 17 weeks! woo whoo. Almost halfway there (to 36 wk goal!). I'm hoping to start feeling them move really soon. I think it'll help get me even more mentally prepared for their arrival.

I've been told by some experienced twin mommies to start planning and getting the things needed as much as I can by week 24...incase bedrest is in the furture. That way you don't have to stress about not being ready if that happens. Have any of you started to investigate which stroller and car seat is best to use for twins? I have a neighbor with twin boys and they told me that a car seat/stroller duo called "snap and go" is perfect for babies...especially twins. You don't have to take them out of their car seat to put them in a stroller. You just remove the car seat from it's base and it snaps into the stroller frame. I looked it up. Seems really practical for when they are really young. But know I'll need a separate real twin stroller at some point...so wondering if it is worth even starting with the snap and go. Anyone put any thought into this?

Karen - Yes! I have thought about the stollers and all of it. lol If you go to my registry at babiesrus.com, you will see what I chose. I chose a side by side stroller and the car seats that match and attach to the stroller. This way we can use the stroller all throughtout the baby's development. The side by side also allows a full recline which I like. I also have a small registry at wallmart.com. There I found a twin bassinett/pack 'n play. Oh.. also I love the babies r us 3 in 1 bassinets! With having two levels in this house, those will come in handy when changing the twins and lifting them out and taking them to the living area or what have you. It goes from bassinet to moses basket to changing table as well as has storage underneath AND pockets on the side that store diapers, lotions, powders, ect. Once we find out genders, we will add even more to the registry. So far the only thing we bought is one crib. Most people start with the little things first, but we need to make sure we have the big important stuff first. Having twins wasn't in the original budget and now that I am also nearing that halfway mark, I feel rushed. I know bed rest is in the future so the registry reall helps to be a visual shopping list! This way if need be, DH knows exactly what to go get or I can order it from home! I am a preplanner and some might think I am starting too early, but I have to believe that all will be perfect with the twins and if we didn't start now, we would never be able to afford two of almost everything! lol

Thread crasher here... :)

I totally reccomend getting prepared well in advance! I thought I was doing quite well in the preparation dept but little did I know... I went on bedrest at 28 weeks and on hospital bedrest at 31 weeks. Now as I sit here in the hospital with my babies scheduled to be delivered in 8 short days, I am starting to freak out a bit. One thing I definitely didnt think about was having preemie babies or small babies. I have had to send out family members to buy smaller clothes as most newborn clothes wont fit a 5 pounder or less... My cloth diapers will not fit, so another dilemma... I want everyone to have big chubby healthy babies but it is definitely a reality with multiples that they might be smaller. I also didnt get to have my shower as it was scheduled the weekend I was sent to the hospital (great timing). So I reccomend if having one to plan it pretty well in advance.

I researched strollers quite a bit and we ended up going with the Gracco quatro tour duo and two snug ride car seats. The car seats will snap in and then the stroller can still be used once grown out of those.

I hope you are all having happy and healthy twin pregnancies!!

Hi ladies!

I already have a Graco DuoGlide (front to back) which I love. The side by side strollers have a lot of nice features, but are VERY hard to navigate in stores. Even most children's stores do not have aisles big enough for them. I do like that a lot of them are lighter, so that is a plus there. Just depends on what you are using it for. I may also get the snap-n-go (that's the one that's just a shell, right?) because it's lighter than the one I have, but we'll see. We have one crib already (it's currently a toddler bed for DD, so we actually need to look into not just another crib, but also new furniture for her), so a lot of the big stuff is taken care of.

DillysGirl - So excited for you! Praying the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly and that those boys are bigger than everyone thinks! I agree about an early shower. My friend also went into the hospital the week of her shower, at 27 weeks I think. Had the babies at 31 1/2, and while they had to spend some time in the NICU, they are perfectly healthy and happy 2 year olds now! Thanks for your advice...keep it coming as you can!

AFM - ladies I hit the 12 week mark today! Whoo hoo! I know I actually have another week left until first tri is over, but it's always fun to see that 12 week on the ticker :D I'm feeling good, just tired as usual.

Correction!! lol I actually am not getting a side by side! It is a baby trend sit 'n stand stroller. It is a inline double stroller but can still take the car seats being attached and still has full recline spite the inline seats. At least that is what it advertised in the store. I think it has a great price for everything is offers and seems to be good as time goes on. Though I am sure when the twins are big enough we we switch to umbrella strollers as they are cheap, lighter and easier to take from place to pace. Of course to use that option I will have to have someone else with me. lol I am sure that won't be an issue, even if my husband deploys again which is likely, I usually have my DD with me and she is old enough to push a stroller. :)

DillysGirl- I'm sending you a prayer and good energy for your babies to mature and be ready for delivery in a week! You must be ready to get the heck out of the hospital (and bedrest for that matter!). Keep up the positive thinking and all will be fine. Please let us know how things go over the next week and, of course, when the bundles of joy arrive! Big hug!

