Fails Before Successes

Post by Summer2010 »

My husband and I are currently in the early stages of our IVF cycle. I am on Lupron right now and will be starting Gonal F on Wednesday.

I just wanted to drop by and see how many IVF cycles it took for you to become pregnant. I am going through this cycle assuming it will work and my husband is trying to make me realize that we can't put all of our eggs in this basket. If it doesn't work, we will just try again he says.

Thanks for the info in advance!

I got a BFP on my first IVF attempt and I only had ONE embryo to transfer. But sadly I had a miscarriage at about 3 months....I am currently on my second IVF attempt right now, I am actually in my 2 ww at this point (transferred 2 embryos this time). Go for my beta on june 4. I POAS yesterday and had a faint positive so I may be pregnant again. I will wait for my beta to make sure lol...good luck to you, stay positive! :D

Hi, it took me 2 cycles to get my ds. I think it is quite normal the first time to think you are the one it will work for 1st time. This may or may not be true but please try and have a plan ready so if it does fail you know you can go on. BTW I had one blast transferred each time.

Good luck, I hope it is your time

With my first round of IVF we used 3-day embryos. We transferred 3 embies and got a BFN. Then several months later, we did a frozen cycle and got a BFP! Sadly, I miscarried at 8 weeks. We still had a few more embies to do another frozen cycle but the last 3 didn't survive the thaw. So we went for another round of IVF and used 5-day embyros. We transferred 2 blasts and got a BFP! My DS is now over 8 months old. Good luck to you!! This can be a very tiring and emotional road to parenthood, but have faith and stay as positive as possible!!

This will be our 5th attempt @ IVF. We were cancelled 2 times  It is our 3rd cycle if all goes well.We are doing another fresh cycle. I thought it would of been somewhat easier for me to get preggo cause I have a DD and was pregnant 2 other times. How wrong was I  Just know this is a chance to get pregnant and there are no gaurantees. Sometimes the RE needs to see how your body responds to the meds and it sometimes doesn't cooperate and do what it should do :? That has been the story of my life for over a year of doing IVF. Good luck :)

It took me two times to get pregnant. But getting pregnant and actually having a baby were two seperate things for me. I had two BFN's and 3 miscarrages before we had our son. I remember my husband and I thought when we did IVF that we would automatically have a baby, and it did not work that way for us. But there are a lot of people who are that lucky and I hope you are one of them! Good luck with everything.
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!

Hi,

It took us 5 attempts to get our 1st Bfp and like Brit getting pregnant and staying pregnant were 2 totally different things. I m/c at 9 wks, did fet got bfp but m/c at 10wks. I changed clinics and on 7th attempt got bfp and now 16 wks (please God) pregnant. Some girls are lucky and get it withing 1st couple tries but others it just takes a bit longer. Best of luck

7th IVF finally our precious miracle girl Kayla born 24/11/10, 8th IVF FET Sept 2012 BFP!!!

we have a son from our #1 IVF and we just did another cycle and got a BFP but it was a chemical pregnancy. You learn that a BFP is sometimes the beginning of worrying and it never ends! You get worried your numbers go up, you worry it was a chemical, then worry about seeing a heartbeat, then worry about a miscarriage, then worry about the baby being normal and healthy, then you worry about them falling and getting hurt. I am not trying to scare you, motherhood is an enormous blessing but be prepared that you will worry every step of the way and it is perfectly natural to do so. We invest so much and there is so much love for a baby that sometimes doesn't even exist yet.

It can happen the first time but like others say, be prepared because it is all a gamble and not an exact science. Even in nature my RE said you only have a 3% chance of getting pregnant each month naturally at 39.

Baby dust to all of us girls!
