We love Lost too!!! Your party sounds like it's going to be great! I am so glad DH is not working tomorrow, because when he works we DVR it and watch the next night. We also love the apprentice. I hope Bret wins.

Hi.
My name is Audra. Im 26 & this will be my first IVF.
Im sort of really anxious, excited & nervous.

I dont know what to expect at this first appointment (sigh).

My consultation with my RE is on June 1st & I am really hoping to get the entire process started that day. Not sure if thats how the process works.

Im not sure what all the abbreviations here mean??
Maybe someone can explain the abbreviations. What to expect at the first appointment. Etc.

I am sure, that I will be with this summer cycle group since my cycle beings in June or July.
I havent had anyone talk too me here yet & am desperate to make some friends & I do mean desperate.

At least one, who will go thru the process with me & one, who has been thru it all before & I can ask questions, etc.

:? :)

audra welcome girl! i'm so glad you found this website. you will find amazing woman on here with advice, support, and knowledge you RE wont even give you!
dont worry about being nervous. its very normal. this whole IVF thing can drive you into crazytown if you let it. there is a list of abbreviations on the "general" forum page of this site. it will be at the top of the page, and will help you get to know the lingo around here!
as for your first appointment with your RE, i'm not sure what to tell you. all RE's are different. did you already have your day 3 bloodwork done? they will probably go over you and DH's history, and figure out what testing you need to have done, and get that set up. they will probably work out an IVF protocol with you, and have you sign all the consent forms.
before your appointment you should write down any questions you have. it will make you feel more prepared, and will help you stay calm, and less overwhelmed. if your RE starts talking doctor talk, and you dont understand what they are saying make sure you ask them to explain everything in a way you will understand.
good luck! if you have any questions please feel free to ask. the best advice i have to you is take this process day by day, and dont get ahead of yourself. it will stress you out too much. i would also look into acupuncture, it is a great way to stay clam and focused.
:D

My name is Rebecca and I am preparing for my 1st IVF cycle. I am 36 years old and my husband is 41. My husband had a vasectomy during his first marriage and he had a reversal done last year. The reversal was unsuccessful so he had a biopsy done and we have his sperm frozen and waiting. I had hsg done last week and have bloodwork and ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow. I am trying to take one day at a time, but feel anxious and nervous. This is all new to me and not at all what I ever expected to have to do. I am looking forward to any support I can receive. I have learned so much by reading all that there is on these message boards and I have hope for my future...

Hi Audra!

When I had my 1st appt with RE he basically went over all the tests he was going to schedule for us. We both needed bloodwork, but mine had to be after period (AF) started. I also needed some other tests that had to ge on a certain day of my period. After all tests we talked with doc and went over plan. We had to wait for next AF to begin. My 1st appt was July 30 and I happened to get AF the next week. Had tests and waited for next AF so my first tx began September 11. good luck and feel free to ask any questions.

Hi there- im trying round #2 this summer, last summer we cycled in Aug and put 2 embies in, they both took and 1 split giving us triplets only to miscarriaged twins then singleton a few wks later. This weekend was our due date, and was hard but looking forward to trying again, praying for all to go well this time- will only be putting 1 embie in i think, in fear of having difficulties again

triplets-miscarried twins at 11 wks
singletown at 13 wks
2nd IVF July/Aug 2010

Wow! Thank you! Im so excited to have received replies, I feel like a school girl who just got her 1st note from a boy, asking her out on a date. Silly, I know but still... Ive been a lot of different forums trying to connect with others who are going through this process as I feel it will help keep me from stressing out, which can't be good during this whole process if Im hoping to conceive. The bf is great at listening, but I really just want other women, to talk to, since it is us, who will be going though this process. Or other women to talk too who have been through the process & can offer me advice, suggestions, words of encouragement, answer questions, etc.

Thank you girls! :) You totally made my day with your responses to my post.

To answer a question I was asked. Nope. Ive had no blood work done even.
This will be the first appointment Ive had. Period.

Question....
I got the crazy notion to read the review online about the doctor Im seeing & there are both good and bad reviews.
This is normal right? I mean, no doctor will get 100% in their reviews?

Since his reviews weren't 100% I went online browsing to see if there were other doctors...
I found one or two more that, look, great. They have really good statics, etc.

Only thing is, I have to self pay for my consultations and the RE appointment on the 1st is already going to run the bf & I about $500 or more... So I assume each consult will cost as much. How do I choose a good doctor?
I mean, I had a really good feeling about the one Im seeing on the first, call it womens intuition or just a good feeling but, I was going with it. Now, after reading the reviews, I guess Im nervous....

Like I said before, its normal though right to have both good and bad reviews?

One of you mentioned that certain tests had to be done after your period. Im on mine now...
So am I going to have to wait until after my NEXT period for some of those tests to be done? Or will they be able to be performed at the first appointment, since it is on the 1st and the period, is now?

Thanks girls!
Your so far, such a HUGE help. Im really super excited to cycle with all of you in these up and coming next months & really wish the best for you all since I know the excitement & desire you all feel in getting pregnant! :)

Audra - most likely you will have to wait for next period. It sucks waiting, but there are lots of waits in this : )

HUGE SAD FACE!

I do not have a lot of patience & waiting is the hardest part of all of this. I am so anxious & so ready to get started on this adventure, process, journey. Im ready! Im ready! Im ready! :(

(sigh).

