Greetings All :D

Sorry for being absent. I don't know what happened to me, aliens abducted me, hahahaha.

Renee-wishing you all the best. take care. we will miss you

Tammy-fingers crossed for you. I have friends who brought home their daughter from China last February. She is so precious and the parents are beaming. I bet Andrew will make a fine big brother.

Rhonda-have you consulted your doctor about your lack of ovulation? what is there best educated reasoning on this? don't give in yet. Your body may just have to take time getting back in sync.

AFM-well we had our IUI on the 12th. DH sperm numbers and quality are rapidly dwindling with his age and the clinic has no answer for this. Thankfully, he had banked two samples prior to our IUI date and he was able to contribute a third sample the day of IUI as well. All samples were combined for a grand total of 2M active sperm. A 'normal' sample is >20M. Not to worry they call off IUI if it is 1M or less. It's frustrating because they [the REs and clinic staff] always say when they see his values 'why aren't you doing IVF? well, then we mention my age and the conversation ends. It can be so disheartening. Let's put on a happy face. Tomorrow I'm to do a HPT. I have to say this IUI they have me inserting progesterone supositories 3x a day. I much prefer the PIO method. I can remember a nightly shot. I have a hard time remembering to dose myself. I'm not really feeling pg so I'm not even nervous to do the HPT. Of course this could be because I'm not on a strict dose schedule with the supositories. DH did ask the RE about donor sperm as it is a possibility. The mere fact that he asked is fabulous. It means he is thinking about this option. We would have to go through a battery of psycological exams :( but if our hearts are on having another child/sibling for DD then we can step up to this requirement.

Wishing everyone well. Hi to Yasmina. How are those beautiful children of yours?

Cheers!

Hello Ladies:

Renee: Congrats on your good news! A girl should be a nice additional to your family.

Yasmina/Catharine: I am getting excited about the adoption. I'm a little nervous about it too though.
We should get our referral Nov/Dec of this year, if all goes on schedule. Andrew is VERY excited about
getting a "sissy". He talks about her often.

Catharine: Good luck on your HPT!!!! If there is a will.........there is a way! Knowing my luck, we will get
our referral and then I will find out that I'm pregnant....lol.

Take care all,
Tammy

catharine, i so hope you get your bfp. please let us know.
Tammy, im so excited for you. i want to see a picture of that baby girl when you get her.

as for me. nothing much to tell. two rounds of clomid and still no ovulation. my periods are normal and 28 days but no ovulation. my ob doc says maybe my fsh levels are such that i want ovulate. maybe im about to go through menopause. im made an appt with RE to talk about doing just a cycle with meds. no ivf and no iui. just hoping that if i could do it naturally two years ago maybe i have a shot if i could just ovulate. Bella is almost 9 months. she is almost walking on her own. boy she is a climber too. keep in touch more often. i miss you guys. i check the board all the time and get disappointed when nobody is on. i know i need a life. lol. take care and lots of pma.

Catharine so sorry (((hugs))) So glad that hubby has suggested DS route for you to look into.

It's been a long while since I was last here. Hubbyman and I have been ttc since 2005 although never prevented since we wed in 2002. We were supposed to go through IVF this month but sadly had to compromise the BF (Baby Fund) when my father in law got sick and was diagnosed with lung cancer. Sadly he passed away last month after a short battle with the disease, so now we have to rebuild our fund.

Looks like what I didn't want may come to pass: being 42 and giving birth. Oh well. Hopefully this loooong wait will be worth it.

Why does having a baby have to be about money? Vent over.

I hope you other ladies are doing well and enjoying the babies you have, will have and desire to have.

Blessings,

Hi all,

We are still here, lurking most of the times. Since we are not trying for any more kids, I often just not have much to contribute. IVF technology is evolving and I believe the chances of getting pregnant for our over 40 people would increase. so, keep your hopes!

Catharine, I hope the DS that you will use will help you get the second one soon. Are you going for iui or ivf? I hope the cost now becomes manageable given so many people are out of jobs...this morning, the NPR said the average for getting a job now is one year - it used to be 3 months.

Butterfly, welcome back. Sorry to hear about your FIL's news. Hope your BF gets rebuilt soon. But just for your information, I had not even try to have a baby before 43. So, you are fine, in age.