hey ladies - sorry i havent been on for a while - glad everyone is doing great! So who has found out their genders!! We still dont know as im at 14 weeks. Are any of you having mild abdominal cramps? My dr keeps saying its probbaly jsut cause they are twins but they are moving up my 16 week u/s to 14 weeks whcih also means ill get and 18 week instead of 20 whcih i dont think is as good to look at the anatomy. I have a uti now. I had such an easy pregnancy with my son but this time i seem to have all the prego complications. As far as what im buying, I have a 1 year old so we need a triple stroller! I plan on getting 2 more graco carseats for when they are small with the double snap and go. Love the single snap and go - so light and affordable. Im torn about buying too much stuff early on but also dont want to end up on bedrest and in a jam with nothing cause i waited too long! We need to get furniture as probably the biggest to do item right now and clean out our den! Not sure how much longer ill work. Between taking my son and the old dog to multiple apts each week and work, im feeling alot more tired with this pregnancy! If we didnt need the money and insurance, id be outta there. Hoping to make it a few more months.

Kim - Sorry you are so busy, hopefully you get some rest soon. I find out genders this week! Slim possibility I will know at the ob appt Monday but likely not till Friday at my next u/s. Don't worry about your anatomy scan, it can be taken from 18-22 weeks. I should be getting my anatomy scan planned tomorrow or Friday. Not sure who is going to plan the next one since my ob planned my NT scan but my perinatoligist planned my follow up scan. Oh well, I will find out this week. :) I feel different with this pg too than with DD. I have so many symptoms where I didn't have any with her. I get these little annoying pains, not really cramps but doesn't really hurt either, it's just enough to make me say, What was that? I don't feel it too often so I try not to worry myself. Sorry to hear about your uti. I had one with DD but luckily not this time around. I have making it a point to make sure the bladder is nice and empty. Sometimes I will go and as soon as I sit down I feel I have to again so I just sit there for an extra minute to avoid that. lol We are trying to work on the big stuff too. We have one crib so far and working on getting the next one. We were so not budgeted for twins. lol Thankfully my dad's wife will be helping and that will be getting most of the rest of the big stuff. We just need to start stocking up on diapers and all those little things that end up costing a lot. Us twin mommies have to think about getting things ready earlier than others because of costs on two of everything, bed rest and even the possibility of preterm labor. I am not even sure when a good time for a shower would be. I am thinking 24 weeks?? That seems like a safe place because of the bed rest possibility and also if (forbid) preterm labor does happen, the babies are able to survive outside at that time. Any thoughts on this??

It is posible to tell at 14 weeks, but most don't like to guess. The whole thing no matter what stage is guessing anyway. lol I was trying to peek at 13 weeks for my NT scan and he looked but didn't feel comfy telling me yet. What I think I saw was a boy and a girl. I am hoping for two boys but no matter what it is I will be happy! All we care about is healthy happy babies. :) I think 24 sounds good too. I guess I should start planning invites and such. I have had three people offer to throw me a shower but two of them are pregnant themselves and one just had a baby and is going on for gullbladder surgery. Not sure how that is going to work out. I never had one before and no idea how to plan one so we shall see. I haven't found any gender pee tests in the stores. I should have DH go look for one since he is out. lol If we happen to find one in this crappy town, I will update you. :)

Yeah, I looked it up online and he isn't too thrilled about spending over 30 bucks on it when we should know by Friday. lol I am just curious of it's accuracy since IntelliGender gives you instrusction on how to determine genders for twins. It would be very interesting to compare results!

Ok so I got DH to go to the store thanks to his own curiousity to buy the IntelliGender test. So he made sure I woke up to "go" before he left for PT today. lol Hence the early post. It's only 6:20 here. Anyway.. So it says online if it turns boy right away you are likely having two boys, if it changes later after the 5 minutes that you are likely having a girl and a boy. I didn't feel like watching it for 5 minutes so I went to lay down for a few. Andrew watched it and said it was changing already then came down to lay with me for the next 2-3 minutes of the test. At exactly 5 we got up to look and it was dark green already. Per the online directions for twins, this means I am having two boys. This would be great! It is exactly what I want, but I am happy enough knowing there is likely at least one in there. lol  I can't wait to see what the u/s says to compare! Here is a pic.

It is very tempting. I know it's just for fun, but the testimonials were all positive. I'd say 99% were right! That's pretty good odds. Andrew keeps saying "my boys" now and I keep saying, at least one according to the test. lol Since it is just a pee test, nothing concrete. :) I hope your u/s went ok. Look forward to hearing good reassuring news!

My OB appt was today, I am measuring 26 fundal height. Have they measured you yet? I have a previa from baby a so we were told no play time unless we take it really easy and we won't be able to do it for much longer. He prefers we don't at all though. I had a 4 week window and now it's closing. lol Was told no sex until the SCH stopped bleeding and now 4 weeks later, no sex again. UGH!