Its almost funny, because I know the injections hurt. Some more than others depending on what med's your put on.
I am NOT looking forward to the daily injections to prep my body for the process, but being as anxious & as ready as I am, I am ready for the injections if it means getting started already.

Personal opinions?
I am 26 years old. Have had, 4 healthy beautiful babies in the past.
The reason I can't conceive now is because I lost an ovary 2 years ago & 4 years ago, I opted for the form of sterilization that put fissure clamps on my tube.
My boyfriend, has a 4 year old daughter as well (from a previous relationship) & is 27.

We both do not drink. Are taking vitimans. His is a Men's One A Day & Im taking Prenatal's & drinking ensure everyday.
We do not smoke. We have stopped drinking coffee & soda & I have refrained from eating large amounts of chocolate.

We are healthy.
What do you think the odd's of a successful IVF is for us?

and if I have to wait til my NEXT :( period to begin my process, am I still a summer cycle buddy??

Hi Everyone!

I would love to join you for your summer cycle group. I have an appointment with my RE this Thursday and we will talk about what our plans are. As of now, I will be doing a natural cycle IUI this cycle and begin estrogen priming for next cycle for IVF. Maybe I will get lucky and not have to cycle if the IUI works...but I want to be prepared if it doesn't.

I am looking forward to sharing with all of you. Let's keep positive thoughts and lots of prayers.

Hi Karin - I hope your IUI works for you. Mind did not, but maybe you will have better luck!

Audra - I don't think the injections in the belly hurt at all so don't worry. And I have done enough believe me! I am usually on a high dose so I have to give 2 to 3 shots a nt. You will definitely be in the summer. Even if they test on next AF that would be end of June. Then next AF would be end of July. We will probably start around the same time. I have to wait for this to end, and then at least a month so I am thinking end of July for me too.
I need a break anyway. All of my cycles have been back to back since September.

AFM I have had to go in for blood, US, and Follow ups every few days for the past two weeks. DH said maybe we should find a closer RE because he is sick of the drive...lol. He has come twice since April 16! I can't count how many times I have. I saw my RE today and they are going to do a D&E Wednesday which is basically an abortion....gross! He is very optimistic about next time. I told him I only have 2 tries left with INS so do I get a discount on next if they don't work? He said I am a pessimist lol! I said they should do buy 5 get 1 free! He said the fact that i got pregnant this tine means it's just a question of when it will happen not if.

good morning everyone!

lauren i'm thinking of you today! let me know what happens ok! xoxo

claudiathanks for popping in! i hope you keep stopping by! how was your sisters graduation? did she go to UVM too? i love burlington. church street is one of my favorite streets! haha yes i have a favorite street. its hard to find towns that still have a thriving downtown area with local stores, and i love it! they also have a great co-op there with amazing organic produce! (i'm sure you know all this since you lived there!) :D
how are you feeling? did you tell everyone yet?

karin welcome!! where are you in your IUI cycle? i never did IUI, because of my endo, i went straight to IVF. I am crossing everything that it will work for you, and you wont need an IVF cycle! good luck!!! :D

audra dont worry. even if you have to wait till next cycle, you will still be a summer cycle buddy! stick around. you will learn a ton just from reading about other womans cycles that you'll be more prepared, and less stressed when its your turn. It true that stress isnt good, but its hard not to be stressed out. you have to find things that help you relax. as for your success rates...well no one can really answer that. it all depends on how well you respond to the meds, how many eggs you get, how mature they are, how many fertilize, how they grow, and how many you put back. you are young, and youve already had successful pregnancies, so those are both really good things you have on your side. i think you will have a good chance of getting your BFP!

fitz i remember you from last summer. i dont know if we were in a cycle group together, but i remember following the cycle group you were in. i am so sorry for what you have been through, and i am so amazed that you are trying again. i think its awesome!! it must be so hard to think about your due date. i've been thinking about that kinda stuff alot recently. even though i didnt go through what you did, ive been doing IVF since last august, and i keep thinking "if i got pregnant the first try with IVF i would be having my baby any day now"! i try not to think about it, because its way too depressing, and theres nothing i can do to change things. i totally get you only wanting to put 1 back. ive only had 1 embryo to transfer each cycle so ive been told a bunch of times that it only takes one. it hasnt happened for me yet, but i have to believe it will work one of these times right??

gi i better get pregnant fast because i dont know what to do with myself without my tv shows! i'm glad everything is going good! i bet that baby bump is sooo cute! :D

rebecca welcome! i hope everything goes good at your appointment tomorrow! trust me...none of us ever expected to have to do this! you are not alone. taking it one day at a time is the best way to go! let me know how it goes tomorrow!!
:D

afm my LOST party went great, and it was so much fun. i stayed up wayyyyy too late, and cried like a lil baby at the end of the show. i ended up having crazy lost dreams that messed me up. i woke up so confused! haha
other then that i have to stop by my RE's office and sign new consent forms. we signed them a year ago, and i cant believe i am still going through this that i have to go sign new ones, because the other ones i signed were only good for a year!! there is noway that i couldve imagined last year that i would still be stuck in the same situation a year later. it sucks. this has been the hardest year of my life. i remember signing them last year all filled with hope and excited that this would be what finally got me pregnant. HA!
stupid paperwork getting me all upset!
ok i'm gonna stop thinking about it now.
i hope everyone is having a great day!

much love always