Tammy, don't be nervous, you will enjoy your little chinese girl, I am sure. In our daycare, there is a couple, the father is american, the mother is Japanese, and they adopted a Chinese girl when she was 3.5 and she loves her parents dearly. The parents often come to talk to me to see whether I can speak Chinese to her. Unfortunately, I don't know the little girl's mother tongue and she does not speak Mandarin. Anyway, I am looking forward to your stories about your new addition. By the way, I also would love to hear your story about Andrew at the parents after ivf site.

Catharine: Sorry to hear your news.

BFK: So sorry to hear the news on your FIL.

Yasmina: I'm very excited about our adoption. We moved Andrew into the guest room to make room for Elena
in the nursery. He loves his "big boy" room. I think we should get our referral in December, with travel January/February.
That would be a wonderful Christmas present! A lot of referrals have been for young babies from Juangxi province lately.
They have been between 6 - 12 months old. I'm hoping for a very young referral, but we shall see. I'm sure that we will
get the perfect baby for our family. Andrew is thrilled about his "sissy" and talks about her often. We will be shopping
and he will say, "Let's get this for sissy."

Take care all,
Tammy

roseofsharon, welcome! have you done ivf before? Sorry i may have missed your posts on other groups, but over 40 crow is the one i like the best. good luck on your journey.

tammy, today when i read your post, i suddenly think that you are getting another natural pregnancy again. I just felt this way, somehow your excitement affected me and I am almost feel jealous.

Jiangxi province has a beautiful mountain named LuShan and it IS the place where important people, like Chairman Mao and his most trusted leader crew used to go for secrete meetings or "vacations". I visited it in 1986. Things may have changed a lot since then. The movie "Romance on Lushan Mountain" was shot entirely there, which made the whole China excited since it was the very first love story movie made after the Great Culture Revolution. Are you going to Jiangxi or Guangzhou? Most of parents who adopt children from China have to go to Guangzhou. If you have any questions about your coming visit to China, don't hesitate to ask. we are going back to China in the end of this year. We are now planning a trip to France for summer vacation. Are you taking Andrew with you to China to welcome his little sis? She will be adorable, I am sure!

Hi to everyone else here!

Hi. I'm new and have posted on the newcomers thread, but also thought I'd jump in here for a bit of extra... attention. I guess I'm hoping someone will say that they understand and I'm not alone in my obsession.

I'm just 43 and my lovely DD has just turned 3. We had hoped (mostly me) we would be able to produce a sibling for her so she'd have someone to chat to and play with while she is young. Being older or just adults, not sure, she wears us out. I get a bit lost at times, but she loves to chat to other kids and they seem to understand each other. Also and my first thought was that when she becomes an adult, we will be 60+, generations away, that is if we are still around. I think it would be really important for her to have someone close to compare notes on the crazy old parents. Gee I rely on my own sibs so much for heaps of support, including understanding our close generation mum (she was teens, early 20s when she had us). And I'm concerned that she wont have close family left in her 20s, 30s, or 40s max. DH doesn't seem to feel the same about these issues and has said he'd go along with the ivf etc because he thinks it'll make me happy. I think he has loved the experience of having a child, but he has also said he thinks he's getting too old to put in the same effort with a new one.
He's feeling old. I never felt old until this latest round of ivf cycles started failing.

So here feeling old, not really understood, very disappointed, unsure what to do and a little skint. Seems like months of ruminating on disappointment and what to do since last cycle, but really it has only been a few weeks. Still pretty obsessed with it all. Just starting to feel like I'm returning to my usual self.

It is lovely to see here that it is possible for some, but not sure of my own direction now.

Welcome Rose of Sharon!

Welcome Cillile! Our son is 3 years old as well and I have the same feelings about a sibling. My DH has a 17 year old son from his first marriage, but there is such a big age difference that they are not close. We tried for a 2nd child a short while and then decided to pursue our adoption, which was already in the works.

Yasmina: I had a dream last night that I became pregnant! That is weird. We will have to go to Guangzhou no matter which province we adopt from, as that is the last stop before leaving China (US Consulate is there). I will check out the movie that you recommended. I am not taking Andrew with me to CHina, as I think it would be more stressful with two young ones. DH is staying home with him and my niece will go with me.

Take care all,
Tammy

Hello, I just discovered this site today. Not sure how to post, but I had my first IVF this month and I am waiting for the results. I am 40 with no children (I had a miscarriage with IUI at 11 weeks). My husband is much older than me...We are using donor sperm. They transferred three eggs and froze one.
I am worried about implantation. Anyone else going nuts with the waiting out there?
