Whats the earliest I can do a HPT?

Post by Kamaile »

Hello everyone...Im new here...well actually, I was on in late 2008. Did an IVF back then, only had one egg to transfer with that cycle, got a BFP but had a miscarriage at about 11 weeks. Been off the boards for a while, finally just did my second IVF recently and transferred 2 five day Blasts on 5/23 (the RE said they had more than 60 cells each...did i hear him correctly??) Im now in my 2 ww and experiencing some cramping now and then but not much else. Just wondering when is the earliest I can take a HPT for which I could trust the results?? I know its toooo early right now, but just for fun, I took an HPT this morning and it came out negative as I would have expected. But funny thing is, when I looked at the test again maybe an hour or two later, I could see a faint positive line...I dont think I could count that though because the box said to discard any results that appear after 10 min....Im going crazy during my 2 ww...Beta is not until 6/2 but they wont run it until the second beta on 6/4 and then Ill get the results on that day...so i just want to do a HPT for now even though RE said not to....so whats the earliest I can take it? Ghost? Anyone? I welcome any/all advice :D

Kamaile – Welcome back! I am sorry to hear about your m/c.

I have posted a chart below and it tells you when you can test with a HPT but remember everyone HCG levels vary, so it is different for every person.

**this is what happens in a 3dt :
**transfer day
1dpt ..embryo is growing and developing
2dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst
3dpt....Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
4dpt.. Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
5dpt.. Implantation begins, as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining
6dpt.. Implantation process continues and morula buries deeper in the lining
7dpt.. Morula is completely implanted in the lining and has placenta cells &
fetal cells
8dpt...Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood
9dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
10dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
11dpt...HCG levels are now high enough to be immediately detected on
HPT

**this is what happens in a 5dt : Day 5 blastocyst
-1dpt ..embryo is growing and developing
0dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst (transfer day)

HPT

Hopefully, this chart helps. Please feel free to ask any additional questions. Good luck!

Legitimate positives are reported as early as 5 days after a day 5 transfer, but most won't see it by then. I would not test until at least day 7. Even then, it's not reliable. If it's negative, just try again a few days later.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.
