Advice...anyone else ever heard of this?

Post by wishingwell »

Hi ladies,

My lovely acupuncturist who I saw on Thursday is a Zita West trained practicioner and specialises in Fertility and Infertility. She mentioned that a couple of her other patients, also with unexplained infertility, took 2l of water, 1l of milk and brazil nuts immediately after embryo transfer and each day throughout the 2WW and are both now pregnant...apparently it helps with implantation. I'm going to give it a go (although will have to stagger the milk...bleugh!!) and wondered if anyone else had heard of this, or any other advice that might increase chances of it working?

WW-

I also have unexplained fertility and go to an acupuncturist. He has never said anything about this to me. I have an appointment today and will ask him. You said 1 liter of milk, 1 liter of water and brazil nuts? How many nuts? I'm not even sure what brazil nuts are. Do you drink it daily on your 2ww? And do you drink it straight down one right after the other? Or do you just have to do it throughout the day? He's has only said that I should keep my feet warm and not to eat or drink anything cold and bedrest for 3 days after transfer. He also told me to eat an egg everyday to raise my cholesterol and to gain at least 5 lbs...maybe more. He said that I was healthy for my own longevity, but maybe too healthy to conceive. I know it's alot of specific questions, but I think that we would all try anything at this point. I will let you know what my guy says later today.

Hi,

Never heard of this one but a favourite myth around here is the pineapple one. Eat one slice a day including the core for 5 days starting on day of transfer, i only tried it on my last 3 ivfs and it worked the 3 times, prob. a coincidence but hey you never know. Best of luck

Hi Gi!

First of all....Congratulations! I am so happy for you! :D :D :D It's so nice to see success stories after such a long journey. I have a couple of questions. What are killer cells and how did you know that you had them? What did you do to fix it? Pineapple? You had a slice of pineapple and got a BFP for your last 3 IVF cycles? And you didn't have it for your BFN's? Sounds promising. Like I said before....I will do and eat anything at this point.

Thanks for you input.

I hope this does not seem rude, but I am very skeptical of any medical advice from an acupuncturist, rumors of what affects implantation, any conclusion based on two patients, and the use of any home remedies not first approved by your RE.

If there was something in there that really did affect implantation, wouldn't a drug company be marketing it already? And what could it be anyway? What affects implantation? Progesterone? Sure, but the timing is critical. Take it at the right time and it helps implantation. Take it at the wring time and implantation becomes nearly impossible. These home remedies usually do nothing at all, but if they do something, it may or may not be a benefit.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

We are open to all opinions. As you can see, we are all just looking for that magic thing that may help. I did ask my acupuncturist about the milk, water and brazil nuts and the pineapple and he said that he has never heard of such a thing. I have talked to my RE about acupuncture and he says that he doesn't encourage or discourage the practice. I never do anything to interfere with the protocols of my RE. He says that if it makes me feel better...then go for it.

Like I said before....all opinions are welcome.

Thanks for the reply ladies!
I think it's good advice from your acupuncurist Karin - if it's not medically counter-productive, and it makes you feel good, then why not!
Certainly milk and upping your water intake to 2l a day can't hurt, plus brazil nuts are full of good fats and selenium (particularly renowned for helping a mans sperm count increase) so I think I will give it a try :D
My acupuncturist said she heard from her two recent IVF clients and both are pg now, so who knows!!
Best of luck to everyone - I really hope this is a special summer for us all xxxxxxxxx
